It's going to take three studios to bring you the end of the world - Fox, Disney, and Dreamworks. But according to the Hollywood Reporter, ROBOPOCALYPSE will be Steven Spielberg's next film after LINCOLN, and we even get a release date - July 3, 2013 (if the world is still here by then). DIsney will handle the domestic release, and Fox the international.
I was hoping that we'd see INTERSTELLAR next, but that's looking more and more like it may be in The Beard's rearview mirror. I hope he returns to it at some point, but to have Spielberg bring us extinction by robot will be just as awesome.
Hey, maybe this is a sequel (of sorts) to A.I.! Now that we've seen Michael Bay give us vast robo-destruction, let's see a true master of film do it.
