FAST SIX Too Fast And Furious For One Film! It's A Two-Parter!!!

Published at:  Dec 21, 2011 9:34:48 AM CST

Beaks here...

Seems those FAST AND FURIOUS boys got themselves a whole heap of story to work through.

The Hollywood Reporter recently caught up with Vin Diesel, and the barrel-chested thespian has revealed that the sixth installment in the FAST AND FURIOUS franchise will be split into two parts. Quoth Vin...

"With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space..."

"We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages,” Diesel explained. “The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!’"

Well, I hope they take their time to get it all right. Actually, I don't really care. Just spend the next few months figuring out how to top the crazy set pieces that made FAST FIVE by far the best in the series, and we're good.

Enough of the cash-grab two-part films. If you want to make two, just make a part 7 later.

with diesel and the rock really made it for me- truly great. I´d love it if Stallone got these two for Expendables 3. Diesel would almost be guaranteed not to be game but the rock, I think, with his current drive to get to be a part of the franchising game in this and Joe, would be quite available.

The ROCK got beaten by Vin Diesel? That's just bullshit.

    by lcworld

It doesn't matter. The Rock will smack Vin silly the next time around. Kidding aside, if they can make good movies back 2 back the way the Hobbit is being shot, Avatar2&3 will be shot and they way Red Cliff was shot, then I'm all for it. But Matrix 2&3 wasn't the greatest. Red Cliff was ok.

Makes economic sense for the studios, spend 200mil and make 2 movies... instead of 150 mil for 1(ok or maybe 130mil).

I only saw the first one, as this isn't my kind of guilty pleasure. But people need to stop making fun of the fans of this franchise. From what I can tell, it doesn't pretend to be anything that it isn't.

    Fast Five sucked because...

    by jediwise

...there was only one race depicted in the entire film, and they were all the same model (stolen police cars). Every other race was hinted at, set up....then cut to driving the trophy back to the shop. And then at the end, Walker and Diesel are finally going to race. Big set up.... and cut to animated sequence of their cars driving around as credits roll.
And the vault-dragging scene was just fucking stupid.
The Rock and Diesel fighting was entertaining, but they dropped the Furious from the title, then dropped the Fast from the story.
I can see all those cars sitting still for free.

And what if we had a GTA game where we get something similar to what was in the game. But the story ends with the cops killing the main guy before he accomplishes his final task. Leave the audience wondering WTF. I'm sure the majority of people who played GTAIII only used cheats to fight the police. Who actually finished the story to the end?

Now these morons are trying to tell us there's some kind of magical, meaningful plot resolution that takes two films to wrap up? Nonsense.

This is a manufactured pseudo-event for marketing purposes. The studio sees cash to be had in HP/Twilight-style film-splitting, so they're going to stretch the usual bunch of garbage over two garbage films.

Beastie: Making fun of FnF franchise and fans...

    by lostcause

The reason they all bag it out despite it not trying to be soemthing it isn't, is because its fun and simple, and the elitist wangs that are on here can't find a high horse to jump on and get behind these movies.

Basically they rag on everyone for not being as smart as they are and not liking their movies because it takes a certain level of intelligence to scope the full depth of the movie, and when it comes to movies where you just watch, enjoy and don't have to think, they bag the shit out of the people who are "amused" by the shiny.

They're good movies for what they are, my only criticism about fast five is the cars took a bak seat to the man-lovin between vin and the rock.

Justin Lin is not getting better as a director; he got worse.

    by reise reise

I actually liked "Fast Five" quite a bit but Justin Lin has yet to follow up on the promise he showed in his terrific indie film "Better Luck Tomorrow." The attention to character and drama he showed in that film has pretty much gone missing in all of the films he has made since then. Also, despite having such a small budget, "Better Luck Tomorrow" is one fantastic-looking movie. I never really thought he would end up being master of the Fast and Furious franchise.

    Diesels ALWAYS says this

    by bass ackwards

Though, in retrospect, he's always been right too.

But when he came back for the fourth film, he said that film was the start of a new trilogy. And he said that about the 5th film. So he's aiming a little lower now, saying the 6th film is only part of a two film plan.

Which means he'll probably go back to talking about how the next Riddick film is actually part of a new Riddick trilogy, just like the last one was.

On a side note, I may be reading too many Vin Diesel stories.

If they're going to go ahead with that idea, then I think they should just go completely bugnuts with the titles in future. I LOVE a good action movie, but 2 hours of ape men sweating and swearingthru a script deprived movie then bonding in homoerotic clinches....Not my thang!

DRIVING A GIANT TABLE TRUCK ALONGSIDE A TRAIN, BLOWING SIDE OF CAR FROM TRAIN, DRIVING RACING CARS OFF OF TRAINS AND LANDING FINELY TUNED CAR IN PRISTENE CONDITION IN THE FUCKING STONEY DESERT...REALLY!!!!

THE HEIST; SWEET JESUS WHEN THIS STARTED I THOUGHT I'D GOT IT WRONG & FF5 WAS A COMEDY!!
MY BRAIN CAN'T COMPREHEND JUST HOW AWEFUL IT WAS....THAT WAS UNTIL THE CLIMAX OF 2 SPORTS CARS DRAGGING A 50 TON SAFE ALONG A ROAD WHILE MAINTAINING FULL SPEED AND CONTROL, CRASHING SAID SAFE THRU BUILDINGS, NO ONE IS KILLED WHILE THIS MADNESS GOES ON, AND ON AND ON, REALLY REALLY REALLY!!!!!!!!!

I FELT SO DUMB AFTER WATCHING THIS I HAD TO READ TWO CHAPTERS OF MARCEL PROUST TO SAVE MY BRAIN!!

I returned the movie to my brother and had to agree with him, 'you're right' I said 'It was better than the others. He smiled and nodded. I no longer answer the phone.

The movies are fine for what they are, but let's not pretend that the characters are anything other than cardboard cut outs, most definitely not involved in epic spanning story lines requiring multiple continued installments.

The movies are great car stunt work, with a threadbare 'plot' to hang all the action on.

    Tokyo Drift!

Fast Five was an amazing action film, but I still think Tokyo Drift is by far the best in the series.

    Loved "Fast Five"

The "buy in" was that first scene, where a bus loaded with people hits a car and flips. THAT is the moment to get up and leave the theater and get your money back.

But if you stay...you have elected to watch a movie with Bugs Bunny physics, that only makes sense on its own crazy terms. A fantasy as surely as the Harry Potter universe. You don't watch Potter and then say: "but magic doesn't exist!"

This is a movie where physics is bent til it cracks, massive damage happens at top speed in the midst of crowded venues and no innocents are hurt, and the good guys, such as they are, are bad guys because the bad guys are good guys...or something. Oh, who cares? I simply dialed my head down to thirteen and had a wonderful time. I hope those of you who didn't got your money back.
