AMC is developing with “Goodfellas” screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi a series project based on “Goodfellas,” according to Deadline Hollywood.
This project has been floating around for at least a year. Pileggi told Culture Magazine in October 2010 that Martin Scorsese himself wants to be involved with Pileggi’s proposed “Goodfellas” TV prequel. Scorsese, who directed the pilot for HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” of course directed the 1990 “Goodfellas” movie.
"I want to do it, Marty wants to do it, Warner Bros wants to do it. Of course, you can't [do a sequel to] ‘Goodfellas,’ since we murdered everybody, or rather, everybody was murdered! There's nobody left," said Pileggi at the time, though Deadline makes no mention of Scosese’s invovlement.
If memory serves, AMC bleeps the "fucks" on "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad," but the language goes uncensored on the Blu-rays.
