HBO says of “Battle of the Century”:
Arriving in Belfast, Nucky and Owen meet with IRA leaders with a barter proposition. Meanwhile, in Atlantic City, Jimmy and his partners broker a deal with George Remus (Glenn Fleshler) for his “medicinal” alcohol before taking a break to see/hear the Dempsey fight. Margaret frets when Emily’s (Josie and Lucy Gallina) illness takes a turn for the worse; Dunn Purnsley (Erik LaRay Harvey) orchestrates a worker’s strike at the Ritz; Waxey Gordon (Nick Sandow) takes action against Manny Horvitz (William Forsythe) in Philadelphia; Randolph and Clifford Lathrop (Curt Bouril) grill Halloran about Nucky’s past. Written by Steve Kornacki; directed by Brad Anderson.
I was scratching my head regarding Jimmy’s boastful, belligerent behavior last week. He seemed to lose about half his IQ points. Could he and Nucky be secretly conspiring? This week brings a much better installment, which made me love Margaret again. Next week’s is even better. More in invisotext. Nelson and Eli are named-checked but sit out this week, as does Darmody’s wife and mother, Lucy, Eddie, Rothstein and The Commodore. The episode begins with Nucky’s arrival in Belfast. The scene with George Remus occurs very early. Harrow and Darmody have an interesting conversation. I love the scenes with Manny Horvitz and Esther Randolph this week; Julianne Nicholson finally gets a little naked!
AMC says of “Secrets”:
Secrets are told and secrets are revealed. Hershel refuses to acknowledge the world’s new reality. Andrea comes out of her shell. Everyone is becoming more and more aware that “everything is food for something.
So now we really know why the old veterinarian doesn’t like strangers lurking about. This week’s “Walking Dead” has a lot more Dale in it than usual. More in invisotext. Little Sophia remains unfound this week. And no one leaves the farm by episode’s end. Next Sunday brings the last episode until Feb. 12, so we’ll see if that changes.
