Houston! See KILL BILL Volumes 1 And 2 This Sunday! And I Have Tickets To Give Away!

Nordling here.
No, sadly, it's not THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR, but it's the next best thing - both KILL BILL films, spliced together, back to back, this sunday at the Alamo Drafthouse West Oaks. No digital presentation either - both films are 35mm prints, and if my friend Robert is right, they'll be spliced together so you can enjoy the film in one sitting! We'll have games, giveaways, and we're also announcing a new film series for 2012, and I know some of the movies coming for that series. It's going to be awesome.
I have six tickets to give away for lucky Houston attendees! Just send me an email to aicnhoustonscreenings@gmail.com with the header I'M WIGGLING MY BIG TOE AT THE WEST OAKS! with the name of you and 1 guest. Or you can go by yourself. The first emails are winners. If you'd rather not take your chances, tickets are available through the Drafthouse website here.
I love KILL BILL - it's so much movie jammed into thouse 3+ hours it's almost impossible to take. But you'll be able to experience it in 35mm glory this Sunday starting at 6:00 PM! Hope you make it there! Nordling, out.

I'm convinced now that this long-rumored re-edit of the two films will go the way of the Vega Bros movie and KB Vol 3. An interesting idea that, after thinking it over, QT decided not to actually do.
-
The Whole Bloody Affair has already screened over a 2 1/2 week period in Los Angeles. It exists.

They're on TNT or AMC once a month. And they aren't that great to begin with.
by Uncle Pooky
-
of course they're not great.

I said "to begin with". As in, they blew my b-hole in the theater.

with The little girl who played Vivica Fox's daughter?

Embarrassed to admit I don't own either of these movies...
by Joaquin_Ondamoon
I keep waiting for 'The Whole Bloody Affair'. Guess that's not happening now. Well, at least now Mrs. Ondamoon will know what to get me for Christmas....
-
I love how vol. 1 ends. Bill's revelation then Yhe music and credits kick in. It's perfect.
-
Instead of the credits it could just be an intermission. But what's the point then?
-
It was the definitive way to see it for me. Watching the originals back to back though you get the same experience. You realize how ambitious the thing is, really amazing what Quentin did, if you don't think these movies are cool as hell I don't really know what you're doing on a site like this.
-
As a huge fan of the ending to vol 1, I gotta say after seeing TWBA earlier this year in LA, the edit without it is far superior and makes the end of vol. 2 much less cute; it's heart-wrenching instead.
-
The first one is beautifully shot and has excellent cinematography. The second one is filled with filler and tedious dialog, something Tarantino should be good at.
-
Everytime I hear one of you pseudo-hipster blowhards proclaim how much Kill Bill "sucks" or "Tarantino Sucks" I'm just baffled how on earth you have ever liked anything enough to even be interested in a movie focused website.... Seriously, unless you are some pretentious tea sipper who only thinks Merchant/Ivory , David Lean and Richard Attembourough films have ever been worthy of your gaze. (nothing against some of these filmmakers, lawrence of Arabia, Ghandi, Bridge on the River Kwai are all faves) how could you love movies (or have even a base understanding of them) and hate Kill Bill? (especially when the standard review's are such high minded thoughts as "he sucks" or "his dialogue is stupid"). really? What do you think movies should be? Costume dramas and Taxi Driver? I want to see movies for different reasons, sometimes to be thrilled, sometimes to be taken off into a new world, sometimes cuz I'm in the mood for SPLOSIONS, sometimes because I want to be simply entertained and sometimes because I want to learn something new about myself or the world around me via the cinema. I think Tarantino accomplishes most of all of the above on several of his films and frankly I can't understand how any supposed Film Buff couldn't agree to at least a partial extent. Kill Bill was a fine achievement in film making.
-
Is the end scene from vol. 1 with Bill cut? And is everything in the same sequence?
-

I don't even want the two volumes edited together anymore
by Nasty In The Pasty
They play perfectly as two seperate movies. All I want is the two existing cuts put on Blu-Ray with an assload of extra features and the House Of Blue Leaves battle presented in color as an additional scene. Is that too much to ask? Grindhouse bombed, and it got a shitload of extra features, yet both volumes of Kill Bill got virtually nothing. What the hell...?
-
These movies fucking rock, both have their own distinct style
-
and so does Kill Bill. Kill Bill is horrible. Mean. Stupid...Kill "Beel" is a vacuous taco fart of a film, with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, an exercise in...wait... holy fuck! I love this movie. There isn't a moment in it I don't love to watch again and again. I'd lovingly tongue bathe Uma Thurman's asshole daily if given half the chance. She's a classy lady with big feet, and I like that.

Don't own the DVD's. Ugh. Probably will never own them.

LOL! I got 20 seconds into her opening monologue and shut it off
by LargoJr
... It just sounded SO self-indulgent and badly acted that my whole body started screaming 'Danger Will Robinson, DANGER!" I think QT is one of the more overhyped and overrated actors in the business, but as long as he gets work.. good for him. But I personally think if a movie starts out bad, and its a QT film, it's only going to get worse. I'm not a movie watcher who likes to 'turn his brain off', and I hate the concept of 'popcorn muncher'. If you have to turn into livestock to enjoy a film, you're missing the fucking point.
-
I meant QT is one of the most overhyped DIRECTORS... as an actor he just sucks.. but that's nothing new
-
So the appearance of the daughter at the end of vol. 2 is also the reveal to the audience that she's alive? Interesting.
-
special features last night, and there's a documentary that has Harry on it. It was preaty annoying to hear him say "REZ" Dogs about 50 times. I wonder does he call Jackie Brown, Jack Bro or Pulp Fiction, Pul Fict.
-
Wow. I rarely visit this site anymore and seldom do I even post, however, your post was so spot on that I felt compelled to comment. Well said. Thank you. Broad tastes and appreciation are what makes one a buff and/or connoisseur.

You'd be better off going to the Rebecca St James concert!
by Snake Foreskin
In The Woodlands. Sunday at 6 PM. Featuring messages of Purity and Worship. Why watch Uma Thurman slice her foes to shreds when you can listen to RSJ talk about the importance of abstinence until marriage? Seems to me that if the Bride hadn't been screwing Bill before she got married, none of her heartache would ever have happened. Then again, she wouldn't have had the kid that she rescues in the second part of this disappointing movie.
-
You can buy both movies packed together for like 10 bucks. Buy it already. Damn.
-
BTW IMO Volume 1 is the best. CORRECTIMUNDO!
-
For a movie that was supposed to be one film and sliced in half by the studio with filler added, a la Guns n Roses "Use Your Illusion", they sure are making a big fucking deal about splicing the two together.

Re: your moms box .. 20 seconds of lifeless monotone muttering...
by LargoJr
... is my quota for a movie. If a movie starts out completely devoid of anything even RESEMBLING acting, or inflection/emotion... but rather sounds like someone is reading off the back of a bubblegum wrapper while taking a crap... well, color me gone.
-
Her monologue is being held at a register wrong for her voice, so it sounds terribly unreal & forced, like she might start coughing and ask for another take any second
-
Ok Quentin, let's spend half a fucking movie developing O-Ren, a character who isn't even a character, just one of five lackies who serves no purpose in the overall story...Check this guy's review it's great: http://confusedmatthew.com/Kill-Bill.php
-
anyone that calls NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN a 'waste of time' and 'not a film' is absolutely someone you can trust. Oh....did I say 'someone you can trust'? I meant to say 'a fucking idiot'. I don't normally get all hyperbolic and call folks out around here....but that's a goddam JOKE.
