Check Out This Golden Ship(ish?) Thing From The AVENGERS Shoot!!
Merrick here...
SuperHeroHype reveals some interesting pics of an object spotted on the AVENGERS set, apparently last week.
Asgardian? Maybe/probably. Or a pimped out Trade Federation Droid Fighter?

Now THAT'S podracing!
-
That's just a crane from United Rental. johnny-flores.blogspot.com
-
WTF? Are we spoiling it for ourselves with all this info?
-
It's a picture of a ship. So far we know very little about the story.
-
Two-seater? It's hard to gauge the size from this photo...
-
Obviously this is the scene where Jar Jar and Sam Jackson get lost in NY after crashing a stolen fighter. WTF AICN? You see Sam Jackson and you fucking assume it's Avengers? He was in SW's too asshole! ANyways, I look forward to the new SW TV show. The Chin knows how to make a good yarn.
-
You know, that Loki stands on and flies around on.
-
I mean I know Loki is in it, but I hope to GOODness that all these superheroes aren't being epically assembled just for Round TWO with Loki and an Asgardian army of some kind....YEESH! I want Masters of Evil! Or Skrulls! Or Ultron! Ultron for the sequel maybe....kicking Iron Man's ass!

Looks like a prop from Masters of the Universe (1987)
by Samuel Fulmer
Can Dolph Lundgren be far behind?
-
Possibly a sled for Terrax, working for Thanos & setting up for a future Infinity Gauntlet story?
-
Aug. 25, 2011, 11:17 a.m. CST
I take it back. I think it's some kind of flying chariot from Asgard. Loki's...?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/25/spider-man-impostor-terro_n_936182.html This guy is hilarious.
-
I also thought it looked like it came from the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie. Even though it was soooo cheesy, and somewhat awful, I have a little bit of geek love for that thing. I hope Avengers inspires huge amounts of geek love in me!
-
I might be more inclined to believe that. However looking at the design of the ALIEN weapon spotted earlier it's hard to tell. Definitely a glider or something you would stand on though. Interesting.
-
I don't know what that thing is, but apparently you can get them at United Rentals.

I have three of those in my garage and one in my basement somewhere.
by fat_rancor_keeper
Yup I'm a proud hoarder!
-
Skrull as well
-
It's aliens. Loki is behind some sort of alien invasion plot involving the Cosmic Cube. Everyone's assuming the aliens are Skrulls, but Harry said he read a script (or a treatment) and that the aliens race isn't named. I guess we'll know what they're supposed to be when we see one.

@mennen I only read the articles on movies I'm not interested in, like this one. So if you are interested in it, I would suggest avoiding all articles/spoilers.

-
in full He-Man mode would be FUCKING awesome...The AVengers fear Oleg
-
I think Superherohype or Latino Review had a potential spoiler scoop a couple of months back that Thanos was going to make an appearance in this movie, but the primary villians were going to be Loki and the Skrulls.
-
and the mo-cap guys are just asgardian creatures/robots/trolls and not skrulls at all.
-
If I genuinely give a shit about the movie I avoid pretty much every article/trailer etc about it. But for a fluffy summertime diversion like this, I have no qualms letting my curiosity get the better of me.
-
- at the end of Thor, he was stuck in Asgard because the Rainbow Bridge was shattered. I'd imagine that when he sees Loki up to shenanigans on ol'Midgard, he hops into a golden ship - chariot type thing to get down here. I don't get how they're going to not include a few scenes with Odin or Heimdall in this and make it work though - or at least have Thor getting in touch with Jane Foster.
-
since Loki looks enough like him as it is.
-
The rotors will be added in post.
-
I saw Loki and the Skrulls play at Bonnaroo last year... those guys rock!

Tohn007- If your linked story is correct I hope Marvel/Disney has enough sense to...
by EastcoastAvenger
get their mitts on Silver Surfer and Galactus. Because if an infinity gauntlet wielding Thanos is on Marvels radar were gonna need a whole lot 'o superheroes on the roster. And we ought to be introduced to a bevy of cosmic beings pretty soon aka Galactus, The Watcher, Infinity ect!
-
I agree, if they go with Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet for later in the series, they are going to have to introduce Adam Warlock as well. I think the budget would be ridiculously high for something like that. Thanos took on the whole Marvel Universe and damn near won.
-
Has that mythical kind of elegant cool cheap-plastic look
-
Not too much to ask for. I'm sure the Red Skull has got to be involved somehow. His exit from the end of Captain America was way to similar to the Bifrost Bridge effect from Thor.

