I don't even watch Fringe on Fridays, I wait until HULU. Friday night is NOT for watching TV, it's for hanging out with friends & having some brews, bartending/serving to make extra $, going to see a movie, playing MW3 or BF3 with a bunch of friends, etc....it's not for watching TV. I always felt lonely as shit watching TV on a Friday night.
-
You're right, because every single person in the United States has exactly the same work schedule as you. Therefore, everybody has the weekend to play Modern Warfare and drink beer. Because everybody is exactly like you.

Gold Rush? Hairy Bikers? How about this: Every show of the Pigfucker (formerly "History")Channel and its various affiliates...
by mdk
...sucks CreepyThinManLives' pimple-covered ass! FACT!!
-
it's hard to justify spending anything for satellite with the current line of 80-90% of the channels showing realty tv often. i tend to get most of my history shows from pbs and the bbc now.
-
Of course, I didn't see them till Saturday, but they were damn good none the less. I think it says something about Supernatural that I thought Bobby had been killed in the last frames of last weeks episode. I should have known it wasn't gonna happen, but I didn't. I guess I'm still giving the writers too much credit or something. Fringe was good too, though the Arc is static as hell. Best of the night actually went to Nikita. That doesn't happen often. Nice to see it when it does.
-
We'd watch the X-Files (before it got moved to Sundays), then go out and hit the bars. Of course, now I have children, don't go out to the bars anymore, and usually spend Fridays either working or catching up on various movies I missed on DVD. Sigh. I miss the X-Files. Or perhaps my youth. One or the other.

Honestly, the only show worth watching on Fridays is Supernatural.
by I_Love_LanaLang
I say that while fully understanding that Supernatural has taken a few steps backwards in the quality department this season. That should tell you how unrelentingly awful the other Friday night shows are when they can't even come close to matching Supernatural's less than scintillating quality. Thank me now or thank me later, but you will end up thanking me for this public service. Don't waste your time with the other Friday night shows.

remember when the scifi channel gave you something to watch on friday?

syfy presents tonight: wrestling, sanctuary, and fact or fiction. unless you get syfy uk then you get warehouse 13 and haven. anyone else feeling like fridays is a netflix night?

Also, THE TAKE will make its American debut on Encore tonight...
by TopHat
Its a TV miniseries that stars Tom Hardy and... BRIAN COX! I think it airs at nine.
-
Young Justice is really good, and gets no respect from Cartoon Network or the peeps. Please support the show, even if you have to DVR the show, or Cartoon Network will cancel it, remember Justice League and Justice League Unlimited? They were great too.
-
I don't even know what Grandma Got Run Over is but it doesn't sound very good at all.
-
but it's a decent show. Gold Rush Alaska was a guilty pleasure last season but this season is just dumb. Supernatural is a show that never quite attained greatness and is pretty lackluster these days.
-

Supernatural is still awesome. Season 5 was probably it's peak though.
by Volllllume3

I really wish they would have pursued the Castiel-god storyline more. That said, I'm still loving it.
-
goobye funny man

It's like the West Wing, but only if Emilio's dad kicks ass and Emily Procter would be banging and showing her tits.
-
Kathleen Robertson & Hannah Ware nudity.... for artistic reasons obviously...
-
Heh. I though it might be the sperm donor.
-
Beautiful Maggie Q and that tight little body!
-
Tonight's episode, with Kane's photos, followed nicely the prior week's live burial. Can't wait for next week's finale. This series is amazing. What is it doing on Starz?
-
Did you watch THE TAKE?
-
Dec. 3, 2011, 5:40 a.m. CST
That was fucking gutwrenching. Supernatural still has it.
by Volllllume3
-
Totally Un-frakking-predictable and diabolical shit going down! If you aint watching this, you're dumb! Supernatural has gone over to laughing at itself, end it now before it gets worse. Should have ended when Kripke finished the tale! Nikita was great but won't get another season so they should end it while they still have episodes left.
-
Are you being serious???
-
Dec. 3, 2011, 6:03 a.m. CST
@volllllume3 - 1 half decent episode for the whole silly season doesn't quite make redemption!
by CeejayNightwing
If you ever revisit the show when Kripke was showrunner and see how way more dramatic and serious it was compared to the silly stuff and constant humour we've had since he's left, then you wouldn't be clutching at one straw for defence. They should have quit when they planned instead of running it into crap before it finally gets cancelled. The last two seasons were basically half comedy, half melodrama!

