The MIB 3 Teaser Poster Is...Cool...Kinda...In A Headachy Sorta Way...
Merrick here...
Collider has a snapshot of an MIB 3 teaser poster one of their readers spotted in theaters over the weekend. I say several movies this weekend and never once spotted this poster - so I thought it might feasibly be of interest.
I guess appreciate what this poster is trying to do, as I've always been a big one for going cross-eyed and vomitous migraines. Perhaps not the optimal first impression for a project., but at least it's memorable.
What do you think?

This is how the franchise tries to regain legitimacy? AWWW HELL NAW!!!!
by ZoeFan
I ain't buyin' it.
-
fuck this shit.
-
And show these kids how it's done. This poster makes me want to punch someone, not see the movie.
-
And why is the 3 tiny? Is this movie cubed?
-
...the only thing dumber than the poster?
-
I was thinking how MIB3 could kick ass or totally suck. Man, did the second one ever SUCK BALLS!

Cool, but why is Gene Simmons on the poster?
by The Reluctant Austinite
-
...you can see Brian Cox.
-
that I enjoyed watching in theaters (kind of a funny breezy effects laden star vehicle) that I have had no interest in watching since that July day back in 1997.
-
It had a pre-heavily plastic surgery Lara Flynn Boyle in it.
-
Or maybe a Hitch prequel.
-
RIP: Ken Russell (84) who died today. A pretentious, nameless, f*ckwit at the BBC has just described his film making skills as 'self indulgent' and 'undisciplined'. Maybe that's because he was F*CKING ORIGINAL. He didn't make films for 'perceived' moronic teenagers, or to whore toy-lines, or please critics. I'm incandescent with rage. Why in Britain do we continuously piss on real talent and venerate mediocrity like Simon Cowell and his personal cash cow; The X-Factor?

MIB2 was atrocious.Saw it once in the theater and never again.

not even the ultra hot villainess could save that pile of shit for a movie.

Wow! Say what you will about Will Smith, he is one of the biggest box office stars on the planet, and they decide

but not much else.

is one Will Smith movie that I'd watch a sequel to. Probably the best action film he did.
-
Geez AICN, can't you just admit it sucks, instead of being all passive aggressive about it?
-
Lamer than Part 2..

he didn't disappear..he just went home..

At least the lenticular poster for part 2 was kinda cool - changing from an empty chair to Tommy Lee Jones to Will Smith. This is just...kinda stupid. And considering how expensive they are to make, you won't be seeing very many of these out and about- Sony usually limits these to under 500. Still pretty lame...
-
it's carlos
-
...he'd still be asked to design something like the avove poster. Believe it or not, commercial artists get direction from higher up. Since no execs want Struzan's style of poster, he retired. The guy who did that poster could be a fantastic artist but was just following directions.
-
you'll see a schooner.
-
How original.
-
well said.
-
Remember he's playing the younger Agent K
-
So if you go to the link in the poster in takes you to a 14 year old's Facebook Page. On that page is a link to the official MiB website which in turn has a link to the official FB page which is NOT the 14 year old FB page. Whew. So I have my doubts about this poster being official.
-
Well, due to wishful thinking probably.
-
'Cause he's sure as hell on the poster.

Seems like it at any rate.

@ditko - which Nolan movie had a poster even remotely that lame?
by Lamerz
Maybe studio movies that don't suck get the marketing A-Team and get some quality posters designed. Could be an indication of how this project is going...
-
It says right above somebody snapped a picture of it hanging in a theater. Either way it sucks but what did you expect? This is the team that thought Wild Wild West would kill and spawn multiple sequels. MIB was a combination of a premise that played into the existing X Files fueled alien-mania, good timing because that weekend had nothing else on, and Will Smith when he was relevant. I will most likely never in my life see this.

w_r_p_j....maybe you are. But it really should have been a one-and-done
by openthepodbaydoorshal
It was basically Ghostbusters crossed with X Files, and they should have stopped after the first. But you had to enjoy the chemistry between Smith and Tommy Lee...no?
-
the fish out of water gist that he did in the original. or maybe have an Alien invasion happening on Earth in the form of a WW3 or something.Maybe have Hitler as an alien who returns on earth to finish the Holocaust because the Jews are the chosen one not from God,but actually from some advanced alien race which chose them instead of the alien Hitler's race.Yeah i know stupid but just imagine the jewish jokes that they could use.

