Beaks here...

Lars Nilsen, programmer extraordinaire for Austin, Texas' Alamo Drafthouse, is dropping by the Cinefamily this weekend to blow your mind with a flourish of indescribably brilliant exploitation movies the likes of which are rarely - if ever - screened.

It's all a part of the 10th Anniversary celebration of Weird Wednesdays, the weekly Drafthouse series dedicated to celebrating all manner of cinematic oddities. If I were to list my reasons for wanting to move to Austin, having constant access to Weird Wednesdays might rank number one. I honestly don't even look at the programming anymore. It's too depressing to see what I'm missing.

So I'm going to take full advantage of Nilsen's presence in Los Angeles this weekend, and I highly recommend that you do the same. The fun starts tomorrow at 6 PM with a "Sex, Drugs and Lite Jazz" quadruple feature of JULIE DARLING (w/ Sybil Danning Q&A), TEEN LUST (w/ director James Hong Q&A), SUPER SOUL BROTHER and the do-not-miss-I-don't-care-if-your-first-child-is-being-born THE BOXER'S OMEN.

Provided you've survived that onslaught, you'll have to come back on Sunday at 4 PM for Sunday Smutty Sunday (co-hosted by Suicide Girls), a delightfully untoward triple-feature consisting of SWINGING CO-EDS, CONFESSIONS OF A YOUNG AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE and WILD PUSSYCAT. Bring someone you're trying to nail.

Finally, on Monday starting at 8 PM, for two yet-to-be-announced Shaw Brothers features, presented one the big screen in magnificent Shawscope!

Details on the films, replete with highly entertaining summaries from Mr. Nilsen, are available at the Cinefamily website. Tickets are $12 apiece for the Saturday and Sunday shows, while Monday is free if you have a current Cinefamily membership.

I've only seen two of these movies, but Nilsen's taste is unimpeachable; I can guarantee that every single selection is fucking amazing. See you there!