Can someone define the phrase 'interesting picture' for me.
by Arkhaminmate001
So cool new these days is a shit photo
-
Maybe that fight sequence we saw being filmed was the Avengers fighting a bunch of Mandroids (straight out of the Roy Thomas/Neil Adams Kree/Skrull War issues) that were sent to capture Bruce Banner/Hulk.
-
at being about a week late with everything. First there was the really old TDKR chase footage, now this.

"Ship(ish?)" What the fuck is that even suppose to mean, anyway?
by AsimovLives
Shipish, what the fuck is that supposed to mean? An atempt at describing an half-ship hybrid vehicle? If you ar enot sure if that's a ship you are bweholsding, then just say "something that might be a ship", "it's looks like a ship", "ship-like". you know, something like that, for fuck's sakes. How fucking hard can that be? How can you dare criticise foreigners in their use of english and then murder your own native language like that? What's your excuse? Balls and piss!!
-
Its Thor's Suppository !!!!
-
Are you panty-loving queers HAPPY NOW!?

Ship-ish.....much easier.

It must make you feel like shit that the Avengers leaks are so much cooler than the turds cell phone cameras are picking up of Batcrap.

great and powerful Turtles Volkswagon airship. What, you guys love the fuck out of Game and Thrones, but know not of Martin's greatest work in Wildcards? Goddamn kids today. Get the fuck off my lawn, fatso.
-
The Blu-Ray for Masters of the Universe is suppose to come out next year. I was just thinking today how cool it would be if they made a short film (10 to 15 minutes) today starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, as a bonus feature on the DVD. Similar to what Marvel is doing now. I know I'm probably the only one who thinks this would be cool... lol.... but I'm a big fan of Dolph as He-Man, and a short film set on Eternia with today's FX would be killer!
-
That what I think it is. EPIC.
-
Maybe it's Hawkeye's jet cycle.
-
Dolph Lundgren looks like a former bodybuilder or wrestler who spent too many of his down years shooting up junk and fucking crack whores. You didn't see the Expendables? He looks like baked dog shit. That's your He-Man? You're welcome to him, dipshit.

Sometimes I secretly wish all comic book movies would bomb for the next couple of years
by Gary Busey's Upper Half
and everyone under the age of 25 would stop going to the movies so the studios would start making real movies again. Not "properties" - good original stories that weren't remakes, reboots, re-imaginings or based on comic books or youth fiction.
-
Dolph Lundgren looked awesome in The Expendables. The only one on this forum who is a dipshit is you.
-
Just reading your past few posts. I see you are just a troll looking for attention, so I won't take your last insult personally.

He's in his mid 50s bitch. You find me someone in his mid 50s who's in that kind of shape, and then we can talk. Sure, he's got a few lines on his face - but I'm sorry to tell you this kids, but that's what happens when you get older.
-
Skrull. Please let it be Skrull.

jackofhearts29, that's the fucking point, nutjob! That's the fucking point right there! You also need a drawing too to understand?
by AsimovLives
-
Easy? It sounds fucking retard, like something out of an ignorant teenager fuck. Buffy Speak is supposed to be funny in it's patheticness, not something one would use officially as a ttile of an article, for instance, like above. It's just stupid and retard.
-
Every time you're about to speak, ask yourself this : have you got something interesting to say about Dolph Lundgren? If the answer is no, don't fucking bother.
-
I would also like to add that I'm getting a feeling that we'll have "mini-sequels" for Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Cap and kinda squashed together... It seems to me that the big hubub is all about that energy cube.. *Yawn*.. a friggin cube and everyone's race to get it? Still better than anything DC movies are doing. Including Dark Knight Rises.
-
If when I'm over 50 I look like this: http://youtu.be/UpM-kzYxrHE I'll buy each and everyone here a round! (Spoiler: never gonna happen.)

Big metal testicles.
-
(forced perspective - thanks Jim Cameron!)
-
If you subtract the words "about Dolph Lundgren" from your post, it's spot on....
-
Thor obviously gets back to Midgard somehow, but how? Bifrost was severed. This may be his "pocket" ship, Skidbladnir.
-
It's from the animated TV show.

Cowboys and aliens and now Avengers. I'm guessing they mill out chunks and stick em together and then take a mold of it.

