But the show isn't bad.
-
because I don't find it funny, at all.
-
She's not the strongest comedic actress in the world, but she may the most adorable woman on the planet at the moment, and that alone can carry this show for a while.

Wow. I am so old that I remember when CBS was the network no one wanted to watch

Kudos to them for figuring out what worked for them and then getting it on the air.

It's Okay, But The Joke Is Zooey is The Worst Part of The Show
by Crow3711
Fairly consistently I think the basic story lines and, more importantly, the three male room mates, actually fairly entertaining. Zooey has her moments, but more often than that, she's distracting rather than funny. Her character in no way seems like a real person. It's impossible to imagine her living to be 30 years old acting this way. It just makes no sense. The show has problems. But its okay. A lot better than either of Whitneys awful shows
-
For Aint it Cool. I love New Girl and think Zooey is hot. Damn that girl has perfect legs.
-
Bitter assholes. Zoey is seriously fucking hot. I also think the show is funny. For sure not as good as other comedies out there but it for sure shouldn't get canned so I'm glad it's doing well. Otherwise you knew Fox would have a quick trigger finger. Only problem is this show is helping out that piece of shit Raising Hope... Talk about something that needs to be shit canned.

Proving there are ALOT of lonely single guys out there who think they'll someday be saved by a quirky Manic Pixie Girl (tm).
by NeonFrisbee
Don't worry, fellas, as long as you don't get too fat, eventually you'll find a mate. She won't be as cute or super-forced/fake quirky as this chick, of course, but maybe a little quirky in an obvious way. Plus, you'll finally have sex with another human being you didn't pay for, so there's that.
-
please save us from this mediocrity mid-season replacements
-
I got past the opening to the first commercial break, and man, that was shitty. I don't care how hot she is, I just can't finish it. If you're going to run the FRIENDS 2.0 "twentysomethings spewing postmodern banter" program, at least be funny about it. At this point, Advantage: HAPPY ENDINGS.

Sorry you fail. Been married nearly 25 years and have 3 kid. So try again with your fancy internet flaming! :)

No! Don't cancel Ringer! I love Ringer! You should love Ringer too!
by kbarber29
-
It's a well-done show. It's not laugh-your-ass-off funny, but it mixes humor and heart in a good way.
-
The "make my ex jealous at a wedding" was a re-tread story line, but they added a couple of nice twists. And the slow chicken dance was a funny surprise. Gave up on Ringer after the first episode: I wanted to like it, and I like SMG, but the writing and lighting and story and production and basically everything stank on ice. No fault of the cast, in this case, just so much contrivance piled into the first episode that it just seemed desperate and needy ("like me, like me, look at all the gnarly plotting! please like me!")
-
I try to never commit to a first season show anymore but I took the dive on Ringer. I don't even know why. It's kind of ridiculous and wierd but it's kind of fun too. I would keep watching and I hope it gets some traction and sticks around. I'd like to see where it's going. Some of the biggest TV shows of all time had horrible ratings at first but got a chance to grow. I'd feel much more comfortable devoting my time to new shows every fall if the networks would commit to at least twelve episodes without canceling or burying a show for low ratings.
-
She's cutesy. And stonerish.
-
show sucks, her pointy face bothers most people, imagine that on a 3d set..ouch
-
Nothing more or less.
-
New girl is ok, but overtaking NCIS in ratings on the same night? Something's up with nielsen.
-
And she looked really good in that dress and heels this week. She should wear heels every week because her legs looked seriously suckable in those heels. The show is fairly funny. It's still getting its feet wet. I don't think they really know what to do with the new black guy yet though. Coach (Damon Wayans Jr.) had some personality quirks. The replacement seems rather nondescript thus far. I think this show will get better as it goes along and finds its groove. It is better than that NCIS crap though. It's also much better than Whitney. And greggers- Yes! Much love to Happy Endings. That show is fricking hilarious.
-
but they will plummet once they move to fox especially now that the yanks are out
-
I guess people really love grown women acting like eight year-olds.

