Saturday Night Live Sweeps into November with Three Back-To-Back Shows

November 5 - Charlie Day/ Maroon 5;
November 12 - Emma Stone/ Coldplay;
November 19 - Jason Segel/ Florence + The Machine

New York, NY - October 17, 2011 - Charlie Day makes his hosting debut on November 5. Day currently stars in the hit FX comedy series, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." In addition to starring, he also serves as a creator, writer and executive producer for the series. He was most recently seen in the summer blockbuster comedy "Horrible Bosses," and will start production later this year on the highly anticipated Guillermo Del Toro movie, "Pacific Rim."

Maroon 5 returns for their third appearance as musical guest. Maroon 5's latest hit "Moves Like Jagger" reached the number one spot on the Top 40 and Billboard Hot 100 charts. Gym Class Heroes' Travie McCoy will also join them to perform "Stereo Hearts." The three time Grammy Award winning group has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide and released their third studio album "Hands All Over," which spawned the Grammy nominated single "Misery." In addition, Adam Levine will return in February as one of the celebrity coaches on NBC's "The Voice."

On November 12, Emma Stone will return for her second appearance as host. Stone will next be seen in "The Amazing Spider-Man," based on the classic comic book series. Recently, she garnered attention for her role in the box office hit, "The Help," and was last seen opposite Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling in "Crazy, Stupid, Love."

Coldplay will return opposite Stone for their fourth appearance. Coldplay's forthcoming album, "Mylo Xyloto" has already spawned chart-toppers, "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" and "Paradise." The band has been recognized with numerous awards throughout their career, including seven Grammy Awards and six Brit Awards. As one of the world's best-selling music artists, Coldplay has sold over 50 million records worldwide.

On November 19, Jason Segel makes his first appearance on the SNL stage. Segel's latest film "The Muppets," is due out November 23, which he also co-wrote and produced. His past film credits include, "I Love You, Man," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," which he wrote and "Despicable Me." He currently stars in the television series, "How I Met Your Mother."

Florence + the Machine will return to SNL for their second appearance as musical guest. The Grammy nominated band will release their sophomore album, "Ceremonials," which is already garnering critical acclaim with their latest single, "Shake It Out." The band's first album, "Lungs," was an international success topping both the UK and US charts.

"Saturday Night Live" is produced in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels.

Tonight’s poll questions:

1) Is “Saturday Night Live” still on? And is it really more popular than every other NBC scripted show except “The Office”?

2) Did “Saturday Night Live” stop being funny before or after this aired?:

I'm really hoping this is good

    by MJDeViant

But I feel they will waste Charlie...if that's possible. And that's coming from someone who has watched SNL since they were like 6.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 2:45 a.m. CST

hasn't this been known for weeks?

    by thedarklingthrush

  • Or cry profusely. Anyway if Coldplay cuts into my alone time with Emma Stone I'm going to be quite displeased. And, yes, I am preparing this a week in advance. Guess it's another reason to live for 7 more days.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 3:18 a.m. CST

    How is it that...

    by LostBoyGoonie

How is it that no animated feature has used Charlie Day as a voice yet? Boggles my mind.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 4:50 a.m. CST

    Charlie's hosting SNL?

    by capt.haddock

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 4:56 a.m. CST

    lostboygoonie... is right

    by Heckles

No troll intended, you should be his agent. Dude's voice/persona is money. Literally. Glad to see him coming up. Watched 'Sunny' since the pilot. Glad to see it so popular. The Comic-Con panel was awesome this year. Hopefully Charlie can raise the cast this season a bit. They've been flat sans real comedic talent.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 5:05 a.m. CST

I've never heard of Charlie Day

    by Eric Dyer

Forgive my ignorance- of course, I am stuck in the 80's.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 6:50 a.m. CST

so i just got a $50 gift certificate

    by rben

from my company for five years of service. (gee, i hope that didn't break them). so should i get the first four seasons of SNL at target (15 a pop), porn or you know, something boring like food?

