Don Johnson, “introduced” as a racist, murderous border vigilante in Robert Rodriquez’ hilarious Texas revenge epic “Machete,” will be back to making life miserable for people of color in Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained.”
Johnson will play Spencer Bennett, plantation owner and pimp to a stable of slave prostitutes, joining a cast that also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx.
Johnson likely found himself drafted into the Rodriguez-Tarantino camp via “From Dusk Till Dawn” star (and frequent Rodriguez collaborator) Cheech Marin, who co-starred with Johnson in the Kevin Costner golf vehicle “Tin Cup” and Carlton Cuse’s long-running cop show “Nash Bridges.”
Johnson’s other recent big-screen credits include last year’s Kristen Bell vehicle “When in Rome” and this year’s “Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star.”
