Who Wants To Live Forever On 100% Pure Adrenaline?!

Merrick here...

In general, Harry doesn't like for us to post more than one newslet in the same article...but these two bits are so similarly themed...and reader response to both projects will likely be so identical...I figured 'Why not?'

Our first order of business:  per a Press Release from Alcon Entertainment, a remake of Kathryn Bigelow's POINT BREAK is now in the works.

The new version is set in the world of international extreme sports, and like the original involves an undercover FBI agent infiltrating a criminal ring, but plot points beyond that have not been revealed by the filmmakers.

[EDIT]

The film is being fast tracked, with the filmmakers set to take the project out to directors soon.

Meanwhile, Summit's long-brewing HIGHLANDER remake has evidently found a director.  Justin Lin (who helmed the most recent three FAST AND THE FURIOUS films) was at one point with this project, but it's now looking like he'll be focusing on a sixth installment of the F&F franchise instead...and maybe or maybe not a new TERMINATOR picture as well.

So, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo now has the HIGHLANDER gig.  Fresnadillo directed 28 WEEKS LATER and the recent INTRUDERS (which is playing at TIFF) and is also involved with the endlessly-in-development CROW remake (or does his attachment to HIGHLANDER now contravene that?)  As far as HIGHLANDER goes, the concept is being "re-imagined" and "re-booted" - all of that - via a script that was recently polished by Melissa Rosenberg (a writer/producer on Showtime's DEXTER and a scripter on the TWILIGHT films).
