HORNS Has Its Director!

Nordling here.

Joe Hill's HORNS is a damn good horror novel.  It's just a terrific read, and Hill's already proven for some time now that he's got the chops that his old man has.  I've been wanting to see a film of HORNS since I read it, and the Hollywood Reporter announced today that the studio has found the director for the project - Alexandre Aja (PIRANHA, HIGH TENSION).  HORNS is about a young man who wakes up with devil horns on his head, and he finds that he can manipulate people to do bad deeds if he so wants.  This all ties in somehow to the death of his girlfriend, and he decides to use his newfound abilities to figure out how she died.

I liked HIGH TENSION enough that I can see Aja turning this into something suitably twisted, scary, and funny, much like the book.  I'd be very curious to see who they would cast as the lead - while reading it I always imagined that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would kill in that part.  HORNS will be released through Mandalay Pictures, with Cathy Schulman and Peter Guber producing.

Nordling, out.
