A Really Awesome Teaser Trailer For LOCK OUT!
Nordling here.
I know next to nothing about LOCK OUT, which stars Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace, is produced by Luc Besson, and comes out next year. I looked at the plot synopsis and it sounds like it's a kind of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK riff. But judging by this international teaser, it looks like a hell of a lot of fun. I've been waiting to see Pearce do something like this since L.A. CONFIDENTIAL, really - although he's a terrific actor, he's never played the smart-ass before and judging by the way Peter Stormare rips into him in the trailer, this is jus the tip of the iceberg of smartassery. Looks pretty great, honestly. Here's the teaser, thanks to BeyondHollywood.com:
LOCK OUT opens next spring, 2012. Nordling, out.

The guy on the phone is Sammy Jenkis
-
Looks pretty rad :)
-
Good teaser.
"His name was Fuck You. He was Asian."
That line made me laugh out loud. -
My kingdom for an edit button.
-
... for this years Most Underrated Movie With Guy Pearce In It award? All time favourite's Ravenous.
-
That Bruce Willis comment above is dead on. Hello, "The Last Boy Scout!"
March and April 2012 are looking fucking sweet.
Trampolining your wife! Bwahahahahaha! LMAO! -
Luc Besson, eh? The modern Corman? Who'd have thunk it...
-
And I was trampolining your wife.
*SMACK*
Then watch when Pearce comes back up, cigarette still in mouth, but it's all bent and shit, but Pearce looks unbothered as hell. ROFLMMFAO!
I cannot stop watching this and laughing! -

Maggice Grace...She looks a lot like Maggie, weird....Trailer looks cool, Guy needs a big role, he's too cool to linger in small roles like Hurt Locker. After LA Confidential & Memento i expected him to rocket like Russel Crowe. Fingers crossed for this.

You say that like it's a bad thing. ;-)
-
So we're adding riff to the sequel/remake/reboot list? Which is still pretty much saying they ripped off someone else's idea?
On the other hand, "trampolining your wife" is pretty funny. -
This looks great. What a breath of fresh air. Not a remake, sequel, prequel, re image, whatever!
I am excited! -
Mark Wahlberg
-
the effects are kinda cheap looking!
-
I get a Corbin Dallas vibe from Guy's character. Looks decent though.
-
We'll have some nice serious sci-fi another time. A gritty, fun, violent action flick in space will be a nice change of pace. Looks good.
-
On a separate issue, what's happening with the Chud website?
-
..looks like a flick he'd direct during his prime.
-
Loved Guy Pearce. He has been in desperate need of a breakout role. I really thought Memento was it, but alas, here we are.
And, were those Fireflies in the space sequence? Kinda similiar dontcha think? Shiny! -

Guy Pearce could make a living by being the poor man's version of Brad Pitt.

If Maggie Grace is in it, I'm there ...in a trenchcoat ...and nothing else.

damn must see Last Boy Scout. NOW!
-
Looks fun, yep and Pearce coming back into frame after the punch with a bent cigarette in his mouth is a nice touch.
The opening shots of the trailer kinda sets it up as a BIG sci fi... but the rest makes it look rather lower in budget and scope. -
This looks great
-
Or at least this trailer makes me think so. Because I very much enjoyed the dialogue parts, Pearce's wise-ass looks like a good proper wise-ass the sort Bruce Willis USED to be so good at. But then came along the sci-fi stuff and suddenly I was turned off. Hopefully they get the balance right though, it's certainly on my radar now.

Guy Pearce is the KING of little-seen, underrated flicks
by maxcalifornia.
Ravenous, First Snow, Animal Kingdom, The Proposition, etc. His movies are the jizz, and this looks hilarious/awesome.
-
I have no clue why it looks low budget. It's kinda confusing really as Guy Pearce is very selective about the films he stars in. There's other big names in there too. So why do the effects look cheaper than Star Trek Next Generation/Babylon 5..?
IMDB points to two directors on this project, neither of which has any solid background. Doesn't mean it won't be good. Just really curious why it looks so cheap! -
that was a fun trailer
-
today.
-
Not to say this trailer isn't fucking badass, because it is...Guy Pearce in THE PROPOSITION was almost classic oz-ploitation. ANYWAY Bloody-Disgusting broke the CABIN IN THE WOODS trailer about an hour ago. Here ya go.