Boss had some Shakespeare meets Machiavelli political intrigue burning strong last night.
by SiouxCitySarsaparilla

Brotherhood, with the media smattering of Season 5 of The Wire.... How they commissioned this and Torchwood, I'll never know but at least they commissioned this !
-
fucking dark. fantastic episode.
-
I've already said that I thought Season 5 was the show's peak. But I still find the show immensely entertaining. I also still think that the tone of the show is depressing and serious. They've saved the world countless of times, hell they even prevented the apocalypse. But they're coming to the terms with the fact that nobody really gives a fuck. And as last night's episode proved there is no one left to help them. No more angels, no more Castiel, no more Lucifer. Death is final. And I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the half decent episode. I thought it was one of the strongest in years. Fantastically written and acted by everyone involved.
-
oh noes :'(
-
Oh yay, it reminds people of The Wire, which was dreadfully dull television. Pure garbage. Now we have Boss which is imitating garbage. Are there no fresh ideas in tv land anymore? Sheesh.

Daaaaayum....Mayor Tom Kane is one cold-hearted Mother....
by Kai_Mah'gra
.....and I absolutely love it!!!!!!! If Kelsey Grammar has done better work in his career, then I wanna know about it - because BOSS is just the pinnacle of his finest work as far as I'm concerned. In one episode his Mayor Kane character went from dead-man-walking and dead-in-the-water to taking down every single one of his political opponents in one fell swoop and using HIS OWN DAUGHTER as a sacrificial pawn. And the fact that his character suffers from a degenerative debilitating neurological disease that's slowly killing him and could at any time turn him into a vegetable, just makes it all the more badass. Boss will never get nominated for an Emmy - too much sex and politics for the puritanical Emmy voters who thought the Wire was too "urban". But I'll be damned if there's a better show out there right now. And yes, that includes Boardwalk and Walking Dead and even Homeland.

