When there’s no more room in Hell The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day will walk the earth.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!

Hey! I’m only a teeny tiny bit late with this column, which is shocking considering I’m fresh off of some 20-ish hours of travel. So, apologies for being slightly late, but some self-applied backpats for not being more tardy considering just how damned tired I am right about now…

To make up for being not precisely on time, I present not one, but two behind the scenes shots from Dawn of the Dead, George Romero’s incredible follow-up to his template-setting masterpiece Night of the Living Dead.

The legend of Dawn of the Dead was known to me before actually seeing the movie and it was one of those rare cases where the movie lived up to its legend. I love the film unconditionally, I care about the characters, I love the message, the effects, the direction, the humor, the horror, the schtick. I love it all! Just as NOTLD did a decade before Dawn gave horror a new set of guidelines, expanding the universe Romero created and informing every zombie film to come after.

Today we have a shot of Romero directing one of his walking dead and Tom Savini posing with one of his undead (well, probably dead now) creations. And awesome tube socks. Thanks to reader Bill Whirity for sending along the Savini image! Click either image to embiggen!

If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.

Tomorrow’s pic would never eat a windfall apple.