The movie doesn't come out till late April. They're are probably still working on the effects. It's not an unknown thing to release trailers with some unfinished, unpolished computer effects.
On another note, this movie was written by the guy who did Fifth element. Story should be good. -
An original, futuristic, ass-kicking science fiction film... starring Guy Pearce!
Hadn't heard about this one, but I am so there. -
Pretty funny bits of sarcasm, but all I could think of when watching the interrogation stuff was, "how many times did Guy Pearce watch 'Fight Club' before shooting this scene?"
I have no concept of the plot, and the effects look a little low budget... but I love Pearce in those snide, off-beat, mildly-comedic roles like "Ravenous," so I'll give it a shot. -
The Time Machine.
-
Isn't she play a piece of lumber in Lost? Or was that Taken?
I swear I've seen more lifelike work from Kineau Reeves. -
...as mother fucking Bruce fucking Banner.
Oh, and someone mentioned "Ravenous", love that film! -
Would certainly have been a better choice than Banna.
-
maybe?
Guy peace picks the roles he likes and interest him, this should be good.
he'll forever be mike from neighbours to me! -
*Loved Guy Pearce. He has been in desperate need of a breakout role.*
fanboy71, he was in THE KING'S SPEECH this years oscar winning best picture.
He was also in THE HURT LOCKER, last years oscar winning best picture.
So, he's doing alright. -
That's why it looks like B5 to me- the station point defences look straight out of that show. As, for that matter, do a lot of other shots in that trailer.
But since I loved B5 to bits before JMS ran out of money/story, I'm not seeing the bad here. -
Hope it's better than that, though.
Don't get the lazy effects comments. What's wrong with them? I find it pretty hard to tell considering the poor quality of the video. -

Fifth Element had MUCH BETTER production value - Finished or unfinished FX - This looks very CHEAP.
by mennen
-
I laughed out loud twice. And I mean HARD. And I am still laughing. That was pure brilliance. Quality is low so I cannot tell if the vfx suck, but that Last Boy Scout-ish dialog was tops.
-
I remember back when the Dark Knight Rises was announced and a lot of people were suggesting Pearce as the Riddler. I always thought that would have been perfect (Nolan and Pearce had a history together). Too bad. This trailer was pretty sweet though.
-
And the punch sealed the deal.
Fuck you....he was Asian. That was great.
But the FX look like the last season of Battlestar Galactica -

What a concept, a trailer/teaser with some creativity behind it
by zoefan
-
Real Steel looked cheesy and cheap and I really liked it.
I'm a big fan of Pearce....loved LA Confidential...so I am there for this one. -
Guy Pierce doing sci-fi = WIN!

glad i;m not the only one who got the B5 vibe, i swear those are almost exact shots of the turrets firing

yeah, i blame him for that movie. i love luc besson. he had me at professional. but he put mila in the 5th element and because of my great love of that movie i have continued to watch her movies. until 3d musketeers. that was the last shit dipped straw. she could be a bit part in a sequel to the professional and i still wouldn't be able to watch it, cause i can't watch any new movies with mila in them. i am barely able to watch the 5th element now. one more movie from her and even the 5th element will be ruined.
-
I feel your pain, but I can't forgive you for going to see it. Didn't you see the trailer and think,"hey, this looks like a piece of shit...!"..???
you're ticket purchase has probably ensured a sequel! Kneel before Zod and ask for forgiveness! -
and my wife wanted to watch it since she was reading the book for a literature class. we both walked out feeling like part of our souls had been wounded.
-
I hope your friendship with said actor is over and you are filing for divorce!!!
Jk :o)) -
you know, ones that arent remakes or sequels
-
...cause its a French production. It couldn't have cost more than 30-40 Million USD because you can't get more than that in Europe without additional US financing.
-
No relation there. He had nothing to do with it. That was a German production.
-
man, after the third watching i saw him... great
-
Guy being beaten for information and then a chase with explosions and shooting. Whoopie. been there, saw that. Time and time again. How about something original in terms of story element? Not seeing a hint of it. Fancy visuals aren't enough to get me in a theatre.
-
I'm dissapointed.
-
The rest looked like Dark Knight meets 5th Element.

I love it. Nice to see that they finally got the battlestar galactica flick off the ground, and with such star power too! Awesome. I wonder why they used the sets and costumes from the TV show though?
-
That had to be the pitch at the meeting for this. Also. that last line did make me laugh...maybe we should be hopeful for Lock out?
Yeah, I know..eternal optimist. -
Because Pitt is not near Pearce's class, acting-wise.
