Looks like Stallone won't go into THE TOMB alone... ARNOLD IS BACK!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... Ya know, ain't it always the way... just 2 days ago I could have chatted with THE MAN himself about this - but as I was driving home with Yoko, my phone rang and a familiar voice let me in on a secret that - well... it's the sort of thing that AB KING will lose his fool mind over.
We've all heard that Sylvester Stallone is going to be starring in THE TOMB - a film that is currently directorless. You see, at one point, Antoine Fuqua was set to direct THE TOMB with Bruce Willis to play the lead character of Ray Breslin. THEN... Bruce pulled his chute and exited THE TOMB, only to have the rumor circle stating that Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to play Ray Breslin... instead he chose to star in LAST STAND.
Shortly before Halloween last year, Stallone chose to take the role of Ray Breslin in THE TOMB. Who is Ray Breslin? Reportedly he's an expert on structural security for High Security Prisons - and ironically enough gets framed and must escape to discover who put him there.
Well, the familiar - oh so reliable contact that whispered in my ear on the drive home... specifically as I was driving through Fort Sumner, New Mexico... told me that Sly has a very interesting co-star that is currently circling and discussing with Sly to join him in THE TOMB... and that's Arnold Schwarzenegger.
That's right. Looks like Arnold, who was already familiar with the project has another role he's interested in for the film - and man... how exciting is that?
I have an exclusive interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger that is coming soon - where he talks at length about his return to the big screen. It is a fascinating conversation with a legend. Can't wait to share!
THE TOMB is set up at SUMMIT Pictures - and now - let's see who helms this!

This just got interesting

he should have stuck to his true passion...he's all wrinkled up now and his muscles look like plastic but he's still a viable action star because no one else has taken his place (The Rock is not it)

Sorry but there you can all carry on safe in the knowledge that nothing you say can be as bad as that one.
-
Now there's an adaptation they oughta make. The first Repairman Jack novel. Exists in the same universe as The Keep, which was adapted already. Make it so.

a really REALLY REALLLLLLLLLY SLOOOOOW explosion behind them goes off, but they escape at a nominal speed!

GET A FUCKING EDIT BUTTON
-
THE TOMB, by F. Paul Wilson, featuring Repairman Jack, is a great novel, and would play great on the big screen. Plus, it has about a half-dozen or so books in the series. Could be an astounding movie series. If only this was the book being filmed. Sigh.
-
He's concerned (and rightly so) that Hollywood would make as big a mess of any adaptation of The Tomb as they did with The Keep. Heck, some bright studio head would probably try to cast Stallone as Repairman Jack. Or Jason Statham. Or whoever the action star flavor of the year is. Of course, they should cast Bruce Campbell as Jack. Or Nathan Fillion. Because those two can play any syfy/horror-oriented lead.
-
I know this is a show-biz interview, but I'm fascinated by his mindset after years of office as a Republican. I kinda think he'll be more open with you...

This brightly lit shot of the new bat-suit makes me nervous. One one hand it looks badass, on the other it looks strange to me. Im sure ill warm up to it http://collider.com/christopher-nolan-the-dark-knight-rises-batsuit/137256/
-
that new batsuit is a game breaker. I bet John Carter beats TDKR at the box office now
-
yeah, sure it is..... if you didn't ask arnie what he was thinking when he banged a maid who looks like manny pacquiao in a blonde wig then it's a pointless conversation with a has been. FACT!
-
...if Harry hadn't mentioned that he specifically drove through Fort Sumner, New Mexico. That's what sold me.
-
It is like the suit of a knight with the armor and chainmeal. And this Batman is a knight. New Batman suit is perfect.
-
Are you homos costume designers now? I suppose it looks a little more segmented with more pieces but who gives a fuck?
-
Batman is meant to be like a creature of the night, not a G I Joe wannabe. Wayyyy too over designed. The movie will still rock though.
-
Yes it's different. Slightly over-designed, but it's still pretty slick looking. I prefer the all black look, golden belt. That is all. And BTW, typically people that say homo are the homos theirselves. FYI
-
And since when did TDKR take place eight years after TDK? That's news to me.
-
Jan. 11, 2012, 9:52 p.m. CST
I like the "knight" aspects to the Batman armor. I'd prefer a more helmet design to the cowl though; escalation and all that.
by Stereotypical Evil Archer
He needs some heavy armor for when shit gets nasty.
-
I hate the Tumbler Bat-Mobile too. No matter. The movies are still great.
-
when it was called Tango and Cash
-
It's like a bat-cast for his broken body. Like a cross between a stillsuit and the guyver. Just a theory.
-
Pleeeeeease? Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger, The Long Kiss Goodnight... c'mon. Overlook Driven and give the guy a shot. He's solid when it comes to action.
-
...that is to say Sylvester Stallone should (ghost) direct... or is it Kurt Russell? I don't know, but it does seem, whether or not he was calling all the shots, Cosmatos did actually add his own flavor to Rambo II, Cobra and Tombstone. And anyway, if Cosmatos was such a schill, how does one come to terms with the awesomeness that is Leviathan? Don't tell me Daniel Stern secretly directed that one?!
-
Jan. 11, 2012, 11:09 p.m. CST
I just keep thinking of Law Abiding Citizen for some reason.
by The_Genteel_Gentile
Even more so than Lock Up and Tango & Cash.