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 7:39 a.m. CST

    by c4andmore

Clearly, I'm working for the wrong company. Mine sent me a $25 gift card for 5 years service. Fuckers.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 8:34 a.m. CST

Will Charlie be wearing the Green Man costume ?

    by Itchy

Hope so ! Just started watching Always Sunny a few months ago ... it is freaking brilliant.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 10:16 a.m. CST

They really need the cast of Sunny

    by br1947

or at least the core 3 guys. Best SNL in decades

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 10:23 a.m. CST

    by comicsniper

Can't speak for the SNL discs at target but I do know one thing: no one pays for porn anymore! If you can't find anything free online to watch then you're just not trying.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 11:52 a.m. CST

    Charlie Day is funny

    by SenatorJeffersonSmith

but not a leading man or anything. Surprised they picked him to host. Emma Stone is good in movies, but not great in live settings. I'll watch Segel because that dude cracks me up. He also has the benefit of the only somewhat interesting musical guest.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 11:55 a.m. CST

Jason Segel (Muppet Movie)....Does this mean

    by thelordofhell

We will see The Land of Gorch??

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 11:57 a.m. CST

We Should All Prepare for The Possibility...

    by Crow3711

That they force Charlie to not do anything always sunny related. As much as the people who watch love it, it's not very popular and it's so dark and ugly it's not very suitable for NBC. I worry he's going to try and come off as a real up and coming movie star, which is what he is now I guess. I just think we should all prepare for the possibility that they stay away from what makes him so great on sunny. I hope not tho.

well, the last time i tried watching porn on line, it fried my computer even WITH the security features. I was looking at a site called the huns, awesome site but can't afford a new computer again so if any of y'all know of a site that doesn't have hackers and viruses as part of the porn, let me know. (or free security software.) i just bought some Veronica Hart (the legend) from CDUniverse. Big coin but at least i'm not spending bigger coin to fix the computer. It's all a trade off as far as our perversities are concerned...

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 2:57 p.m. CST

    by Youre_Gonna_Bust_Dixie

charlie day is from It's always sunny in Phildelphia, the characters on that show are pretty much stuck in the 80's so you might like it.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 4:04 p.m. CST

    taller than Tom Cruise

    by deelzbub

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 4:28 p.m. CST

i'm actually from Philly and yet

    by rben

i've never seen sunny. is any footage of philly actually in the show is it all strictly soundstage?

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 4:38 p.m. CST

    by Timahh

mostly its shot in LA on backlots and LA neighborhoods that could reasonably pass for Philly. There's been a few times they've made the trip out to Philly to film some stuff.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 5:28 p.m. CST

    by TheHouseOfLearnedDoctors

I'm not sure if this is how they still do it, but what they would do is write the whole season in advance. They'd figure out what scenes in every episode needed to be shot in Philly specifically, then they'd spend a month shooting everything they'd need for the season in Philly before they go back to LA to shoot everything else. So yes there are specific Philly locations in most episodes. It's also why each character only has like 4 different outfits, so they can keep track of everything they shot in Philly more easily once they're in LA.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 5:49 p.m. CST

what a shock. more hosts and bands I could give 2 fucks about.

    I wonder if...

    by jeffty

....they'll have a Herman Cain bit tonight on SNL, either the cold open or during Weekend Update? Nah, too obvious. And SNL is nothing if not unpredictable.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 7:16 p.m. CST

Charlie is funny, but I'd love to see the rest of the cast breakout too

    by SirGaryColeman

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 8:52 p.m. CST

Is it that they can't get better hosts?

    by CherryValance

Or do I just not give a shit about most of these people? Charlie Day was funny in Horrible Bosses. I haven't seen him in anything else. But it seems like they keep getting newbies to host. Maybe that's just because I'm not "hip". lol But it's not that long ago that being asked to host SNL was like a real honor right? I dunno. It seems like most of the hosts aren't even A-list.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 8:59 p.m. CST

wasnt andy rooney supposed to guest host?

    by john

he cant...the old racist bastard is dead

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 9:13 p.m. CST

    by jtp8000

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 11:20 p.m. CST

this is one of the best episodes in a long time

    by ShiftyEyedDog

Charlie Day is great, and even the rest of the cast seems like they're actually trying for once.

  • Nov. 5, 2011, 11:58 p.m. CST

My favorite new fall music will result in losing my man card.

    by mjgtexas

Its astonishing how awful SNL is now

    by jules windex

And I think as individuals most everyone on the show right now is pretty talented. But the skits this year are painful.

    The Amazing Spider-Man.

    by Richard Graham

It doesn't come out until 2013. I'm sure Emma will be seen in something before then. Just sayin. Checking facts is fundamental and shit.

  • Nov. 7, 2011, 10:40 a.m. CST

re: "Checking facts is fundamental and shit."

    by jim

No kidding. I assume you mean facts such as The Amazing Spider-Man coming out in 2012, not 2013. Or that while she does have two other films coming out before that, both (neither of which will be nearly as high-profile as ASM) are still at least 4 months off.
