"Gotham City Is Full Of Grace!" Some DARK KNIGHT RISES Spoilers!

Nordling here.
You see what this dead time in entertainment news does to me? It forces me to read things I shouldn't. So the rest of you are going to suffer as well. In tomorrow's Los Angeles Times (but available online today), Anne Hathaway reveals an integral scene about her character, Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, and what exactly her relationship with Bane (Tom Hardy) is all about. From the LA Times:
Gotham City is a war zone. A ruthless madman named Bane has ripped away any sense of security and the citizens, haggard and clutching suitcases with refugee anxiety, sit behind barbed wire waiting to see what will blow up next. A hooded prisoner is dragged in – it’s Bruce Wayne, one of Gotham’s most famous faces – but the eyes of the crowd go instead to the woman in black standing at the top of the staircase.
“Sorry to spoil things, boys, but Bane needs these guys himself,” says sultry Selina Kyle, played here by actress Anne Hathaway, navigating the steps with stiletto heels that, on closer inspection, turn out to have serrated edges capable of leaving nasty claw marks in a fight. She also wears high-tech goggles that, when not in use, flip up and resemble feline ears.
Hathaway goes on to say that she was inspired by Hedy (not Hedley) Lamarr when coming up with her character: “I know this sounds odd, but her breathing is extraordinary. She takes these long, deep, languid breaths and exhales slowly. There’s a shot of her in ECSTASY exhaling a cigarette and I took probably five breaths during her one exhale. So I started working on my breathing a lot.”
I'm curious to see how those heels work in action, and I anticipate some copycat costumes next Halloween, if the proliferation of Heath Ledger Joker costumes in 2008 was any indication.
Nordling, out.

Great...now I'm gonna be all distracted by Hathaway's breathing 'n shit.

Just kidding.
-
spoliers are great, looking forward to film a great deal.. I'M BATMAN!!
-
Thanks for nothing Batman. He only made things WORSE than they already were.
-
fuck...i wouldve never guessed there would be breathing. movie ruined now.
-
...by the end of the first half-hour of the film. Bane, Kyle and Co. will discover Wayne Enterprises' batmobiles and batcycle...and use them to control the masses. Bruce Wayne finds his way...again...and comes to the rescue. The whole thing will be a parable regarding the selfish whining of the Occupy Protest morons getting their way and then realizing their own stupidity.
-
might be sharp, but they still make you run like a girl. I'm not believing the "every single thing on this costume is practical" quote in that regard.
-

Are we supposed to understand anything from that scene description?
by golden tribw
Bruce Wayne is dragged in (somewhere) in front of a crowd (of unknown people) and Catwoman tells them, Sorry to spoil your fun but Bane needs these guys himself. All we learn from that is that Catwoman is (temporarily/pretending to be) allied with Bane and that Batman first gets dragged in front of people who are NOT Bane.
-
Dec. 29, 2011, 3:57 p.m. CST
Agree Hathaway is too sweet for this role. The trailer did not do anything to discredit that notion.
by golden tribw
I am sure the movie will be entertaining, but we'll have to see how good.
-
The fact that her goggles turn into cat ears when not in use? Oooooooooooh! Or that her stiletto heals have razor edges? Ooooooooooh! Yu RUINED the movie for me! It's all spoiled for me now! LOL.....NOT!
-
other then that Selina works for Bane, at least for a while (I doubt she'll be bad the whole time, but then that would be kind of a twist).
-
Glad Nolan hasn't ruined any decent villans though, just second stringers.

And Hathaway is too "sweet" for the role the same way Heath was too "pretty"

It's this weird thing called acting they do.

Let's hope the franchise takes a break then we get what we all want in a couple of years time...Frank Millers older take on Batman(not to be directed by Frank Miller).

Hedy (not Hedley) Lamarr.

I remember allllllll the whinning when Ledger was cast as the Joker. That's why we're sitting at computers and Iphones ranting & Nolan is making billion dollar movies, face facts people, we don't know shit about shit. Deal with it.
by cameron
Will Hathaway be great? i've no idea, will Hardy be great as Bane? Don't know that one either, but in the great sheme of things my opinion only matters to me. Nolan seems to think it'll all come together, and his track record's been pretty good so far. Would i rather go see Whedon's Avengers? No, and that's the one thing i'm sure of.

And for my next trick, Jessie Owens!

