The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day, your butt! Them’s washers!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
As you may have noticed, my D23 coverage has taken the majority of my writing time up, so apologies for missing a day on this column, but to make it up to you, I bring you Ernest Borgnine eating a popsicle on the set of Sam Peckinpah’s The Wild Bunch. All is forgiven, right?
I haven’t hidden my adoration of Borgnine very well, so it’s no surprise that I geeked out when I saw this picture come in, courtesy of a reader calling himself “Japrocket.” You may remember my really fun AICN Legends interview with Ernie Borgnine and if you haven’t read it click here to check it out. The emergency site-redesign mucked up some back-end stuff that has eradicated the sound-o-text clips and screwed with the typeface, but it’s still very readable and one of my favorite interviews I’ve ever done for this site.
So, let’s all bask in the awesomeness that is Mr. Ernest Borgnine, ladies and gentlemen!

Somehow the last thing I'd expect is Popsicles on the Peckinpah set. Whisky? Yes. Mexican whores? Check. But Popsicles? For some reason this makes things more hard ass!

...Any thoughts on coming on down to Atlanta for a few days? Considering he's doing a handful of panels, he'd probably enjoy doing an interview too. I'd *LOVE* to see a thorough discussion of his work.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; Ernest Borgnine is about the only actor who can go from cute and cuddly to sadistic son of a bitch at the flick of a switch. That's acting.

Saw it for $7.99 on Blu at Best Buy. Held it for a minute, but wasn't sure if it was worth the upgrade. PQ/AQ wise.

I really enjoy his charisma and smile on screen. I still love Disney's The Black Hole and have fond memories of Airwolf from during my childhood. This guy is awesome.
