Is "All-American Muslim" the name of Damien Lewis's character on Homeland?

    by SiouxCitySarsaparilla

Clare Danes plays "Slutty Spy-Polar Chick". As this is from the writers of 24, in the series finale she'll probably go off her meds and assassinate him, at the presidential inauguration, after finally realising she's become the mole.

  • Nov. 27, 2011, 5:19 a.m. CST

    Claire Danes

    by Extr3m1st

HOTNESS.... Nice twist at the end of the last episode, can't wait to see where the story goes from this point on. They did a nice job with this series.

  • Nov. 27, 2011, 10 a.m. CST

I've really enjoyed Homeland thus far, but

    by Rob0729

I am worried that they are going to move towards "24"'s ludicrous plotlines. 24 was never really grounded in reality and it was easy for the viewers to suspend disbelief. But Homeland is based in a more real world. Some of the recent plot twists have started to border on the 24 realm. I am hoping that the show runner and writers show some restraint the rest of the way and don't go too far.

Dexter - Not a Spoiler, Only a Theory

    by The Bear

I think Tom Hank's boy is doing all the killing. He killed Professor Olmos back when the Professor disappeared, and now the Professor we see it actually the personification of Tom Hank's boy's "dark passenger." That's why the Professor keeps showing up at the most opportune moments -- he's not really there, only in the kid's mind. I'm a genius, right? Right? Unless everyone else had this theory weeks ago, in which case I'm a little slow and I need to go change my diapers.

    Homeland - Had a Problem

    by The Bear

I was enjoying Homeland a lot until the episode where the big guys let POW Lewis in to see his former guard. What?! What professional interrogators are going to let this guy see their prisoner before they've gotten useful information out of him? What professional interrogators are going to let ANYONE in there without be thoroughly searched first? What professional interrogator doesn't know that having a POW and his former guard in the same room could, um, I don't know, turn out badly?! Bah! It lost realism during that episode.

I watch this every week and it's the same plot over and over and over and over and over... I'd stop watching, but I don't know how to change the channnel.

    Homeland Ratings

    by Santien

It's a shame more people aren't watching Homeland - it's one of the better shows on right now. It's joke to drama ratio is near 0, unlike quirky shows like Grey's Anatomy; silly one minute, serious the next!

  • Nov. 27, 2011, 3:18 p.m. CST

Homeland is excellent. Can it survive?

    by rakesh patel

I mean it's at the bottom of the ratings. Does that mean its due for the chop?

  • Nov. 27, 2011, 3:41 p.m. CST

    Homeland Ratings

    by Gene Cowan

Keep in mind that this show supposedly had the biggest audience for a first-time Showtime show (say that ten times fast). I think the pretty consistent 0.4 might actually be pretty decent, since it's subscription-only channel. In my opinion, it's about twice as good as Dexter (and that's not a diss on Dexter, I love it too) ... so hopefully at point Homeland will start to match Dexter's 1.0.

  • Nov. 27, 2011, 3:43 p.m. CST

Also, S2 was already ordered awhile ago, if I'm not mistaken.

    by Gene Cowan

Same with BOSS, over on Starz. Both excellent shows, so I'm glad we'll see them survive at least another year.

  • Nov. 27, 2011, 3:44 p.m. CST

Also, Homeland needs a dedicated talkback.

    by Gene Cowan

As many have mentioned before, it's hard to talk about 3-5 shows in the same talkback. Give us a HOMELAND talkback. Puh-leease :)

  • Nov. 27, 2011, 3:45 p.m. CST

    by dukeroberts

Yep, Gene. You're right. It has been ordered for a second season pick up.

    Claire Danes

    by celebritydave

Every week I watch for signs of her "hotness". I aint seeing it. Tall, blonde, too skinny, big blob nose. She is terrible in this. I get she is playing someone slightly unstable. but the range of emotions she goes through every 30 seconds puts me off. She is garbage.

    Another crappy Simpsons tonight

    by OutsideChance

Burns promoted Homer. Again. I stopped watching midway through. Again.

  • Nov. 27, 2011, 9:10 p.m. CST

    by Hipshot

I'm east coast time, and don't want to give anything away, but yep, Olmos was just in Hanks' head. And afterwards, the show creators were talking as if this was a major, mind-blowing reveal. If they were betting their season on that...they've blown it, and the season sucks. I hope, really hope they have more. If they shot their wad tehre, that's pretty sad. You know, you can get away with that in a 2-hour movie. But for 10 weeks? With people able to talk, compare notes, and blog about it? It was a BAD choice on their part, if they expected that to be a total surprise. I'm disappointed.