I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists. Add Bane. It works.
-
can't really buy Anne as a bad ass but I haven't seen the film.
-
People had begun to warm to Ledger after the initial teaser came out ("people will die...i'm a man of my word") and then really got enthused after the first full trailer. Hathaway looked ridiculous in her first pics and still is ridiculous with her whispering in the trailer. Other than not being able to understand him, Bane seems OK, lol. And the whole whiny, give-me-something-for-nothing OWS protest(already more unpopular than the tea party) angle will be dated by next summer.

will be anywhere near as good as Heath as the Joker then I got a bag of crack rocks to sell you. So the story is Bane and Catwoman take over Gotham while Batman is in retirement and they throw Bruce into prison then he rises as Batman and kicks their teeth in. Roll credits. There weren't any spoilers? Sounds lame btw.

by Mr. Nice Gaius
Between this (I didn't read the article) and the hints from the last trailer, the plot-line seems to be rather clear. I hope Nolan has got a few surprises left because I almost feel like I know how this will go down.
-
...our token you-know-whats are still unable to understand the OWS movement. And I'm not surprised.
-
Sounds like Bruce is abducted with other Gotham fat-cats by an angry mob during the assault on the rich party which we see in the trailers. It's also possible that Cat Woman is actually rescuing Bruce from the mob during this scene, rather than simply delivering him to Bane...
-
Here in Milwaukee, the local news interviewed a protester (from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee...there was a walkout at the school) who was participating in the local OWS movement and asked him what the whole thing was about and what he wanted. He responded that he wanted free health care and free tuition. The guy had no answer when asked who should pay for his freebies.

Everything else looks pretty cool. I hated the Hathaway casting at first, thought she was too much of a dorky, over-wrought theater type who happens to be attractive. But I've liked her scenes so far.

The biggest problem all the fucktards who are frightened of women had with Begins was Katie Holmes. The biggest problem all the pathetic total cock-ends who have no woman in their lives but their sister and their mother had with TDK was Maggie Gyllenhall.<p> Now guess what they think the problem is with TDKR?

Don't know why some folks take tidbits like this, fill in the blanks with what they assume could make the movie shitty, and then decide it's going to be shit. I mean I do know why. It's just stupid.

Taggart: Well, that's where we go a-ridin' into town, a-whompin' and a-whumpin' every livin' thing that moves within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course. Lammar: You spare the women? Taggart: Naw, we rape the shit out of them at the Number Six Dance later on Lammar: Marvelous!

Batman Beyond would be interesting to see, but I don't know how it could be done well. You'd need to clone the Blade Runner visuals or do it green screen like 300 or something, but it could be interesting to see. Too bad Kirk Douglas had the stroke and can't speak well anymore, he'd have been great as Old Bruce Wayne.

Doesn't mean the movement is ridiculous. It just means that guy is, likely, an idiot with a personal reason for being there.
-
i was worried that hathaway didn't have the right breathing to pull this off. nothing left to worry about.

I really would rather see a Batfilm about him taking down a baddy that's not out to destroy Gotham. That's such a corny thing for a villain to do.

And I'M Batman
-
I always find it amusing when they try to prove their smarter or "better" than me. Listen, bitches. I don't give a damn how many A+'s you got in school. Do you want to fuck or not? That's all I need to know.
-
I doubt if Jennifer Lawrence was cast in a Batman film, there would be many complaints. But people just don't care for Katie Holmes...probably due to the Tom Cruise connection... and Maggie Gyllenhall just always comes off weird, so I don't blame them for not liking her in the part. BTW, the poster who said Anne Hathaway comes off as an overly serious theater major is right on the money.
-
we already know that GC is in ruins and controlled by Bane's army which is probably consisted of rejects, lowlifes and the lowest social class. We know from the trailer that Wayne is Bane's prisoner, kept somewhere, maybe in Arkham Asylum with the rest of his rich friends. And we know from the comics, that Catwoman is a thief who often allies herself with villains, but at the end she always turns to the good side and helps Batman since she is in love with him. So Hathaway didnt spoil much apart from that scene where she,i suppose, saves Wayne from the angry mob and brings him to Bane.
-
WORD.
-
Yeah, it's getting funnier every day on this sight, I love the douchebags who are like "Yeah, Nolan's fucking stupid, it's all so obvious, Hathaway and Hardy take over Gotham and then Batman rises and wins, roll credits." Yeah, I'm sure it's that simple, just like it was with TDK, and how all the same fuckheads said how obvious THAT movie was gonna be and were really fucking wrong. Does anybody believe Nolan would actually release a trailer that would give away the whole story? Fucking incredible how fucking dumb you people are. DRSTRANGERLOVE is right on, wait and see the movie, you have NO idea how good anyone is gonna be, so shut the fuck up bitches!!!!

