Ron Howard May Direct 364! What Would You Do If You Had One Day Of Superpowers?

Nordling here.

364 is high concept - high concept meaning you can explain the plot in a single sentence.  In this case, 364 supposes that if you had one day a year with superpowers, what would you do for the rest of that year in preparation?  Would you plan it out?  Would you be a hero, or a villain?  Save the world, or rob Fort Knox?  The concept is intriguing and the pitch by David Guggenheim (next year's Denzel Washington vehicle SAFE HOUSE) was enough to get Universal very interested; so interested that Imagine Entertainment has attached itself to the project, with Ron Howard slated to direct.

364 is about a man who tries to figure out throughout the year what he will do on the day he gets superpowers.  Personally, since you'd have to suffer the repercussions of your actions the next day, I'd make the most of it.  I'd probably be selfish, and fly around the world in a day, see the sights, before returning home.  Or I'd punch cars in traffic, either one.

I think it's a terrific idea, and an original take on the superhero genre.  This genre isn't going anywhere, so refreshing takes on it are welcome, and this one sounds like a good one.  No word on casting yet, as this is in the very early stages, but I could see a series of films on this one.  Universal has been unable to make the commitment lately to films like DARK TOWER and AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, but this seems a fairly safe bet for them.

Nordling, out.
