Is there a cash prize of some sort? How about an entry fee? This sounds pretty damn cool. Will there be any public screenings. Somebody let me know.

    I'm a genious but......

    by eddie munster

like I said, I'm a genious but I can't come up with a script within two months. Is this event coming up every year? If so I've got 14 months to come up with briliant and sick scripts coming to a theatre near you soon!!! I'm not kidding, I'm just stupid and sad. Cheers

    Prints only?

    by brob

Father Geek, you mentioned sending prints in, but will they also accept video copies? My short film did originate on 16mm film but due to the outrageous expense of getting a film print made I cut it electronically and got my final film on Beta SP video tape. Will they still accept it? (and for all you who are gonna go on about "Beta?", its and industry standard.)

    Use your heads

    by metallifried

Um, hello people. Did you not notice that several URLs were given where you could actually LOOK UP THE ANSWERS to those questions instead of being explicitly told? Genius. Hmm . . .

In any case, I'm a kind soul (I am a Metallica fan, after all), so I will attempt to answer whichever ones I can remember right here.
    1) Cash prizes are given, but the website does not state how much.

    2) You can (and must) submit your entries on VHS, but (depending on which contest you enter) if you win you may have to submit a print of it.

    3) It's called the ANNUAL Hollywood Film Festival. I'm guessing that the likelyhood of them having one next year is pretty high.

That's all the questions I remember. If you have any others, the internet is at your fingertips.

    ReelUniverse.com is better

    by indiesrule

    Yahoo film festival is cool
    but the site that really
    helps indie filmmakers
    is http://www.ReelUniverse.com.

    They build you webpage, stream
    your trailer, and dont make
    any money when you sell
VHS and DVDs of your film to
    their visitors. They are
    working with Rob Nilsson
    and other great indie filmmakers.

All the other sites either suck
    or help filmmakers that make
shorts. This is the only site
    that helps true indie filmmakers.

They have my vote for the
    "mp3.com of movies."

    Too late for this year.

    by cereal killer

But maybe I can put together a script and film it in time for next years festival. I could finance the film by making some amateur porn. Maybe Alexandra Dupont would like to costar in it with me. Huh?

  • I noticed that this column of talkbacks has actually gotten shorter over the last few hours. I posted a comment yesterday about my wacky 3 and a half hour opus (which got edited down to 20 minutes) and now it's gone! Somebody else's went bye-bye too. I didn't read it, but the heading was something to the effect of "Any livelier around here and a funeral's gonna break out" (thank you Rodney Dangerfield). So what's going on? Is big brother filtering out Talkbacks that he doesn't like? Should I stick a "Darth" in front of my name? I thought that around here we were ALL geeks equally, now bully geeks are choosing what gets read and what doesn't. Man, it's that high school shit all over again. No wonder everybody in this world hates each other.

    by stewman

    Hmm,

Interesting festival. The ditial competition only supports VHS? Hollywood is more scared of computers than I thought.

Dialog from a crazy militant filmmaker:

"Okay, you, you and you, plant these napalm canisters over there,...you and you, place these plastic explosives underneath the welcome mat. Okay,.....Let the festival begin!!