Another under-rated character who had a major break-out this episode....
by Kai_Mah'gra
....was Zajack's (the young upstart, good-looking, fucks-everything-that-moves nipplehead who thought he could take on Kane) wife. She's a hot enough actress as it is, but that smack-down she laid on her husband when she got those photos of him screwing Alderman Ross' wife was the stuff of legend showing you just who wore the pants in that family and how a real political wife (who knows that her husband sleeps around - You listening Gloria Cain?) deals with her wondering dick (literally) of a husband. She seemed to have figured out the stupidity of taking on a political institution like Kane long before her dimwitted husband did, and was basically just schooling him on what is what in that scene. I loved it. I hope we see more of her in the future. Also just how cool was it that Kane had his aide Kitty be the one to deliver the dagger to Zajack and Ross just as she was about to tell him that she was pregnant with his baby? Especially after laying that trap for her in the beginning and using her as bait to catch all his enemies. Makes you wonder what else Kane already knows. Does he know about Kitty fucking Zajack (probably) and being pregnant with his kid (maybe not yet, but soon enough I imagine). Does he know about his wife fucking Zajack (not that he would care since theirs is obviously only a marriage of convenience is he is after all fucking her catatonic father's nurse) - both literally and in the metaphorical sense of being in bed with her and her political cronies? It'll be interesting to see how all his other political enemies (especially in the City Council) fall back into line once the dust settles on all this. I haven't loved a character like this Mayor Kane probably since early seasons Stringer Bell or mid seasons' Omar Little.
-
Dec. 3, 2011, 9:49 a.m. CST
And is it just me or do Zajac's wife and Kane's daughter bear and uncanny resemblance?
by Kai_Mah'gra
....that's pretty unusual with 2 actresses or 2 actors in literally the same show. I don't imagine they're related in real life, (too lazy to check on IMDB) but I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't. That scene between her and Zajac was what I imagined it was like between Bill and Hillary right after the Lewinsky scandal broke. Hillary must have laid down the smack-down and told Bill that he wasn't going to fuck up her dreams of being Senator and president when he was done, with all his fucking around.
-
You should kill yourself. Seriously. If you think the Wire was "dreadfully dull garbage," then you are not deserving of life on this earth. Stop stealing our air.
-
Leaving your major political upstart rival on his knees - literally - in your office as you walk out the door....... .....LIKE A BOSS!!!!!!! Also loved the little side-story of the reporter usurping his Editor boss as the price to drop the Kane story - a job he got, ironically in that same Editor's office while he was standing outside. More Kane genius badassery. I know it's going to end badly for Kane - they've pretty much telegraphed that factoid with everything from his disease to the fact that he has enemies piling up like shit to high heaven and sooner or later that pile's gonna come tumbling down...probably on him. But until then he's really riding that city..... ......LIKE A BOSS!!!!!!
-
the only thing i felt that didn't seem right was kitty's pregnancy and her trying to tell Alex. Seems to me, she seems to be the type of woman to pop down to the clinic at lunch and head back to the office. She knows it's going nowhere, she's not that stupid. But yeah general badassery all round
-
the wire was one of the best and most well acted shows on television
-
...was magnificent. It was definitely a return to form. Creatively and execution-wise, last night's episode ranks very highly in the series.
-
youll be missed old man
-
- Are there any boards WITHOUT life-less trolls? SHEESH.
-
Where else do you think Kitty was off to in such a hurry to at the end of the episode? She may have wavered at the beginning when she found out about being pregnant (because deep inside she's feeling lonely) but that visual of Zajac coming back to Kane's office on his knees (where he literally ended up anyway, at the end - on his knees!) brought her back to her senses and snapped her back to reality as she thought to herself... ".....oh shit....I can't keep this kid; that douche-nozzle is going to be the father. That douche-nozzle IS the father and this kid will end up being like him. I gotta get rid of it...like yesterday." I'm still confused as to why alderman Ross didn't explode at his wife when he was sent the photos too.
-
If he was wouldn't they have just let him walk through the door? Or do they just want him to remain as a ghost? It just seemed a little unfinished. But if it was his last episode then it was well done.
-
i think bobby IS dead, and bobby will come back as a ghost and help sam and dean hunt down demons that way. maybe he'll be like a guardian angel to them in some way
-
One of the best Fridays in a long time. Boss was great, Supernatural was great, even Clone Wars was pretty brutal and tense. Not bad for a Friday. Now get Fringe back on FAST!
-
What a goddam fantastic episode. Emmys should rain down from the heavens.
-

