PAN AM &
MAN UP!!!
ABC is pulling “Pan Am” and “Man Up!” at midseason, replacing them with “GCB” (based on Kim Gatlin’s 2008 novel “Good Christian Bitches”) and “Work It” (from latter-day “Friends” writers Andrew Reich and Ted Cohen).
Also absent on ABC’s midseason schedule is “Cougar Town,” which the network indicated last May would likely take over the “Dancing With The Stars” slot during the reality show’s midseason hiatus. Instead the supernatural faux-documentary “The River” will fill.
Along with the long-ago cancelled “Charlie’s Angels,” “Man Up!” and “Pan Am” constitute ABC’s lowest-rated scripted series:

Man Up is Pan Am spelled backwards. Did the TV executives come up with these shows while smoking weed?

It's about a quirky middle-aged woman with tons of great friends but no love life who decides to have a relationship with her iPhone.

BREAKING BAD is DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES with most letters replaced by different ones and a few added.

"Star Wars" is "War of the Rats" with both words flipped and one flipped backwards and two extra words minus one letter

Sorry, could not resist

but the show wasn't that great. I'm more interested to know what's going on behind the scenes at Alcatraz and Awake. Two of the more promising midseason entries have had issues. Alcatraz has changed showrunners, and trouble was alluded to on the Awake set.

Hopefully this will scare off the other networks from doing another Mad Men ripoff

Its very hard sometimes to flick through channels and avoid these shows. Its like trying to not step in dog doo when its everywhere.
-
Maybe that's what ABC wanted, and when they realized they weren't getting it, they pulled the plug. I found Pan Am has a lot more in common with American Dreams. Both are somewhat homogenized depictions of the 1960s where everything is a bit too crisp and clean. Both series could exist in the same universe - a portrayal of the 1960s that is more sentimental than grittily realistic.
-
...cause they both took place in the same decade. Ergo, that makes the show that came out after automatically a ripoff of the prior one even if the two shows have nothing else in common. Also, MASH and Happy Days are the same show cause they both took place in the 50's. Seriously though, I'm sorry to see Pan Am go. While I understand that it wasn't for everyone, it was at least DIFFERENT than any other show unlike the endless stream of derivative procedural shows and reality shows we're being fed. And while people bitched about the spy story line because they hated the idea of it being like Mad Man while simultaneously hating any aspects that made it different from Mad Men, I thought that allowed the show to be a little more unpredictable. You really didn't know where the show was going to go and so I'm disappointed that we'll never find out. I guess this means Castle is the only ABC show I've got left. Good work, ABC. You're losing my viewership.
-
Shit. I'll say it. Been DVR ing Man Up and I find it to be entertaining and enjoyable... Am I really the only one?

Maybe Dan Fogler can get that Balls of Fury sequel going now that he is available again.

You spit in the face of God after he gave you a gift, all because you are an anorexic fuck that wants to make Callista Flockhart look like Rosie O'Donnell.

She kind of looks like her body below the neck is being squeezed tighter by some invisible, omnipotent force, causing her head and eyes to swell in disproportion to the beneath. Regardless, she is still hot and I would still love to tap that ass.

We hardly knew ye. ABC still offers Castle, Suburgatory, Modern Family and Happy Endings. Fun stuff.
-
What do they have in common? They are shows about men on a women's network like ABC. ABC has catered exclusively to female viewers to the point that any shows about men don't stand a chance, not even good ones. The only way Tim Allen could get a show on was to make it about living in a house full of w

Really?!

I confess to watching Pan Am, mostly for the fine looking ladies, but the show was not too bad

Cougar Town being delayed could give COMMUNITY a chance to riff on its own situation
by supertoyslast
Abed's reaction to Cougar Town being shunted to midseason was hilarious. Looks like me may be getting a reprise.
-
I give it three shows before being cancelled, any show who refers to christian women as bitches smell of libtards.
-
had the cancellation of pan am right on the money said they would hold it till midseason, then cut and run now the networks can again say that period pieces dont sell...rofl and be happy for ricci...she gets to eat again
-
it was only different than madmen because it had nothing to do with the reality of the times pan am was pure fantasy which is fine...if they had sold the show that way they didnt and audiences didnt buy it
-
At least it was better than Cougar Town. Which I didn't even know was still on the air. But Man Ap sucks, though.
-
ABC ordered an additional episode, which brings the season to 14, as a strong international premiere has given the network hope that there may be some life in the series yet. Man Up is done though, officially. Cast and crew officially released to look for other work.

http://www.herald.ie/entertainment/tv-radio/as-pan-am-looks-set-to-crash-we-look-at-other-cancelled-flights-of-fancy-2939918.html read and weep my friend may have gotten good ratings, but its being panned and not enough money in foreign sales to keep this bird in the air

I never really saw "Star Wars" like that before! Thanks!

They say the show it's only being moved from the timeslot, and it's not "cancelled."

Wouldnt mind seeing a show like Downton Abbey set on a slave plantation. Get on it NBC......HA!

Pan Am is in serious trouble, but it hasn't been formally cancelled. It would be more accurate to say that the back nine haven't been ordered yet -- but then, that's been true for months. In fact, Sony has a track record for finding new homes for trouble shows (you know about Damages, but that's just the tip of the iceberg) and they would happily shop Pan Am, if ABC would just cut it loose. Thus far, no luck. I'm not saying Pan Am is the greatest show ever; it's just not dead yet. And given that Sony has already *spent* the money on thirteen episodes, they have a lot of incentive to try to make some of that back with foreign sales. It won't put them in the black, but it will wash out a lot of the red. P.S. GCB is, uh, uneven. Except for the spray tans, which are uniformly orange. I hope they can fix that in color timing.

Spidey-sense tells me that "Good Christian Bitches"...
by Immortal_Fish
...will portray them as anything but that. Oh, you silly ABC! Trying to cash in on that over-saturated Jersey Shore market, you've done it again!
-
its dead, and will not be brought back ever...no matter what overseas sales bring the show could be retooled, but they will need a show runner (not the guy they just brought on) who respects both the audience and the times
-
The show will portray them as *misunderstood* and wrongly lumped in with extremists. And you do know that using the term *libtard* is more a way to label yourself than anything, right? And for your information, the main character in the book is VERY christian... and portrayed as the hero of the story, the good one. just wow. Just when I've assumed I have read the dumbest shit here, someone comes along and surprises me again. You're welcome.
-
Not the best show on tv, but better than most of the shit this season.
-
She's hotter than the surface of the Sun.

Episode with the original Star Wars beta max getting ruined/stolen. I cracked up the entire episode. Oh well.

royston lodge, if you like her you should check out the movie "Dreamland"
by jim
she spends a portion of that film in a bikini. Plus, it's a pretty good movie (despite the lack of giant robots and explosions).
-
Henry Simmons would return; glad he did - funniest character on the show. Also liked Pan Am. I think too many people wrote it off as a poor man's Mad Men without ever watching it.

big jim: Is she a redhead in Dreamland? She wasn't nearly as hot as a blonde in Lars and the Real Girl.
by Royston Lodge

but still looks plenty hot. Haven't seen Lars & The Real Girl, but maybe it's not the hair colour but the hair style that makes the difference.