1. How about the Mummy's Tomb 2. Or Christ resurrected from the dead...leaves the Tomb....and leads zombies against the Roman Empire 3. Or a Tomb to bury in all the summer blockbusters that turned to crap.

Andrew Davis leads my nominations for for director.
by The_Genteel_Gentile
Andrew Davis (The Fugitive, Under Siege) is just a good solid no nonsense director and it's about time he get another gig already. Other solid pics would be these underrated veterans; Peter Hyams (The Presidio) John Badham (Nick Of Time) Roger Spottiswood (Shoot To Kill) Stephen Hopkins (Blown Away) Roger Donaldson (White Sands) Phillip Noyce (Clear And Present Danger) Renny Harlin (Long Kiss Goodnight) Wolfgang Petersen (In The Line Of Fire) Jan De Bont (Speed) Mikael Salomon (Hard Rein) Stuart Baird (Executive Decision) Chuck Russell (Eraser) Rob Bowman (Reign Of Fire) Kevin Hooks (Passenger 57) James Foley (The Corruptor) Jon Amiel (Entrapement) Michael Caton Jones (The Jackal) Phil Alden Robinson (Sneakers) John McTiernan (Die Hard) back on the thrown again would be the real coup though. Tony Scott (Last Boy Scout) is always a good option as far as I'm concerned. Or if they're feeling frisky; Richard Donner (Conspiracy Theory) Walter Hill (Undisputed) William Friedkin (The Hunted) Of the slightly newer breed of directors, I'd single out; Antoine Fuqua (Tears Of The Sun) James Mangold (Copland) Jean Francois-Richet (Mesrine) Hughes Bros (Dead Presidents) Florent Siri (Hostage) Simon West (The Mechanic) Louis Leterrier (Transporter) D.J. Caruso (The Salton Sea) John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines) Pierre Morel (Taken) Nimrod Antel (Armored) F. Gary Gray (The Negotiator) already did the similar in premise "Law Abiding Citizen". Brett Ratner (Red Dragon) actually is reasonably proficient as a gun-for-hire director, although it's not popular to say so. Of course really though, Stallone should just direct it himself since he is more than capable.

-
Having to deal with the egos of those two.
-
Two monster egos? A loose script? Whatever hack gets this job deserves his money because there's no way he's running the show. Only sly can direct this.
-
just to clarify ? Arnie and Sly breaking out of a prison ? Yes to this.
-
about anything with Arnold in it. Did you guys even SEE The Expendables?? Dude is epically out of shape. And really - what was Arnold ever really, besides 'tough guy with muscles'? Dude was never gonna win an Oscar - someone should actually let him know, because he's been weed-smokin' suck-my-nuts Arnold for way too long.
-
Except it was called Lock Up when i saw it and it was fucking shit. And Stallone looked less like a mangled sex doll in those days. PASS.
-
let's see..... Death Race 2000, Conan The Barbarian, First Blood, Terminator, Paradise Alley, Total Recall, Demolition Man, Predator, T2, Copland ..... That's way more than 3 good to GREAT movies and that's just off the top of my head.
-
They must have way more then 30 shit films between em. Oscar and Junior should each count for two.

