Hi Everybody,

Mastidon here having just returned home from the most fun I have had at a movie all year.  First let me say, AVOID ALL SPOILER REVIEWS AT ALL COSTS!  This is a movie you want to go into completely cold.  Until this moment, I wouldn’t have even remotely called myself a fan of TINTIN.  In fact, until the other day, I thought the dog was named Tintin.  Now I know better and I know the real genius of the story Snowy who will steal your heart with his cleverness.

I went into this film the exact way Harry did with the first Harry Potter – no real knowledge of TINTIN and with a completely blank slate.  Can this movie stand on its own to such a non-fan?  Absolutely.  From the opening James Bond-eske credits, I was hooked.   Seems only appropriate they had James Bond in the film!

So what can I say without telling you anything about the story?  Well to begin with, we never need to see another INDIANA JONES film again because now we have TINTIN.  This is a true around-the-world adventure story.  It keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.  In fact, I could have watched 2 more hours of it. This is Spielberg at his classic storytelling.  This is RAIDERS at its finest - that special magic that makes it the perfect viewing experience.

A bit about the tech.  I went into this expecting the animation of POLAR EXPRESS.  However, POLAR EXPRESS was 2004 and I think about how much technology has changed since then, well 2004 might as well be the dark ages.  Eye popping realism is the first words that come to mind.  You feel the emotion of the actors and the realistic movement.  My precious indeed!  Once again Peter Jackson’s technology blows you away in the same way he did with Gollum but now scaled to an entire movie.  And for the 3D?  None of the annoying in your face, give you a headache 3D.  Instead it is the masterful add real depth and dimension 3D, which puts you right on the rollercoaster ride with Tintin and Snowy. Even the biggest 3D hater will have a hard time finding issues with it.

TINTIN opened here in Europe over a week ago.  One of the rare examples where we get films before they are released in the USA and I am kicking myself for not seeing it last weekend.  Unfortunately, if you live in the USA, you will have to wait until my birthday (December 21st)  or perhaps Harry’s to see it.  I can see why they are holding it back.  This is a film you will want to see again and again and what better time to do so than at Christmas?  I posted on the BNAT group that I hoped Harry doesn’t show TINTIN at BNAT since I knew I would see it beforehand.  I was wrong.  I want to see it again and again.  This is a film you will watch for years to come.

Ciao for now,

-Mastidon
