Gerard Butler Kicks Ass For The Lord In MACHINE GUN PREACHER!

Honestly, hadn't heard of this movie until a week or so ago, but it's got a decent pedigree and it looks entertaining. Inspirational films like this will probably be coming more and more and I'd be aurprised if this didn't do well. But could you imagine Jason Statham making a movie like this? He'd proably stab a crucifix into someone's eye. Here's the trailer for MACHINE GUN PREACHER:

it's odd to hear him with a southern accent...some actors it doesn't bother me, but others...I guess he'll always be Hiccup's Dad to me. :)

He's never been able to pull it off. Hell, he couldn't even pull off an English accent in Phantom without a little Scottish brogue leaking through. He just can't pull it off or make it consistent. Just be a goddamned Scot in your movies, man.

Because of Jesus? I dunno. I'm kinda vaguely interested because I can't imagine why anyone would do such a thing. Makes me think of the Book of Mormon actually. I didn't get to see it, but I got the soundtrack. You guys should listen to it if you haven't. Why would there be more inspirational movies coming tho? And wouldn't stabbing someone in the eye with a Crucifix kinda defeat the purpose? btw, the Boromir statue, in the sideshow collectibles ad, is kinda sassy with his hair all blown out like that.

He makes even the sucky films he's in enjoyable, and his performance in Rocknrolla always puts a smile on my face. One of my faves!

A man taking a stand and fighting to reclaim stolen children despite the odds against him, all the while running an orphanage....AND it's about a REAL guy that REALLY does this in REAL life. I did hear the guy on Mancow a few times. They put him over the top in this but still pretty cool. And he's rockin a beard again! He should always have a beard in the movies. His face never looks right w/o one.

I say three, although I'm open to the idea that there could be a few more, depending on whether or not the movie's actual running time is much longer than that two-minute trailer.

Rubbing his knees for Blind Side style Oscar glory. You can smell the desperation. Also, there was an article in The Times about the real Angel - who had a falling out with Butler and was kicked off the set of the movie. Seems like he doesn't think Gerry's hard enough in real life.

That's the first Gerard Butler vehicle I felt the slightest twinge of interest in during the trailer. More disturbing is how many psychos think they have to barf their political agendas all over the talkbacks.

Did that make over 5 mill? Heck, even Kirk Cameron's religious fireman movie made $30 mill. Marketed correctly, Butler could have a huge hit here - conservative audiences love this stuff. A have a movie owner friend in an extremely rural area - Blind Side and Gran Torino were two of his biggest grossers of the past decade. They'll love this film.

Butler Should've Taken Lessons to Hide the Scottish Accent

He tried, he really did, to mute out his natural Scottish accent but in some words and phrases you can hear it in the trailer. James McAvoy in the movie THE CONSPIRATOR hid his accent so well he was a believable American.
