Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
I have a love/hate relationship with Scream. I love the film itself. It’s gory, scary, fun and has a simple twist that was like surprise a left hook when it was released.
The movie itself I have no issue with. It’s what happened to horror as a genre in its wake. Suddenly everything had to be winking at the camera the whole time and we got half-baked shit like Valentine (which stole its best moment from the great ‘80s hunk of weirdness called Alone in the Dark) and a series of Scream clones until J-horror took over.
But I can’t blame Scream. That is one solid and smart horror film. The sequels… ehhh… not so much, but that original film deserves a place here so I culled a shot of Mr. Wes Craven and Drew Barrymore during the filming of the very memorable opening sequence.