Yeah i posted my concers re the (what i thought at the time) 150 mil budget.
by dahveed1972
240 mil sounds about right. But it does kinda ratchet up the pressure on Mr. Whedon to produce a bona fide blockbuster. Personally, Id be a nervous wreck. He asked for it though.
-

Googling "Avengers budget" produced a number of these references. Considering that they've been building to this for several years, and that every Marvel film has made money (by the time the international money hits the floor, especially.) Add in the fact that movies make most of their cheddar on DVD these days, and it makes sense that they'd roll the dice. But in all honesty, I haven't seen the paperwork, and am trusting "the usual sources."
-
And she rarely does any research to back up any of her "points". Proven fact. She's really good at making shit up.
-
Aug. 27, 2011, 1:42 a.m. CST
240m? even if that's the real budget (i doubt it),it still doesnt mean that
by KilliK
it will be used for the movie's spectacle. Avatar costed 230m but that was a movie with unknown stars and almost all of its budget was used for the development of new, groundbreaking cgi/3d technologies and ofc for the creation, from absolutely nothing, of an entiral new virtual world with its own virtual inhabitans. Avenger's 240m budget doesnt justify gasoline explosives in a street and cheep replicas from a Flash Gordon movie. And if we take into account that it has 2 movie-stars and 1 movie super-star as the main characters,3-4 actors as secondary characters, who might not be A list but they are also not cheap,a talented but cheap director (because that's why Whedon was hired as a primary reason),then we can conclude two things: 1.half of that budget went for the actors' payments AT LEAST. 2.the other half went for the special effects. But 120m for a full cgi secondary character,a team with 7 super-powered heroes and an entire alien cgi army DOESNT seem to be a lot. Which can only mean this: Either we are going to get an ultra cool final battle in the end of the movie, while the rest of it will be scenes with a lot of boring dialog for 'character development' OR we will get 2-3 cool, but cheap, fights and a few dialog scenes in-bewteen. Personal speculation? Next year TDKR will be the better cool-looking,better created, more popular, more successful and more discussed from the fans event movie, not the Avengers.

I love saying bitchbloom. It's my favorite thing to say today. Bitchbloom! Bitchbloom! Bitchbloom! We can have sex if you're not too fat.

240 mil budget with 120 mil for the actors Pay?? Bullsh!t!!!!
by The Founder
I'd give RDJ 15 mil tops for this role and he's the one that's gonna get the most with Jackson 2nd. RDJ's not a 20 plus mil maker. I don't know where these figures are coming from but they are way off.
-
Aug. 27, 2011, 11:53 a.m. CST
all those who already know it's gonna suck and know the details can ONE OF YOU PLEASE GIVE ME THE POWERBALL NUMBERS FOR NEXR SAT HERE IN Fl. Much appreciated.
by The Founder
-
Aug. 27, 2011, noon CST
RDJ=15 miltops, Jackson=10-12mil, SJ=3-5mil tops, Evans 4-7mil, Hemsworth=2-3mil, Hiddleston=2-3mil, Renner=3-5mil, Ruffalo=3-5mil, Agent Colson=2-3 mil, Colbie Smulders= 1-2mil and far less for the supporting cast.
by The Founder
I'm right and I may be to kind with Evans pay. He probably 5 mil tops too.
-
Truly. Sounds like 90% action and 10% dialogue, character development and interaction. Brilliant. / There's a reason most stories generally follow certain forms, patterns and familiar beats since, you know...time immemorial. <p> Consider the material...this is about SUPER HEROES. Their images will be plastered on fast-food soda cups across the fruited plain. Go watch a Fellini film.
-
...when someone takes an incredible amount of time to post such obvious bullshit. Wow.
-
Aug. 27, 2011, 3:42 p.m. CST
And focusing on the ...''humanity of Tony Stark and Thor, etc.''...
by DoctorWho?
...or any character in any action film is what gives any kind of 'epic battle' it's tension, weight or sense of urgency. Put simply... a reason for the audience to ''give a shit''.<p> I guess you would simply prefer 90 minutes of mindless, CGI, shitfest, video game, action set-pieces. Oh well, whatever floats your boat.<p> But for someone who will ultimately ridicule a bunch of costume wearing, chest bumping, strutting-alpha males in battle scenes... you sure do spend a lot of time bemoaning the assumed lack of screen time they will get. Curious.
-
I wish. I would even tip it to 60/40.<p> But to your point... they say, familiarity breeds contempt.
-
Aug. 27, 2011, 8:25 p.m. CST
Bitchboom certainly spends a lot of time "breaking down" the plot from bits and pieces of a very small and tiny teaser
by D.Vader
Why, that's the kind of minutiae fangeeks usually get all worked up about, analyzing the action frame by frame, writing down the dialogue, trying to decipher WHAT IT ALL MEANS! Hello pot.
-
and take a guess that the people who are speculating about the plot breakdowns have never sold so much as a short story. Never had a television episode produced, never sold a feature film. Nonetheless, they think they know more about writing than people who have done these things successfully. Moreover, and most amusingly, they speculate about a plot, what people will or won't do in a movie, and then attack their own speculations, saying "see? It's gonna suck!" That is the very very definition of a "straw man" argument, and once you get the joke, you'll understand why it's so much fun to hang around here. Of course, if those speculating have ever sold so much as a single short story, I apologize.
