AICN Exclusive Shots Of KNUCKLE, Playing At Fantastic Fest!

I'm truly worried for Tim League.  Sure, last year he took on Michelle Rodriguez, but this year, I hope to God they're wearing gloves, because he's going to be taking on bare-knuckle champion James Quinn McDonagh at the Fantastic Debates.  I don't even know what they'll be debating, but Tim could be insisting that the sky was blue and McDonagh could convince the world that it's green after this fight.

KNUCKLE is a documentary featuring McDonagh that will be playing at Fantastic Fest this year.  I'm really looking forward to this documentary about the world of bare-knuckle boxing - think EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE without Clyde  the orangutang - and two men that fight for their own family's honor.  A look at the world of Traveller clans, it's yet another great film this year in the lineup.  Here's some exclusive shots from the film:

    Clans of roving con men tied together through ancestry. You'll notice them in the background picking the pockets of the crowd while their boy distracts the crowd with a fight. When they're not doing that they're taking bets against their boy and when they've got it covered, the opponent magically 'wins'. All cuts distributed backstage and they move on to the next city and next set of marks.

    Not a bad Documentry

    I live in the UK where this is already realeased and its not a bad documentry, the only thing i really didn't enjoy is that the commentry from the director is very quiet and you can't hear what he is saying because everything else is loud and you can't make out what he is saying, other than that it's not that bad at all.

    Its not bad but mostly shot on video camera.. the boxing scenes are available on youtube and have been for years..Just type in pikey boxing or bare knuckle pikey bastards... Youll find them

    This film is controversial in that it shows the raw and brutal savagery of what happens when members of Ireland's and Britain's Traveling Community challenge each other to one on one bouts of bare knuckle boxing. The main focus of the documentary in on James Quinn MacDonagh the top fighter from the Quinn Macdonagh clan. James comes across as an amiable man with a good head on his shoulders where as the rest of his family and supporters don't fare so well. James must stand up for his family in a long running feud with their distant cousins and sworn enemies the Joyce clan and is subjected to fight after fight with an up and coming member of that family who want revenge for an incident or incidents that took place some time ago (The incidents are touched on but never satisfactorily explained). There are subtitles provided as some of the heavy accents are very hard to understand. I'm Irish and I could just about make out some of them. In Ireland and Britain Travelers are subjected to an awful amount of racism and prejudices and thus a film that delves right into the heart of their secret world of settling feuds is unique. Probably not as brutal as its been made out to be in some press releases it nevertheless is not for the squeamish. There is footage of grown men, some of them grandfathers beating the shit out of each other so if that doesn't appeal to you then don't bother with this.

    HAHA no. Thats just what they want you to believe. People don't like them because they're con men that look to fleece you of your wallet. The entire reason they're Travellers is to constantly be on the move to a new set of marks. If they could make an honest living somewhere, they still wouldn't. Conning people out of their money is what they do. As per the whole 'rivalry' and 'revenge' horseshit between the clans? All part of the con. Sure, they might not like each other, but they love the money more. Or ask yourself this Sherlock, why do these fights need to be staged in front of crowds? If it was all about beating the shit out of each other for pride, they certainly wouldn't need a crowd to do that. Its simply to bring in the marks and then lighten them of their money. Plain and simple.

    its at least 30mins too long , you can barely hear the narration , the structure of the film appears to build up to a fight that never happens and as for the fight scenes , well , you know when superman fights the radioactive guy with the mullet in superman 4 , well that is 100 times better than what is on offer here , 2 of the fights end when someone gets bitten , one ends when both run out of stamina , after watching it i just felt like i had learnt nothing about the travelling community and this film added to the sterotype that they are a bunch of violent fuck wits which in most cases is not the truth.
