Apparently looking to emulate the the brisk turnaround time between 2009's SHERLOCK HOLMES and this year's forthcoming SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS, Warner Bros. is already scripting a third installment of the Robert Downey Jr/Jude Law franchise.
Per Deadline...
Warner Bros has set Drew Pearce to write Sherlock Holmes 3, continuing the Guy Ritchie-directed series that stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. The deal will soon be sealed with Pearce, who is currently writing Iron Man 3, which will also star Downey.
Too bad Paramount and Team Abrams didn't take this approach to their STAR TREK franchise. As far as I'm concerned, THIS is how to keep a franchise/brand afloat...