with the hero being a rich sociopath dressed as a bat who fights other sociopath villains wearing bad makeup. And you are playing a female character whose only purpose in the film,is to show her tits and ass in a latex cat-suit. I am not saying that Hathaway shouldnt take her acting with this role seriously, and i am glad that, like Ledger, she is trying to give her own take on her character, but she should keep things down to reality: she is making a movie to sell toys, not the next Casablanca..

by KilliK
didnt we already have this with Joker? ok with Bane,Nolan goes to the next level,he destroys half of GC and turns it into a battleground.Bane is going to be the mutant leader from the TDKR GN.He wants to help GC by destroying it so that from its ashes a new order of society rises. The same League of Shadows crap. Wayne has retired as Batman and is not doing anything when Bane conquers GC,not even when he is captured by Bane with the rest of the high society. He is not doing anything because he has lost the faith in himself and in what the Batman symbolizes, thus leaving the fate of GC to the citizens. he is waiting for them to rebel against Bane and take their city back. But they dont have a hero,a leader to rise them and lead,so the situation doesnt change. Then after some guidance and encouragement from Alfred,Marion Cotillard's character and after Gordon is almost killed, Wayne decides to become Batman again and with the help of Catwoman,he leads the GC citizens to rise and rebel against Bane. Thus the time of the movie,TDRises,Batman becomes the symbol of the GC rebellion.Just like what happened in the end of the TDKR GN.
-
On average, the people who had time to go and participate were not the brightest people the movement had to offer. Plenty of sympathizers, myself included, had jobs to be at. But we were glad those morons were there making the statement that we couldn't make yet, because for this brief moment we are employed. Free stuff from the government, in my mind, were not the issue. The ransacking of the world's economy by those we gave keys to the vaults, that's my problem. Hence the "WS" after the "O". While you wingnuts were so clueless, you kept asking why they don't go to Washington instead. And as if protests in Washington would have even raised an eyebrow.

I don't think "sociopath" means what you think it means. The only sociopath in this story so far has been the Joker. R'as al Ghul was a social crusader (terrorist). Jonathan Crane was a common criminal. Bruce Wayne seemingly is a highly functional sufferer of dissociative identity disorder (multiple personalities), but he's definitely not a sociopath.
-
...I'd love to see Hathaway dryhump a Blind Justice statue.

Maybe the football stadium one. Or maybe he saw his son from TDK in the Batgirl costume, calling himself Barbara.

And most of us know in our guts that the old ways of doing things in North America is about to crash; it is always helpful to have an artist of his stature interpret our pain and confusion. Batman is after all the Shadow Archetype fused with the Hero Archetype; Bane is his mirror image, and sees himself as a liberator, not a tyrant. That's been the tension between them in the graphic novels. You will see Bane take down any criminal or gang boss who doesn't follow his new order of things; as the Joker knew all too well, Batman is too psychotic to be reasoned with.

The income tax was ruled unconstitutional until 1913
by WINONA_RYDERS_PUSSY_JUICE
When the 16th ammendment was passed. Do you think the US economy/government functioned well prior to 1913? Hint:Yes Guess what else happened in 1913. The Federal Reserve Act was passed. This is no coincidence. The Federal Reserve is a private corporation run by an international bank cartel. How else can the US government afford to pay interest on the fiat money they printed out of thin air to lend to us? Income tax. Problem solved. And now our currency is worthless toilet paper and the richest banking families own and control the majority of the country's wealth and infrastructure. I support the 99ers only because they speak about income equality, however there are idiots within the groups that are beyond slackers and dampen an overall decent message. The tea party had potential with its smaller government agenda and concerns about excessive spending but they went corporate then crazy and racist and their message was lost. As for the film, I really don't have any concerns about casting. In terms of Hathaway playing Catwoman I think back to Havoc, also with her TDKR costar Gordon-Levitt. She can play dark. I have no doubt that she'll do well on the performance. The only issue I have is the return of Ra's al Goul. I thought he died in the train crash now he's back. I hope they're flashbacks because if this SOB returns from the dead that whole "real and plausible" aesthetic Nolan's aiming goes right out the window. Keep the peace boys, this is a movie site.

