#OccupyGothamCity - Nolan May Be Shooting THE DARK KNIGHT RISES At Protest Site

Nordling here.

Christopher Nolan will be moving his global production of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES to New York City, and according to the Los Angeles Times, it's quite possible that the Occupy Wall Street protests may be background for several scenes for the film, as cast members have been told that they could shoot there.  While it's unclear what characters, if any, would be involved - it's likely the protest will be second unit stuff shot for context - the casting call for the New York shoot did say that the characters would be in "a city besieged by crime and corruption."  Make of that what you will.

It's unlikely that this is some new change in the story.  It's probably just a backdrop.  But since the shoot won't be arriving until October 29th, this probably boosts the life of the protests at least that much longer.  I'm sure with this news we'll start seeing Batman signs pleading for help, which would be awesome, and at the same time, be a little bit deflating of the cause.

The Occupy Wall Street movement has spread across the globe, and Christophet Nolan including the protest in his film could be a significant morale booster for those involved.  Or it could just be used for filler.  Either way, Batman's coming to the real Gotham City, so start making your signs now!

Nordling, out.
