I am – Hercules!!

Danny Trejo reprises the role of Uncle Isadore “Machete” Cortez in Robert Rodriguez’ “Spy Kids 4-D,” in cinemas now, but if you’re too cheap to shell out for ticket and already subscribe to FX for “Justified,” you can check out Trejo as the latest member of the “Sons of Anarchy’ cast:

The fourth season returns with new episodes Sept. 6.

“Machete,” which may or may not be the finest thing Rodriguez has ever created, is on Cinemax HD right now. Check that out ASAP.

The entire cast did a boot ride for veterans in LA on Sunday

I've never watched the show, but it was real nice to see.

How good is S.O.A.? Where does it fit among shows like "Breaking Bad", "Mad Men", etc.?

While I've never watched Breaking Bad or Mad Men, I can say I freakin' love SOA.

Give the first season a watch (only 13 episodes) and see if it grows on ya.

    I think I've re-watched seasons 1-3 about 4 times now, lol.

  • And that finale was just awful. But until that point, I enjoyed the shit out of it.

    S1 Bit slow

    by kiwijar

But season 2 was some of the best TV ive seen...I watched 7hrs straight to get me to the last ep of season 2. Ending was a bit lame.

Season 3 is alright but the final ep is PHENOMENAL!!!

    SoA is my favorite show

    by georgecauldron

Breaking Bad is the best but SoA is better for all-around entertainment. Some of it is a little hokey or over the top but it suits the storytelling.

SoA moved up to #2 current best show for me after last year's awful Dexter season 5.

    SoA

    by dukeroberts

Season 3 was weaker than the previous two seasons, but still worth a look. Seasons 1 and 2 were damn good. Season 4 starts next Tuesday. Looking forward to it.

Season 5 of Dexter was kind of a letdown after the phenomenal season 4. Can't wait for season 6 though!

  • It's immensely watchable, if you can get past the manufactured machismo and a LOT of minor plot holes. Like "Breaking Bad" and "Mad Men" and so many other cable shows, though, you'll find yourself rooting for characters who, ultimately, are pretty fucking despicable. Your feelings, if any, for "The Shield" probably will be a good barometer for whether you'll like "Sons of Anarchy." It's from one of the main writers of "The Shield," and it definitely has the same production values (I think it might be the same production crew, in fact) and pathos.

  • So you've got nothing to lose just giving the show a try. You'll know whether you like it within a couple episodes.

    SAMCRO, Ireland, and quality

    by gene_the_cows_lsd_milk

I'd agree with most of the posters on this TB that while I love this show, I wouldn't quite place it in the high ranks that Breaking Bad and a few other top-quality shows occupy. I personally prefer it over Mad Men, but then again I haven't yet seen all of MM.

For those new to the show, I'd recommend powering your way through S1 just to see if it's for you. I got hooked mid-way through S1.

S3 was by far the weakest, as many have already pointed out. The trip to Ireland deals primarily with the events of the S2 cliffhanger. A whole lot of wasted potential, IMO, but I do think that they made up for it with the fantastic S3 finale.

And now, HEAR ME HERC!! Gimme my SAMCRO talkbalk starting Sept. 6! Pretty please, with some engine oil on top.

Don't understand the weak S3 comments

    by darthjedi

As this show has gotten consistently better each season. It definitely had a slow stretch last season with the whole find the baby arc, but it was just a part of the overall story, which turned out to be pretty epic. And I can't remember, ever, a resolution of a story arc in any television show where I actually jumped out of my seat and yelled "Fuck YEAH!" like I did at the S3 finale.
Can't comment about Mad Men as I've never watched because frankly, the subject matter bores me to tears. But comparatively to Breaking Bad, eh, about equal in my eyes. SOA started really slow, then built; BB started with a bang, then slowed down this season. Apples and oranges really, and I dig 'em both for different reasons.
