Maybe this one will grow up to be a great international film director along the lines of Hitchcock or Kubrick (with less eccentricities). To the Knowles family, that's the same as saying the kid will grow up to be president of the United States.

    Due Date?

    by kamnell

So, from Harry's post in the talk backs of the story about the director of Blade, I figure the due date is roughly late June, early July? (He stated that when she pulled her spy caper she was about 2 months pregnant and implied it took place sometime around the end of Nov/early Dec.) Who knows maybe the little rug rat will be a Yankee Doodle Dandy born on the 4th of July and they will name him after Jimmy Cagney.(JC Knowles wouldn't sound half bad actually) If that doesn't work out, I vote for the Ash suggestion. It's just a cool name.

This is afterall a personal site...

    by father geek

it is run almost totally by family members and a small group of close personal friends. We share our feelings, insights, hopes & dreams, and information with the world, for free. There are no monthly dues or fees charged, you don't even have to register any where to access AICN. If tomorrow we changed the format totally that is our right, just as it is your right to come and go thru the site as you wish at no $ cost to you. Harry is out of the country, I don't know where for sure, this is the only way I have to let him know about something he was very interested in. Is it proper to put here. Sure! I wish I had $2 for every time I've heard a news anchor say on TV that so and so staff member just had a kid etc...Magazines and newspapers constantly mention births, deaths ,and illness' of staff members, Late night talk shows, EW, and others are ripe with comments like,"Hey I hear your brother (or sister) just had a kid." It is actually more appropiate to bring it up here than in those corperate owned giants. AICN is a solely owned business as of right now, its possible even probable that in the not too distent future we may go public. If, or when that happens alot of things may change at AICN. Hopefully the personal touch won't.

    Baby Names, Kudos, Huzzahs

    by moriarty

Well, I've said it to Dannie already, but let me say it again: congratulamations. You're having a boy. This means, of course, that you will have to relocate to a location Harry doesn't know, change your identity, and raise the boy in secret. If not, Harry is going to actually have the chance to influence the boy, and that... well, that scares me. At least you TALK BACKers are pitching in to help, eh? Believe me when I say that I mean this with utmost respect and affection: you people are retarded. Only here could someone come up with my personal three favorite choices for baby names so far. In ascending order, they are -- NUMBER THREE, Spider Monkey. NUMBER TWO, Keyser Soze. NUMBER ONE (by a huge margin), Power Man. In fact, screw that... I'm changing MY name to Power Man.

He'd have a proud legacy to live up to, but I know the Knowles clan would be more than up to the task. Should my glorious moniker not strike your fancy, might I suggest the following: Yor, The Hunter From The Future Knowles, Joe Don Knowles, Curley Neal Knowles, Eric Stratton Knowles, or Akiva Knowles. We have no right to judge on whether or not it is right for the younger Knowles to be a mother (at such a young age): as long as the child is loved and raised to be a good and moral person, right? So we can keep our 'WTF' comments inside our minds (as I am). But why this family news was posted by Father Greek on AICN *at all* confuses me as well. At any rate, my vote for a name: "Hogarth".

    You need to know this

    by jethroc

Hey! Who out there has a DVD deck. A lot of you I'll bet. I've spent several months telling people how with my DVD player I get to watch movies as they were when in theaters in widescreen; meaning that when they made the videocassette they chopped off the left and right of the image so it fits on your TV screen. Last week I watched my tape copy of Starship Troupers and compared it to my DVD. I was shocked to see that in most of the talking scenes they had cropped the top and bottom of the image for my wide-screen version! As the penultimate example, in the shower scene, you can see Flores's nipples on the cassette, but they get chopped off on my wide-screen DVD. In the big-money shots with 500 bugs on screen, however, they do what I was expecting and cut off the right and left edges of the picture. My DVD player has an option for full-screen mode which played it the exact same as my cassette. This leaves me having to choose whether I want to see nipples or bugs when I watch it!

Tonight I put on my Heavy Metal Cassette beside my DVD. It really pissed me of!!! For the wide-screen DVD edition they have cropped the top and bottom of what I get to see on my VHS cassette. When I put the DVD deck into full-screen mode it takes the cropped DVD edition and ***stretches*** it vertically to fit it to full screen. Man, I am getting hosed here! I have to choose between full content or high resolution.

I then put in the last movie for which I have both versions: Armageddon. It is a high ratio (2.35:1) wide screen movie. The previous two were low-ratio (1.85:1) wide-screen. It shown in its entirety fully cropped on the cassette. At least I have some comfort that on a high-ratio movie I am getting my moneys' worth.
