AMERICAN REUNION Red-Band Trailer Recaptures That Turn-Of-The-Century Raunch!

Beaks here...

When AMERICAN PIE hit theaters in the summer of 1999, it offered a necessary R-rated alternative to the glut of PG-13 teen films that had been cluttering multiplexes since the January release of SHE'S ALL THAT. While those films were chasing John Hughes, this raunchy little flick - from first-time filmmakers Chris and Paul Weitz - sought to recapture the breast-baring glory of early 1980s sex romps like PORKY'S, PRIVATE SCHOOL, THE LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN and so on. Shot for $11 million, It succeeded to the tune of $235 million worldwide - mostly because it went about its tawdry business so sweetly. It was a nice sex comedy about nice teenagers getting laid.

Then came two sequels of declining quality, then a rash of direct-to-DVD spinoffs, and now, twelve years after the release of the original, a reunion. AMERICAN REUNION. Or AMERICAN PIE 4. Let's check out the just-released red-band trailer...

TEXASVILLE this ain't. But it's not often you see a kid get clobbered with a jizz-sock, so that's something. Right?

AMERICAN REUNION opens theatrically April 6, 2012.
