Gab Here About THE X FACTOR And AMERICAN HORROR STORY Finales And More!!

Published at: Dec. 21, 2011, 7:03 p.m. CST

I am – Hercules!!

Lots more repeats for the second night of Hanukkah, with a few exceptions.

A promo for the season finale of “American Horror Story,” long ago renewed for a second season:

Fox is billing tonight’s “X Factor” (also renewed for a second season) as the first half of its season finale. While it’s weak in ratings by “American Idol” standards, note last week it tied “Criminal Minds” for first place in adults 18-49:

There's no way I'm first on this

    AMHS amazing as always

    by KoolerThanJesus

Now THAT is how you set up a second season.

  • Dec. 21, 2011, 10:22 p.m. CST

I will add about Jessica Lange

    by KoolerThanJesus

Amazing actress but that goes without saying. I thought the twist for the season cliffhanger was about to be that Constance has been dead this whole time. Which would explain why the ghosts leave her alone in the house. But then they end with the total Omen mind fuck.

  • Dec. 21, 2011, 10:22 p.m. CST

I think American Horror Story should end right there.

    by tonagan

I'm just worried that it will get too familiar and boring if they kept going with that storyline.

  • Dec. 21, 2011, 10:36 p.m. CST

    Eh!

    by Rob0729

I know they ended up cutting a lot of the finale because of shooting time constraints, but the whole thing came off rushed and anticlimactic. They killed off Ben too quickly. The other family were in and out of the house in five seconds. I almost wished they would have just delayed the finale for a few weeks and done it right. The season really kind of went out with a whimper. A lot of potential for season two, but a little unsatisfying ending to season one.

  • Dec. 21, 2011, 10:53 p.m. CST

BTW, why did they cut even more?

    by Rob0729

When they announced that they couldn't shoot the entire finale because there wasn't enough time, they said they shot enough for an hour and a half finale. The final cut that aired tonight was under an hour and ten minutes. It was rushed enough as it was, couldn't they have used the extra 20 minutes to add a little tension?

AHS, as a series, really did turn out to be a pleasant surprise.

    by I_Love_LanaLang

Like a lot of people, I assumed it would be a lame low-budget production with shoddy writing and cheap thrills. While it does have its share of plot holes, the writing and sheer madness of the show has been entertaining. The acting has been quite strong throughout almost the entire cast. One thing that still bothers me is the fact that Violet looks nothing like either of her parents. The actress playing Violet has been excellent, but I wish casting directors would choose child actors who at least somewhat resemble one or both parents in a show. It's a niggling complaint, but one that consistently bothers me.

    Spoiler for AHS...

    by Prof. Pop-Cult

The finale felt like the end of the series, because the rumor is that next season will be an entirely new cast, storyline and locale. And it may not even deal with ghosts. The original plan was that "American Horror Story" would be a seasonal anthology series -- each season would tell a different story with a different cast.

  • Dec. 22, 2011, 6:56 a.m. CST

    Prof. That would be surprising

    by Monolith_Jones

I hope they continue with this cast, there's still a lot of story left I believe.

  • Dec. 22, 2011, 6:56 a.m. CST

    Hammer house of Horror

    by Mr_P

AMHS gives the same vibe as the old Hammer House of Horror UK tv series from the 70's early 80's........this is a very good thing indeed.

  • I bet the actors would love that. By the way, are American Horror Story fans called AHSholes?

  • Dec. 22, 2011, 11:05 a.m. CST

    Did anyone else...

    by v1cious

get a Beetlejuice from the second half of the American Horror Story finale? I can't wait to see what they do with season 2. I'm guessing Constance will be a well... constant in all the stories.

  • Viewers love the cast and characters, and Jessica Lange stole the show. Yet supposedly Ryan Murphy's vision for the series is that the show would chronicle a different horror storyline for each season. It would be quite trippy if they reused most of the same actors, had them play different characters each season, treating the cast like members of a stage company whose productions happen to be televised. It would be revolutionary and ballsy for Murphy and FX if they went ahead with this. The season finale simply had a sense of finality to the Harmon family story -- the revelation that Constance's grandson killed his nanny worked like the standard horror movie trope of the final scene ending in an unresolved twist.

  • I don't mean some lame montage where we don't see anything. I mean, her bent over getting it hard from behind. If so, then AHS is the greatest show in the history of TV.

    American Horror Story...

    by HongKongCavalier

The only horror was in the title and the finale was a crappy combination of "Beetlejuice", "Primal Fear" & "Halloween" ... but ya got me to watch every episode so grats (too bad I only watched hoping it'd get better)

    Ryan Murphy interview...

    by TopHat

"In a conference call with reporters on Thursday, the show’s cocreator confirmed that Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott will not be back as series regulars in Season 2. Also, say goodbye to that creepy house. “The second season of the show will [feature] a brand new home or building to haunt,” Murphy said. “It will also have a new overriding theme.” And in an unprecedented twist for an ongoing series, some current castmembers will return — but they’ll be playing new characters."

  • Collider confirmed it this morning: http://collider.com/american-horror-story-season-2-preview-news/133741/

  • Lange absolutely fucking stole the show with her performance as Constance. It would be good for this seasonal anthology format if it kept at least one actor throughout most of its seasons, and Lange could be perfect. As for Peters, I know several females who watched and obsessed over the show simply because of him. Murphy would be stupid not to create a big role for him next season. It wouldn't surprise me if the FX executives have agreed to go with this unusual seasonal anthology format so long as Lange and Peters get prominent roles in the second season story.

Check out the big balls on AHS

    by DynamixRo

New characters/story/setting each season, and keep some of the actors, but in different roles?! This I have to see. P.S. Alexandra Breckenridge will play a sexy nurse, right?

  • Dec. 22, 2011, 3:49 p.m. CST

    WOW Re:AHS

    by Monolith_Jones

That is ballsy. I don't know about the same actor/different character thing, unless there's going to be a connection or something.

  • Dec. 22, 2011, 8:29 p.m. CST

    Good Move

    by rakesh patel

It always felt by the to me by the pace it was going that each season would be a self contained. I like the idea of new story new characters, with some of the old cast back ( reincarnation?!?!). The story for this (excellent) season has run it's course, a bit sad , but i have faith that next season will be just as good if not better. It shows you the balls of the show runners to start off with a clean slate. With each season as a standalone it will also allow new viewers to jump on board. Everyone that I've recommended this show to have become hooked. It's the right length for a season with no filler eps. Looking forward to the next season. Great job Folks at AHS, don't let me down like the walking dead did in s2!

  • Dec. 23, 2011, 4:37 a.m. CST

    NICE!

    by ILK

That's what Heroes should have stuck to. With maybe one or two, tops, fan favorites remaining.

Personally, I would be more impressed if they showed Frances Conroy in her maid outfit getting rodgered.