Not relapse and resort to the same extravagantly fantastical neon-colored cartoony bullshit that nearly killed the franchise in the first place. Keep it on the right track. Preferable actors would be either Michael Fassbender or, yes, Ryan Gosling. But if you're looking for somebody still in their mid-to-late twenties, I couldn't help you there. As one poster already said, they all probably look like Jonas Brothers. I occasionally consider the probability that David Flinched would direct a better and more engrossing Batman story than Nolan, given the right detective, crime-noir story. Eastwood probably would be a very close second impo. So picture it: A dark-haired Ryan Gosling in a Batman story directed by David Fincher. That's my idea of a decent "reboot" that doesn't end up being another lazy piece of shit like Batman & Robin in the process. (*Batman Beyond wouldn't hurt, either. As long as a live action version isn't "too" over-the-top, which I recognize would be hard to do if based directly from a cartoon series.)

Nolan is apparently producing the next film
by WINONA_RYDERS_PUSSY_JUICE
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman_films Future With the conclusion of Christopher Nolan's current trilogy, Warner Bros. plans to produce a Justice League film, targeted for a 2015 release. While the Batman franchise will again be revamped to fit into the Justice League universe, Nolan and his wife, Emma Thomas, will stay on as producers for the project.

Simple, make Justice League 15 years in the future with aged Batman
by ruven76
That way you can have your young idealistic version of Superman that everyone wants to see. And the gritty and world weary veteran of fighting villain version of Batman. This generation has already seen enough of these guys origins. And we have had a lot of time now with two separate and successful but very different types of Batman. The Batman not yet dealt with is the older Batman who has to rely more and more on technology. A new Batman trilogy could then be done concurrently with the Justice League movie and within its universe. Which would be a futuristic version of what Nolan has done. Allowing the Nolans to play with a near future setting while allowing Batman to introduce more sci-fi fantasy elements that many believe are missing from Nolans take on the material. Nolan will no longer direct but produce. Bale is not needed as he can be replaced if the character is sufficiently aged to where certain changes are plausible. A new Batman movie could have a younger actor still playing Bruce Wayne thanks to the Lazarus pit taking Bruce back to when he was in his late 20's. Then they probably hand things off to a guy like Josh Hartnett so he can team up with Henry Cavill in Justice League.

Please note Richard Lester has one redeeming asset to his name:
by AllThosePowers
The perry white scene leading up to the clark kent alley change sequence in Lester's version of SupermanII is consider an absolute masterclass on how to present such an iconic hero on the silver screen, I very much doubt any filmmaker today tackling a superman feature will ever even begin to consider approaching it in this manner; such imagery and artistry is rare, the wide shot, the flow and swishhh-away is pure style and deep substance. A scene that every filmschool major should study and study it they must, particularly in grainy VHS quality, superb.

re: "if i am not mistaken, sociopath is nowadays the PC word for the psychopaths.and Batman is a psychopath."
by buggerbugger
Sociopaths and psychopaths are two different things. A psychopath can "fake" being normal and can blend into society, even reach the highest rungs of the societal ladder. A sociopath tends not to do these things very well. So, yes, Wayne is probably classified as a psychopathic type, but he isn't sociopathic. You'd spot him a mile off as being, um, "not normal".
-
Heath may be gone but the Joker is presumably still kicking around somewhere. He has almost certainly left him mark on Gotham somehow.
-
Mmmm_MMM!
-
and I believe Bruce Wayne suffers from trauma induced schizoid or schizotypal personality disorders, Cluster A disorders characterized by odd, eccentric thinking or behavior. symptoms include lack of interest or discomfort in social relationships, limited range of emotional expression, flat or inappropriate emotional responses, inability to interact with normal social cues, peculiar dress, and "magical" beliefs such as believing you possess powers and abilities others do not. and for the record serrated stilleto heels would be practical in so far as they could allow traction on brick and mortar walls if they were strong enough to support the weight of the wearer, and sharp enough to dig into the pourous materials. although this would still require some kind of hand attachment to make vertical scaling possible.
-
It will be glorious! Can Burton come back and make Batman fun again please?
-
Yeah well I hope we get some gratuitous sex and violence this time. Nolan can redeem the entire franchise with some fight scenes that you can actually make out what's happening -and that don't suck shit. Ya see all of the fight scenes in these batman movies eat the rice shit out of a dead Japanese ww2 fighter pilot's asshole. I want a Neo-level fight just once from Batman. I want to see some Ip Man rattatats or something. Anything- just some fucking point a to point b simple doodah bashing. Can we maybe trap batman in a brightly lit room and attack him with several goons? Like an alien out of his natural environment I want to see batman go feral on some bitch asses. I want the bathroom fight from Danny the Dog inserted in the middle of this movie. Just fucking involve the audience in the fight for crying out loud.

