AICN Toys: The Munsters, Justice League: Heroes and Foes, Batman Legacy Wave 2, And More!!
John Ary here with a quick look at a few action figure lines that are making headlines this week...
Mos Eisley - Chalumn's Cantina by Sideshow Collectibles
Finally, my 1/6 scale Han Solo has a suitable place to drink himself silly. Sideshow Collectibles unveiled this new 12-inch Star Wars figure environment based on Tantooine's premiere entertainment establishment. The company hasn’t revealed much about the cantina play set other than the price: $249.99. Here’s what Sideshow had to say about the diorama on it’s production blog.
The Munsters by Art Asylum and Diamond Select Toys
I loved the Munsters growing up as a kid. I especially flipped-out when TBS gave Grandpa his own monster movie show. Maybe that's why I'm excited about this new 7-inch Munster line of figs. Herman, Grandpa and Lily will be available in two different versions: one version at Toys R Us with their signature accessories and a Select version at specialty stores that comes with a bonus accessory - a piece of the family electric chair. Buy all three specialty figs to put this shocking piece of furniture together. Look for both versions of the figures in October.
Justice League: Heroes and Foes by DC Direct
New 7-inch scale versions of the Joker, Batman, Wonder Woman and Flash are on the way. All four figures feature multiple points of articulation, include display bases and accessories. These will release on April 11 of next year.
Batman Legacy Wave 2 Two-packs by Mattel
These 6-inch scale action figures are based on the film The Dark Knight (Batman and Police Honor Guard Joker) and the upcoming game Arkham Asylum (Robin and Joker). Each set will swing into action this October for around $30 a piece.
Doctor Who TARDIS Character Building Set by Underground Toys
Underground Toys takes a page from Lego's playbook by offering Doctor Who fans cute, miniature versions of their favorite characters with pricey play sets made of building blocks. This particular construction set features the TARDIS interior console room and exterior with alien world landscape. The set also includes four Doctor who micro-figures (The Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, Rory Williams and River Song). It will release in November for $85.
And finally, to kickoff the release on Wednesday, August 24 of the new Marvel Select Red Skull from Art Asylum and Diamond Select Toys, here's my early review:

I'M SURPRISED THEY DIDN'T RELEASE POLICE HONOR GUARD JOKER SOONER
by Meadowe
at least in that size. We have the hot toys one and though I love that I would like to get this smaller one too. I just hope that come July 2012 they release some more Heath Ledger Joker scenes on a new blu ray/dvd of The Dark Knight.
-
That's a weird choice for a figure considering this is an in-store toy-line!!! They might as well release the Spasming-on-the-Bed Ledger figure for wave 3.
-
so Harry NEVER reviewed Rise of the Planet of the Apes? Or am I missing something?

abandoned quarry made out of toy bricks?

people are so incensed when Harry doesn't review a movie right away (despite the fact that there are plenty of other writers on this site, usually providing a wide range of viewpoints on the latest releases), that they'll complain about it in the talkbacks for completely unrelated articles. Then if he reviews the movie they complain that his reviews suck, that he loves everything, that he's bought and paid for by the studios. So which is it: you just can't live without knowing what he thinks, or he's a brainless shill with no taste?
-
Really? Do you bother to proof your own writing?

those DC Direct figures are all bad repaints of previous figures
by textual
Note Flash and Bats have no armor, and better pictures of that Wondy show the "pants" are obviously bare legs painted black.
-
I knew Bats and Catwoman were both going to be playable characters in it, Robin is news to me though, I wonder if he'll be playable as well?

Pre-ordering Arkham City from Best Buy gets you an exclusive playable Robin.

@ bass akwards, yes Robin is in Arkham Asylum, but his look/design isnt...
by yamayama
the classic Dick Grayson or Tim Drake look. Hes more of a shaven headed Eminem. But it will it give future movie makers a good prototype suit design for a cinematic Robin in any films that come after the Nolan trilogy.
-
based around the whole Arkham Asylum, Arkham City would be a great way to go if they could pull it off. Somewhere between the Nolan universe and Burtons.

That cantina set is way too expensive, especially if it comes with nothing

I've seen both via Netflix, and the Addams are actually more believable and more likable. They're people you could see spending a congenial afternoon with, and if you didn't care for spider tea, they'd understand. The Addams are eccentric but gracious. The Munsters, on the other hand, are cheezy oafs for the most part - and damn hard to look at. Eecchh.
-
That's the exact same sculpted body they had with the Joker now/Joker in the fifties double pack. The head is slightly modified, but his right hand is clearly sculpted to hold the knife accessory that mine that I'm looking at on my shelf right now does.

You've got AICN all figured out.

what kind of whack is this?