And don't forget the bit about not evoking anything whatsoever that would pleasantly remind people how much they enjoyed the first two films (or first film, as the case may be). More than anything, this poster would make me wonder if all the stars were not being carried over to the new film, so they had to go with something generic.

first movie was pretty good. the second was utter shite!

The original was an enjoyable enough action-comedy-SF soufflé. But it did everything it had to do. No crying need for a 2nd one, much less a 3rd. Outside of fat paychecks, that is.

Barry Sonnenfeld: from great cinematographer to mediocre filmmaker.

he did mannaged to direct some good movies, the ADAMS FAMILY, MIB and GET SHORTY movies. but i have to ask, they happened by accident or what? because everything he did afterwards is pure tripe.

I just rewatched both movies recently...
by the dolphins are in the jacuzzi
and I may be the only one with this opinion, but I actually think the second movie has held up better than the first. Granted, several aspects of the movie seemed to be written by committee (female villain - check; love interest - check; more talking pug - check), but as cinema (if you want to call it that), it works better nearly a decade later than MIB1. For one, the makeup and effects in the first movie were pretty much crap by comparison. Secondly, the pacing in the first movie was sluggish (the final chase scene, in particular, was interminable). And finally, Vincent D'Onofrio was (at least, in my opinion) one of the most irritating movie villains ever - nothing but one-note slapstick as far as I'm concerned (although I've never liked D'Onofrio anyway, so I could be biased). But the second movie improved on all of the problems in the first movie by leaps and bounds. Was it formulaic? Of course. This is a Hollywood blockbuster franchise, not a work of art. If that's what you want, watch a Peter Jackson or Guillermo Del Toro movie. But if you want a good, cheesy, over-the-top popcorn movie, you could do worse. I now await the flames.
-
Maybe MIB3 will clear this up...
-
That's all I can think of, when I hear or see "Will Smith" anywhere.
-
...is making me dizzy. Good thing it's not worthy looking at.
-
I hear he's replacing Will Smith's character.
-
I too found the second film to have some redeeming qualities, all except for one. It totally Fucks over the first movie. Makes it pointless. I hope this movie makes the second one a simulation or some shit but I guess it won't. I honestly don't know why they're making it. I hope it's all sorts of badass. Though lawd knows kids today don't care about this as much as they do justin fucking bieber. Oh you know what? Fuck everything I said. I love all MIB movies. At least they were made in less faggy times.
-
Because she's a Galactic M.I.L.F. And she has a sexy voice and a dirty laugh and I spent much of my 1990's adolescence touching myself while thinking about LINDA FIORENTINO.
-
Will most likely hate the third. They lost their chance when they dumped Linda Fiorentino. She was awesome.

OMFG!!! MIB 3!!!! It will be so awesome. Better than Prometheus. Better than The Hobbit!
by lv_426
MIB 3D hopefully, because everything is better in 3D. I've started wearing 3D glasses to work and when I go out and about. I just can't get enough 3D. How can they top the sheer brilliance of MIB and MIB 2 though? Those were masterpieces.

Still not sure about this one especially now that TLJ has been reduced to a cameo....
by dr_buggerlugs
Jones is the MVP of this franchise regardless of Smith's bankability, so seeing him elbowed out the way to make this one (apparently) a Fresh Prince vehicle has dampened what little enthusiasm I had for this. Fingers crossed that Brolin is going to bring the deadpan comedy pain and waltz the film away from Smith's ego.

" studios are drumming up awareness for their summer 2013 titles by unveiling promotional material at your local cineplex." That's great, but wouldn't they want to drum up awareness for their summer 2012 movies? Zing!

Get high before watching it, I guarantee you will like it better. If you don't wanna watch it, then just get high, it's a win win.
-
But still have not said why. Please enlighten us.

-
the stupid story? the unfunny humour? the misguided tone? the completly unmemorable story? the dourness of the acting? i can recall full scenes from the original, the sequel all i can remember is some dumb shit that made no sense whatsoever. mind you, MIB2 was a movie i wanted to like, for the sake of the first movie. the first movie gave me such good will. i made a real effort to like it. but the movie defeated by best efforts. it's a bad, useless movie. things should had stayed with the first movie and stoped there. in fact, as far i'm concerned, only the first movie exists.
