Charles Napier
1936-2011

I am – Hercules

Charles Napier -- the toothy thespian who played everything from the male lead in Russ Meyer’s “Cherry, Harry & Raquel” to the space hippie Adam in “Star Trek” to the Good Ol’ Boy who wondered what Jake Blues would look like with “no fuckin’ teeth” -- has passed.

Napier provided the sound of “Hulk Screaming” for TV’s “Incredible Hulk.”

The Kentucky native was a favorite of producer-director Jonathan Demme, who cast him, often against type, in “Citizen’s Band,” “Melvin and Howard,” “Swing Shift,” “Something Wild,” “Married To The Mob,” “Miami Blues,” “Silence of the Lambs,” “Philadelphia” “Beloved” and “The Manchurian Candidate.”

Other key credits include the first two Austin Powers movies, “Rambo: First Blood Part II,” “Ernest Goes To Jail,” “The Grifters,” and “The Cable Guy.”

His final movie was the Jeremy Piven car salesman comedy “The Goods.”
