That's Gareth Evans' THE RAID, which opened to a huge splash at the Toronto International Film Festival, winning the Midnight Madness award. Since then people have been clamoring to see it, as have I - that trailer is tons of awesome. And now it's looking like we're getting to see it after all - Sony Pictures Classics has bought the release rights for the domestic U.S., according to Deadline.
The film will be released theatrically this coming Spring, and word is that Evans is working on another film featuring many of the same characters, although I'm not sure if it's a sequel or remake. Screen Gems is working on a remake as well, having gotten the rights, but I'm glad we're getting the original out there to see. This spring, huh? Hope I can wait that long.