Looks like he got it at an army surplus store. God what's the point of being Batman without cool looking equipment.
-
LMAO! Kilmer's thinking: Mmmh... that winsome young chap is shaking his Argyles!
-
Between that and the 6 minute preview with the blood transfusion, the multiple tumblers, catwoman on the cycle, etc.. We can all assume that he does somehow enbiggen himself from all the blood, he's taking blood from the guys catwoman is kidnapping for him, he's got the plans for all the bat gagdets, and he's probably figured out who Bats really is. At the end of the last movie he (Batman) was the badguy. there's no hero to save Gotham and it's descended into chaos with no white knight (Dent is dead), no dark knight (Bats is broken) and no commissioner (he's laid up in the hospital in the trailer). We can probably figure out the rest of the movie via speculation, even by accident.
-
Seriously. What is that?

Then this shit! So far this movie hasn't gotten me excited at all.:(

..could see that happening...unfortunatley!! Nuthin against worthington, first saw him in primal and liked him an the movie..it's just that i would like to see a batMAN not a batguy.. besides i've allways thought that playing batman is easy (just channel dirty harry) but pulling off (ooer) bruce wayne is tricky. Bale has been the best, Keaton the worst..i mean he bumbled about when he was alone.

Batman hasn't fought enough villains. And some villains he should fight more than once.

Yep, SOME Ron Paul supporters are "troothers," unsurprisingly. 9/11 has been proven to be an inside job. We've moved on to Wall Street and the global banking system. Check out this movie, see for yourself. http://youtu.be/VebOTc-7shU

and Bale the worst. He's way too sane and normal. It's not Bale's fault, it's the direction.

Nordling and others on this site are not going to post any THE DARK KNIGHT RISES spoilers at all, if they can help it. Which means this site is completely worthless for anything except profit for the contributors; actual financial profit by way of paycheck, or, personal profit by way of set visits, interviews, industry connections, etc. This really has become a "movie site" that involves reposting from OTHER sites and posting "reviews", "articles", or interviews from the contributors. Nothing more. Could people please start posting the names of OTHER movie sites that ARE revealing THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, and/or other big release movie news and spoilers? Post the names in the subject lines. Maybe that might wake the people who work for this site up.

Psychopaths and Sociopaths are two different things, there is no need for a "politically correct" name for a psychopath... As for Batman being one - is it not that he is empathic that he is Batman rather than a psychopath? His fathers death is the catalyst for Batmans creation and it is his ideals that get put into him. He looks out for the innocent.

Wait a second! Some people seriously believe there will be some deep social commentary in this film?!
by hank henshaw
Some seriously believe there will be some sort of answer in Dark Knight Rises to the economic, socio-political problems in the western civilization? Woah! I mean, I didn't like TDK much, but I find it hard to believe that even those that love the movie really think there was some strong underlying message about terrorism or anything of that sort. It was a well-made, nicely acted blockbuster movie... that I happen not to like.

In regards to Hathaway, I will reserve judgement until I see the film
by WeylandYutani
Jonathan Demme's Rachel Getting Married was a break out for her. I am sure Nolan saw this film when she was under consideration for the role of Selina Kyle.
-
I just don't get it. Why does she keep getting work? Everytime I see her face I feel like dropping into a coma. Honestly this is about as interesting as Alicia Silverstone playing batgirl. I mean I don't hate her but - why? Why? She's blah. Just blah blah blah.

No thank you. Your mom beat you to it.

Will we see Bane de-masked ? Yes, sure as you're bloated body being found in your mother's basement.

Gosh, he wears a mask because he's receiving a regular dose of anesthetic gas. Weakness? Gee, do you suppose? Is it possible? Nolan's a fucking hack.

And after Google image searching her name I have to say that my impression of her remains unchanged. She's like one of those reasonably fit girls that sits in the background of any bar/coffee shop scene in a sitcom.

I read this days ago on Blastr.

