Trailer For Steve McQueen's SHAME!

I don't think I've seen an NC-17 placed so boldly in a theatrical preview before, but good for Fox Searchlight for doing so. As I've said before, I have nothing against NC17 as a rating at all. I just want the stigma removed. SHAME is an adult film, about adult things, and I'd hate to see a filmmaker like Steve McQueen denigrated just because he wants to go places that might be uncomfortable for some audiences. It's pretty simple - if you can't handle a frank discussion of sexual addiction and family dysfunction, don't see the film.
Personally, I want to see SHAME pdq - Michael Fassbender has quickly become a hell of an actor to watch, and he's proven he can do serious drama as well as popcorn fare. The trailer feels suitably intense and I love the cinematography in it - dark, but classically shot. Feels like McQueen is making a stylish drama and can't wait to see it. That trailer doesn't at all relay that the film is an hour and a half of looking at dude's junk... which is what I've read in reviews.

As dark and focused as the whole movie. Liked this a whole lot more than HUNGER. Although the NC17 US rating is frankly bizarre. There are a LOT more explicit movies around. It's almost as though they're rating it as a movie for adults rather than content. Which may be a good thing. Keeps the twittering popcorn dribblers out.

The rating description says SOME EXPLICIT SEXUAL CONTENT. They didn't use the infamous MALE NUDITY warning that was created after BRÜNO supposedly because "parents requested" that they be warned when there is not just nudity, but MALE nudity, the worst kind of nudity.

Remember, once upon a time Scorsese used Robert DeNiro a lot. Nobody complained about there being other actors in the sea back then. If the dudes love making movies together, so be it. In fact, it was thanks to HUNGER that Fassbender became famous, or at least exposed him enough which made all directors want to work with.

When I first heard about the MPAA bruhaha over the rating of the latest Steve McQueen flick...I thought, "Wtf? Steve McQueen has an UNRELEASED almost porno flick that their putting out?" <p> I was thinking maybe he shot a "Last Tango In Paris" type flick right before he died...and it ended up sitting on a shelf somewhere w/o a distributor...or that it got "shut down" after his passing because it was incomplete. <p> I'm disappointed and...yet, slightly relieved that is not the case...But Nordling could put the word "director" in front of this new McQueen once in a while! Cuz... <p> There's only ONE muthafuckin' STEVE McQUEEN!

One was an asshole prima-donna man-child riddled with personal insecurities who looked really cool onscreen, a master of understated and physical acting, and ocasionally proved he could actually act the hell out of a role in all that it required of him... when he bothered to, that is. The other is a young british filmmaker who's proving to be quite talented.

Ive prob seen 30 films in the past 5 years with dick shots and theyre all R rated. This is NC17 because of the psychological /disturbing nature of the material, not for dick shots.