  • Nov. 27, 2011, 10:02 p.m. CST

    Dexter **SPOILERS**

    by jim

I wonder if I hadn't already read it, would I have been surprised by last night's revelation. I doubt it. Sure, 3 weeks ago when they were being clever with missing table settings. However, after the past 2 weeks with Geller showing up at the sister's house or school it seemed odd. Seemed too coincidental and he didn't seem to have much trouble being out in public, especially for a guy the police are looking for and whose picture is all over the papers. Became even more strained last week with him ducking out of sight just as Dexter turns around, only to have Dexter run upstairs to almost fall through the rotten floor boards to find Geller gone. What, did he think the 70 year old professor squeezed through the window and jumped 3 stories to run away? It was at that point that I felt he had to be imaginary because it was absolutely no longer plausible to me that he could be real. This week I can only assume that when Dexter found the trapdoor he believed there were other ways into whatever was down there and that's how Geller accessed that room. Otherwise, how did he think Geller could close the trapdoor from the other side and slide the table back over it?

    Dexter Misfire SPOILERS

    by Rob0729

The writers of Dexter really misfired on the whole Gellar thing. It was obvious he was dead and in Colin Hank's head for most of the season. The problem is the character that isn't really there has become a cliche ever since it was done in The Sixth Sense and Beautiful Mind. The viewers are now trained to spot such a twist. They shouldn't have dragged this out for most of the season like they did. They could have kept Dexter and the police in the dark, but it was a bit insulting to the audience who figured it out weeks ago. I have actually enjoyed this season overall, but count me as someone who is glad they ended the whole "We are pretending Gellar is alive" plotline.

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 11:42 a.m. CST

3 predictable reveals in one special episode of Dexter

    by FrodoFraggins

What a pile of shit this season has been. I can't believe it's even worse than season 5. It's really heartbreaking as this show used to be amazing.

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 12:29 p.m. CST

    frodofraggins SPOILERS

    by Rob0729

I saw the Gellar thing and the Chief being the one in the room with the hooker a mile away, but I guess I didn't see Masuka's assistant being the one who bought the Ice Truck Killer's hand coming. Maybe I should have, but that one seemed to be a bit of a surprise. In fact, it is the only twist that interests me going forward. Gellar's reveal is pretty much irrelevant because it doesn't change much. The hooker subplot is just stupid. But I wonder if the geeky assistant is onto Dexter (hence why he is such a groupie) and only dating Little Batista to get close to Dexter. That could end up being the most interesting part of the season if done well and could the catalyst to Deb figuring out Dexter's dark passenger (which they are obviously leading to with her therapy and her being upset that Dexter doesn't share).

  • dexter's double jumped the shark in one season.

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 2:12 p.m. CST

    agreed frodofraggins

    by VoiceOfSaruman

Sad but true. And sadly the idea that the lab geek is only dating Batista's sister to get close to Dexter is absurd unless the geek is gay, since Batista's hot sister is the only thing keeping watching at this point. He should be paying her by the hour to spend time with him. The whole show is silly now. Amazing how they both utterly misused a good actor (Olmos) and cast such a weak actor (Hanks.)

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 2:27 p.m. CST

    Agree with the Dexter comments

    by sunwukong86

The Gellar thing was a mistake, and by now the whole "its only in his head" thing has been done so many times. Shutter Island for example. What Im wondering is how long Gellar's been dead. And is anyone really sick of Laguerita? She needs to go.

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 3:20 p.m. CST

worst season of DEXTER yet. Thank God for HOMELAND

    by la_sith

Hilarious that you even have to write "spoiler" for Dexter's "worst kept secret". I haven't watched the show in three weeks but knew after maybe the second episode that the Olmos was [SPOILER] a hilariously bad hallucination by Colin "I always look like I'm smelling farts" Hanks. This is the worst season of Dexter by far, and I think I'm done watching it. There is no intrigue, no suspense, and the majority of characters are morons. Very sad, because it used to be one of the best shows going. Took a dive last year, but I never anticipated it getting THIS fucking awful.

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 7:38 p.m. CST

It makes sense. His dad talked to a volleyball.

    by MrEkoLetMeLive

Now I'm not sure who's dumber: the cops who work with Dexter and don't realize he's a serial killer, or Dexter who didn't realize that Colin Hanks was pulling a Tyler Durden.

