“The Life And Times Of Tim” returns to HBO tonight.

Like “The Walking Dead,” Chiller’s first TV movie “Remains” is based on a comic book series about a zombie apocalypse. Unlike “The Walking Dead, “Remains” never enjoyed the creative participation of Frank Darabont. Is “Remains” better than the weekend movies that run on Chiller’s sister channel Syfy?  Entertainment Weekly gives it a C+. Other reviewers seem to like it even less. But the presence of Lance Riddick may help those who can’t wait for the Jan. 13 return of “Fringe.

Back on the broadcast side? NBC has fresh “Grimm” and “Chuck.”

ABC just announced it’s cancelling its long-running reality show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” The final episode will air Jan. 13, but specials are likely to follow.

It feels strange that on Fridays, Discovery has a series titled “Gold Rush” that beats all the Friday broadcast series.