Funny, how we throw that word around. Hollywood legends...I don't think Arnold OR Sly would fit. I'm not even sure Clint would be included. Tracy, Hepburn, John Ford, Stewart, Hope, Crosby...those folks were LEGENDS.
-
The latest word from F. Paul Wilson (two months ago) is that the Repairman Jack character is now being considered as a television series instead of a feature length film. As much as I love Bruce Campbell, I think he's too old for the part. If it were a feature film, I'd love to see Tim Olyphant in the role. Unless Justified were cancelled (and that would be a crime), he wouldn't be doing the TV show. But maybe Walton Goggins....
-
Don't talk about Clint like that! He's been consistently popular for nearly 50 years! As an actor and a director. That's a tough feat to pull off. Arnie and Sly are close but they got lazy so they likely won't be able to pull off the later career transition that Clint did.
-

You fucking tards and all your pre-film moaning and wailing. Nothing but a bunch of Chickenshit Littles. The suit looks fine and will work on-screen. So much better than that blob of shit Keaton wore.

-
Still think they should just copy the suit fron Arkham City though.

But judging by their recent movies time waits for no man......Expendables was pretty poor, can't see Ex2 being much better. Arnolds best performance recently was as a CGI version of his former prime. Time to hang up the didgy vests guys and sit down with a nice cup of hot chocolate.
-
I'm glad to see Arnie back in the Hollywood saddle. Teaming up, again, with Sly is action-flick catnip! Oh, and as far as the "new" Batsuit goes,....*yawn*....looks the same as the extreme biker suit of TDK.
-
...I actually got pissed at first when I read the headline cuz I thought Stallone was gonna do Repairman Jack. That was as bad as Cruise doing Jack Reacher. While I'd love a Jack tv series, I'd still like to see a movie adaptation of The Tomb. A couple of us on facebook are pulling for Ben Foster as Jack. He's got a kind of everyman look, about the right height and build, and can be convincing in fight scenes(had a great scene in Alpha dog).
-

I'm gonna be posting this around quite a bit, so apologies ahead of time if this post gets annoying. Hey fellow TBers. I'm writing a piece on the current state of AICN and how it got where it is. This isn't for a class or anything. It's just something I feel very strongly about and I'd like to write about it. I need some help with something. A key point in the article is going to be "pwesents". I feel like no elaboration is necessary as to why. If you post here regularly, you know. Here's my question: I know that the original "pwesents" post is long gone. However, I have heard that some people have screencaps or have the exact quote saved, etcetera. If someone could get me the screencap or the quote (preferably soon, I wanna get this piece knocked out) I would very much appreciate it. I want to have this quote cited as accurately as possible. Thanks so much guys, and sorry to be spamming the TB like this.

Sly and Arnold need to get around to making that CONTRA movie soon
by lv_426
Seriously, get a whacked out of their gourd (in a good way) visual stylist of a director like Tarsem to take the crazy Aliens + Predator + Total Recall feel and design of those classic Contra side scrolling shooters (Contra, Super C, and Contra III & 4) and make a hard core bug nuts insane big budget sci-fi/action extravaganza like we haven't seen in ages.
-
I could get behind a movie like that. Call it Prehistoria, Robosaurus Rex, or maybe Cybersaurus Rex or something like that. The year is 4559 A.D. Stallone is a cyborg super soldier fugitive that just pulled off the biggest heist of the millennium. He thinks that he and his pals got away with it, but are then pursued by the totalitarian government's top agent, played by Arnold. Using his army of robot troopers, Arnold corners Sly and his pals inside the ruins of Chicago, which is filled with cannibals and other deviants like psi-punks and murderous razor-bots. With no other option of escape, Sly uses the device he stole in the big heist, which is an experimental time machine. Just as he is about to time jump, Arnold and his robotroopers storm into the building, and all lifeforms and buildings within a three mile radius are then thrown back to the age of the dinosaurs when Sly activates the time machine. Now they are all trapped in the past, and are forced to form an alliance to survive the lush yet harsh wilds of Prehistoric Earth, as well as attacks from the psi-punks and razor-bots they have brought back with them.

Bravo,my good man! That post made my day!

Since Mann messed up the Keep so badly, I doubt that six Adversary Cycle films would be anywhere near what all us F. Paul Wilson fans are expecting. As I'm sure you know, the Cycle (especially Reprisal) has some very grisly scenes which probably wouldn't make through the censors with anything less than an X rating, if done properly. A theatrical version of Repairman Jack isn't dead, but after more than ten years of knocking around Hollywood, it's not on anyone's shortlist of films that need to be made right now. And that's a damn shame.

Well there is reason why Cosmotos shouldnt direct. He's dead and has been for many years. But before that he was rendered blind whne he went in for eye surgery in another country