Bruce is an unfulfilled guy, who represents the unfulfilled aspect of masculinity (Dev), where Batman combines masculinity (Dev) with an aspect of preserved power (Krishna). The Joker and Catwoman represent aspects of the unfulfilled feminine aspect (Devi), while the Scarecrow represents wisdom (Ganesh), Commissioner Gordon represents all unchallenged rule (Vishnu) living under a well-balanced marriage with his wife (Dev-Devi harmony), aided by his sidekick Batman (Krishna) to preserve order. Lucius Fox represents light (Surya), who is there to cast light on Bruce Wayne's designs. Bane is different in that he is a masculine figure (Dev), like Bruce Wayne, but he is an inharmonious combination of masculinity and light (Surya), achieving tentative alliances from the wisdom and feminine aspect characters, but not harmony. Through this tentative alliance, Bane will likely achieve Shiva, but we'll see transformation and destruction before we see unity. Unity is represented by the masculine (sun) and the feminine (moon) as symbols of spiritual rising, hence the title.
-
To say that the dark knight rises is to say that Batman probably wins, as Bane has no aspect of Krishna - darkness, or fear. Bane might achieve transformation, then destruction of civilization (Shiva), then a kind of death (the dark of Krishna), achieving the rise of unified male/female aspects (Brahma) as represented by a new civilization, not individuals!

Reelheed, Hathaway was also casted because she can bring in more women.

She isn't right for the part, but she can bring in women who would otherwise pass on this kind of film.

Bane kidnaps Gothum's rich and puts them in a jail. Selina (Catwoman) helps him. Marion Cotillard is Talia Ra's Al Ghul; she comes to Gothum to finish her father's work. Bane is actually HER henchman. Bane defects when Talia starts taking an interest in Batman. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is being used by Talia. He believes he's in love with her. He's used by Bane to get information to help him. Selina (Catwoman) defects to help Batman; In casting notes, it was stated that Nolan was looking for two female leads: One a villain. The belief was that people would assume Catwoman was the "villain", leaving Cotillard's character the "female love interest". However, since Selina joins Batman towards the end SHE'S the actual love interest (albeit, a "mysterious" one), while Cotillard, being Talia, is the villain. Bane went through the League of Shadows and fell in love with Talia. Once Talia starts liking Batman/Bruce, Bane loses it and goes berserk. Gothum is declared a war zone and is closed off to the outside world. The ending involves Batman and Catwoman trying to bring down Bane and Talia; That's right: The cliched "Guy goes after guy" and "girl goes after girl". Batman and Catwoman, of course, prevail, and they part ways as partners AND enemies. Batman either comes flying towards the screen or goes flying into the distance with a totally unnecessary imax shot of Gothum. Fade to black. THE END.

...why do action movies always portray "action" women with their hair down and wearing high heels? I can just about guarantee you that any and all females EVER involved with ANY military action on ANY level in the 'real' world either already had short hair or had it wrapped super-tight in a bun or strapped down ponytail. And wearing any type of "sexual evocative" footwear is simply ludicrous on every level. I've had long hair and I can tell you that ANY visually precise work is almost impossible if your hair is hanging in your face. Forget trying to be stealthy outdoors with a head of hair flipping all over the place in the wind - much less running, aiming, moving, basically everything an action "star" might perform is significantly hampered by having long hair unbound. And that doesn't even begin to discuss the potential of getting long hair stuck in something or grabbed (obviously) by an opponent. High-heeled action movie women is pure 12 year old boy 5-finger fantasy bullshit. I'm not picking on Dark Knight Rises here in particular but seeing "Catwoman" with her hair down and this report of "stilettos with ridges that leave claw marks" just smacks of not remotely "practical costume" whatsoever. That notion, a "sexy" catwoman instead of a badass cat-burgular who happens to be a woman, was my original concern for putting this character in these Nolan-interpreted Batman movies. I still think a "sexualized" Catwoman has no place in Nolan's version of Batman but as Nolan has proven quite adept at most all things cinema, I do hope any reservations I may have are just idiot rambling and unneeded concern. But that doesn't change the idea that having action women with high-heels and long hair hanging down isn't stupid. You want to see a slightly more accurate to what is probably actually true 'female thief' in a movie? Catherine Zeta-Jones in the beginning of 'Entrapment' - I don't recall if she removed her full head mask, but if she didn't, you'd never really know if it was a man or a woman in the suit (I believe she even wears a kevlar vest which would tend to reduce her more obvious feminine attributes, etc).
-
It will be another boring, lifeless, illuminati propaganda film just like the Dark Knight. Complete with terrible editing, self-important dialogue, shakey camera used to hide the shitty fight choreography, laziness and a keen inability in making the fantastical realistic, so they just strip the fantastical and make a boring crime thriller with Batman characters, supposed to be "Gritty" but no gore or violence to give the feeling of danger. PG-13 movies cannot be GRITTY.