Proving once and for all that the "hipster" fad has reached the mainstream and is hence, over
by mdk
Now semi-creative layabouts will have to start wearing non-vintage, very loose clothes bought in suburban malls, mullet haircuts, baseball caps and living in cookie-cutter tract housing in the newer parts of town... just to be different.
-
Oct. 7, 2011, 5:03 a.m. CST
Just don't get the attraction, isn't she, like, around 40 by now?
by mdk
Doesn't that mean this show will very soon reach that "creepy later seasons of Friends" stage?
-
Love the Douchebag jar and Zoey is a doll. I want ot hold her and pet and make her my friend.
-
Create a character and give her funny stuff to say. Don't make her spout off terrible sex-jokes every 4 minutes. Whitney, you are such a lame ass turd.
-
The show is good, a little too cliched than it needs to be bit it's good.
-
My wife and I both enjoy Ringer. Yes it is a little crazy in the storytelling but the double storylines with Siobhan and what she has planned for her husband in France and Bridget trying to get Siobhan's life back together as a sort of penance by pretending to be her and then fucking it up more is excellent.
-
I like the show, but Zooey's got the first season Steve Carroll syndrome. In the first season of The Office, Carroll strayed over the line of being inappropriately funny to being inappropriately unconfortable. I found many of the things he did cringe worthy the first season, but eventually they found the right tone for him. I see the same thing with Zooey. Many of her quirks boarder on just being annoyingly unconfortable. That is why I truly cannot get totally hooked on the show. Most sitcoms take several years before the characters truly find your voice. You look at virtually every successful comedy on TV over the years and the characters are much different from year one to the end of the series. So there is hope that by the end of the season or next year, the writers learn the boundaries of where Zooey's quirkiness just starts to be annoying.
-
I was a bit concerned that Ep2 was so similar to Ep1 in practically every single way. But I really enjoyed Episode 3 and how Jess became the hero that episode instead of the person needing fixing. Also, "slut butler" is probably the funniest line on TV this week. I openly cracked up a few times this week at the wacky antics of the New Girl cast and look forward to future eps. Granted, I hope they end the whole "group hug" endings fairly quickly. It is just too touchy feely and feels out of place.
-
I get what people are saying. I really want to hate the show. It feels like a show that could be done really well on HBO, or a network with more than a $10 budget. It also feels like a show that could be done much better if actually made for adult viewers, but instead they stuck it on the tween network. So it feels wierd trying to make a more adult, thriller drama about rich people but having to market it for the younger "gossip girl" audience and only having a budget to have one actually "rich" looking scene per episode. The rest looks cheap...like looking back at the original Beverly Hills 90210. Yet I still watch and my wife is hooked due to the regular cliffhangers/twists. Gellar does an admirable job playing the two sisters (despite the bad writing and often bad acting of supporting cast).
-
its not hilarious but its funny enough and satisfyingly entertaining. I'm definitely nowhere near thinking she's annoying and she is getting hotter each week. The ex boyfriend bit was funny last week with the broken tv stuff and the chicken dance was a great tv moment this week. The usher rivalry was a bit shit. Think the Nick character seems fine and the inevitable get together with Jess could be good and Schmidt is funny. The thing they should fix,but its minor,is the terrible opening credits.
-
That was the character, he didn't mellow out at any point
-
including my girlfriend. Me, I hate it. I don't actually mind Zoey either... but the rest of the cast are horrible actors. Jokes arent funny either. Well at least black guy replacement was better than first black guy. But its bad. After watching the pilot, I said it wouldnt last 6 episodes. I can't believe its doing so well. I guess many people just want to love Zoey and can't admit to the show being bad. Honestly, if they want good comedy, watch Parks and Rec. There's a hot hipster girl on there and its funnier

As someone who alway had a boner for Zooey, I recently saw her in Your Highness and gotta say, she ain't all that
by THE_CHOPPAH
maybe it was the HD, but she looked a little long in the face. That said, I've never seen her breasts look better than in that movie. I never realized she had such great cans before. Her cleavage is on display pretty much every scene she's in.
-
The original black guy in the pilot was fucking hilarious and then in the second episode they replaced him with another black guy (who is not nearly as funny) with one line of lame dialogue. What up wit dat?
-
Are you serious? You like the replacement black guy better than the original? Have to disagree with you there completely. To each...

the coach character was repalced because his other show got picked up
by Xiphos_2
He's on a show called Happy Endings that everybody, including the cast apparently, thought was going to get cancelled but then got picked up.
-

At least they wrote him out of the show and didn't just swap actors
by Monolith_Jones

Absolutely! Her cans looked FANtastic in that movie! Cleavage be popping out every which way!
-
Too bad she wasn't part of Marteetee's entourage! Natalie's fine a$$ wasn't too shabby either!

Choppah's Pick of the Week: Your Highness. WTF, since we ain't getting a DVD column this week
by THE_CHOPPAH
Your Highness 2011 Directed by: David Gordon Green Starring: Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschenal's breasts The Good: 1. Zooey Deschenal's cleavage, 2. Natalie Portman's thong-clad a$$ 3. One extended scene with at least 10 naked breasts 4. A pot-smoking Yoda-like child molesting muppet 5. Good comedic performances by Portman as the no-nonsense Ranger and Justin Theroux as the Evil Wizard 6. An alternate ending on the Special Features where *SPOILERS* the Evil Wizard lays a giant egg from which an animatronic dragon emerges and proceeds to burn said Evil Wizard's face off (should have been left in the movie) The Bad: Everything Else
-
Zooey was made for television. Her kooky weirdness is a delight. I hope the writers can keep it rolling.

Abby > Zooey

A serious question about the New Girl. Herc, feel free to answer as well.
by THE_CHOPPAH
Does the show highlight Miss Deschenal's superb bosom? I.E., has there been any cleavage yet? Because, I am getting the impression from the previews, at least, that not so much, if at all, which is a damn shame. So, please correct me if I'm wrong. Because, if I am mistaken this will be my new favorite show. Sorry, Zooey, but your gorgeous eyes just aren't enough of a draw for me to tune in. Well, at least not your blue eyes.
-
The last episode, the third did showcase her legs though
-
you can totally see nips through her dress in the sacrifice scenes. Two of the reasons why I liked this film.
-
Thanks! Still not enough to get me to tune in.
-
And she's funny. Give it a try, there may be cleavage during sweeps.

by Nerfee
I Think that's a sitcom in and of itself. Perhaps Ringer could go that route?

A show about a character no one likes with a good supporting cast?
by Baked
So...it's like a sitcom version of Grey's Anatomy.