Scorchy, I tried to like 'The Wire'. It was unending tediousness.
by I_Love_LanaLang
Oh yes, some people told me that it was a fantastic show. I wanted to believe them. I watched the show. They were incredibly wrong. I have to believe that these misguided people were sucked into the hype due to a small and devoted fanbase pining for a listless and uninteresting niche show. Characters? Cardboard cutouts. Plot? Warmed over tripe seen in a hundred other cop/detective shows. Must See TV? Not a chance. Scorchy, maybe it's time that you take stock of your tv viewing habits. You clearly have no clue about what makes for quality television programming.
-
Everybody can see right through your shit. You think you're going to get some kind of cred for trashing the Wire? Not a chance. You just come off as looking like the Douchebag you are. Why don't you crawl back under that bridge you came from and spare us your tedious drivel. Nobody cares about what show you think meets your over-inflated sense of approval any more than anyone cares about you.
-
do you hate breaking bad, too? your patronizing distste for the wire is totally fucked up. i think you might need to seek proffessional help
-
nobody cares what you say about one of the most brilliant shows in recent televison history
-
I thought she just didn't want to be seen with him as per kanes speech, she survives on the wills of others and she knew alex was done for. she didn't want to be called up and have to witness anything, nor did she want to be in the firing line when that meeting was happening. honestly, didn't see her as rushing out, to terminate her pregnancy. As for supernatural : Bobby has to be a ghost.
-
that is all.
-
I really hope Bobby isn't dead or that he'll at least come back somehow. To me, his character is so much more important than Castiel ever was. I don't know how Dean could possibly recover from everything he's lost. It seems like losing Bobby would be the last straw for him. I get really tired of people complaining about the show since Kripke left, and a lot of them place all of the blame on Sera Gamble. The show wasn't perfect when Kripke ran it, either. He was in charge in the beginning, when shows are usually at their best. He decided to step down after Season 5, but everyone else was still interested in continuing the show. People forget that Gamble has been writing great episodes since Season 1. She wrote "Faith", "Salvation", "Crossroad Blues", "All Hell Breaks Loose" & "Jus in Bello", just to name a few. I think she's doing a fine job as showrunner. I'm still completely invested in the show and it's still great. I wonder if people would be complaining this much if they had no idea that Kripke stepped down.
-
his wikia page even lists him as deceased
-
...or appears as a 'friendly ghost' then I'll be pretty upset at how my emotions were played with in what was one fo the best episodes of this season. Like "Buffy" in it's last seasons, this series is having it's ups and downs (and everyone blamed Marti Noxon, rightfully, for season 6 sucking), but last epsode proved this show can still hit one out of the park. God bless Bobby Singer!
-
...you miserable troll.
-
Dec. 4, 2011, 11:46 p.m. CST
Kai_mah'gra, pardon me for not joining 'The Wire' bandwagon.
by I_Love_LanaLang
I apologize if your feelings were hurt simply because I noticed how unoriginal and boring one of your favorite shows turned out to be. You Miltons are always outraged when someone doesn't bow down at the feet of whatever niche garbage-of-the-moment show you happen to be hyperventilating over. I suppose you're one of those tards who also thought Firefly and Serenity were masterpieces. In reality, they were just more of the hackneyed junk that sends you Miltons into paroxysms of mindless wanking. Smarten up!
-
Dec. 4, 2011, 11:53 p.m. CST
Jaredp, is your entire self-worth invested in others liking the same claptrap as you?
by I_Love_LanaLang
It appears so. Some Advice: go out and meet some real people who don't sequester themselves in the basement every day watching crappy tv shows. You might be surprised to learn that there are other people who don't agree on everything that you Miltons wank over. As for Breaking Bad, the best that can be said about it is that it's a very uneven show.
-
UNEVEN? are you fucking serious, you dimwitted douchebag troll? your entire existence is taking up much needed space, MOTHER FUCKER. do the world a favor and jump off a bridge, fucking useless tool
-
do you hate them to, lanalang?
-
Here's your problem. Truly great trolling doesn't smack of as much effort as your posts do. You are trying WAY too hard. I recommend registering under a new name and trying again with new tactics. Maybe pretend you work in the industry and have secret info, perhaps?
-
However, it's just YOUR opinion. You're clearly emotionally invested in your favorite tv programming, but it's also and obviously damaged your objectivity. However, I like the vim and vigor with which you defend your precious niche shows! As for Sons of Anarchy & Boardwalk Empire, it almost goes without saying that both of them are even MORE uneven than Breaking Bad. Make of it what you will.
-
Dec. 6, 2011, 11:38 p.m. CST
Shodan6672, I would never resort to trolling. Never.
by I_Love_LanaLang
I despise trollers and I think they're a plague on fine community oriented sites like AICN. That you assume I'm trolling leads me to believe that you don't agree with some of my remarks concerning tv programming. Fair enough, but I'd pefer that you explain where you think I was going wrong instead of throwing out unfounded accusations. Do you understand?