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 8 p.m. CST

    Regarding the lab geek

    by FrodoFraggins

I think it was predictable that he had ulterior motives that would be revealed, not necessarily that he had the hand. If I had to guess, they are setting him up to be trouble for Dexter next season. It's too bad the writers forgot about Quinns knowledge of Dexter.

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 8:01 p.m. CST

    Batista's hot sister

    by rakesh patel

is going to die. mark my words. the way they've shoehorned her in, she's serial killer bait! you know Batista was going back the that house to tap that old gal after quinn had dealt with it.

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 8:02 p.m. CST

The biggest problem with Dexter is that the writers made him STUPID

    by FrodoFraggins

I'm not saying he should have figured out the "twist" with Gellar. But he's been a complete moron this season.

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 8:26 p.m. CST

Why did Olmos take this part?

    by proevad

After seeing what Smits and Lithgow were allowed to do--I'm just really surprised that he agreed to play this one dimensional "person". Bad part. Cheesy part. Oy vey--hate it when good actors do shit like this. Maybe he's fucking someone who works on the show.

  • Nov. 28, 2011, 9:19 p.m. CST

BS on everyone saying they knew the Dexter twists since week 1

    by happybunni

I don't think anyone ever even posted a theory that Olmos wasn't real until week 4 or 5. So you all knew what the twists were all along and decided not to talk about it? BS. But yes the Olmos thing was dragged out way too long.

  • It was the week 1 thread.

Put a Fork in Dexter, It Fucking Sucks

    by _Maltheus_

Pretty much everyone suspected that Olmos wasn't real since episode 1, and it was a confirmed done deal ever since that lunch he had with Hanks. The only people capable of enjoying this show anymore are the ones stupid enough to think Gellar was ever real. And no, it's not just because it's been done so many times before, but because he never once acted like a real person. They hammered the whole "he's not really there" point so hard, that there was a time I was assuming that the "twist" would be that he was (which actually would have been even lamer). As for the final scene, I'm gonna go out on a crazy limb and say that the lab geek is Dexter's nephew (not really sure on his age, but assuming early 20s). His obsession with Dexter is creepy, just like his dad Brian. And now he got his dad's prized possession back. Is it stupid? Hell yes. Is this show now that stupid? Hell yes to that too. Last season for me, unless I hear that this new showrunner gets replaced.

  • Nov. 29, 2011, 3:03 p.m. CST

For all the problems this season, I still kinda like Dexter

    by Rob0729

This past episode definitely has a Jump the Shark feel to it, but I have actually liked some aspects of this season. I think the Deb as LT has worked. I liked a lot of the Brother Sam stuff. I think the defining moment of this show of whether it will totally go to crap or is salvagable is how they handle Deb finding out her brother is a serial killer. They are really moving towards that end (BOOK SPOILER she found out in the books and even had Dexter kill the killer of her boyfriend). If they don't have her find out now that they are really building towards it, the show will lose whatever shread of credibility it has left. Deb cannot be that stupid.

  • Nov. 29, 2011, 3:04 p.m. CST

    by Rob0729

I think you are off on the geek being Brian's son. That would be too much of a coincidence. He might be onto Dexter's secret, but I think he may be a collector geek who will be more of a groupie fan than family member.

  • Nov. 29, 2011, 3:27 p.m. CST

    by _Maltheus_

No doubt, it's too much of a coincidence (and cheesy) to make the lab geek Brian's son, but that's just why I feel its possible. Whoever they have now writing the show is that bad. I suppose he could just be a groupie, but that's what the previous intern was, so why do it again? I dunno, it's all just a dumb hunch. One thing that did have me confused is what kind of intern can afford digs like that? I get that he releases software on the side, but if he's successful with that, then why do the whole forensics thing? Did they ever definitely explain the whole software thing (other than he's working on a game)?

    by JaredP

to think they actually renewed it for two more seasons. stop trying to humanize dexter. have dexter start killing cops or something, maybe he can start with capt. matthews or laguerta

  • Dec. 1, 2011, 8:59 p.m. CST

    by JaredP

these shows don't shy away from showing us the dark side of there protagonists. maybe the writers of dexter should start taking there cue from them. look at jax on SOA hes a guy who loves his family, but still shows his darkness underneath the mask

  • Don't forget also that Dexter himself is suppose to be much younger on the show than Michael C Hall is in real life.
