After played a dim police officer named Judy on “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour” (where he served as Steve Martin’s writing partner) and before he starred as Marty Funkhauser on “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Albert Brooks’ brother Bob Einstein appeared as hapless daredevil Super Dave Osbourne on “Bizarre,”
Super Dave was actually introduced on CBS’ 1972 sketch series “The John Byner Comedy Hour.”
Einstein also produced “Bizarre” and appeared as himself. Guest stars included SCTV’s Dave Thomas, SNL’s Victoria Jackson and Howie Mandel.
But it was the Super Dave segments that proved the series’ most popular and most memorable, and led to no fewer than three spin-off series.

Is the DVD art for THE EVENT just old or something? Why the hell did they label it "Season One" as opposed to the more accurate description "The Complete Series"? Anyway, speaking of THE EVENT, I sort of liked the first episode, but unfortunately the show went off the rails almost immediately given that it had waaaaay too many logic lapses that you could drive a truck through. I missed a few episodes towards the end and was wondering if someone could answer two questions for me. I caught the finale and the very last shot showed the President's wife holding their kid, looking up at the alien planet that had just teleported into our solar system. Question 1 -- the driving plot for the second half of the season revolved around the aliens trying to release a bio-weapon that would kill half the planet, so they could "move their people here." That's how it was always explained. But if the "Event" was to LITERALLY bring their whole fucking planet here, did they ever explain why they needed the Earth? Question 2 -- in that final shot with the President's wife, the kid says something like "What's that?" and I thought she answered "Home." So was SHE really an alien too? Because I could've sworn they had given her a blood test and made it clear that she WASN'T an alien. Like I said, I wanted to like the show, but it just got too silly and too ridiculous with the logic lapses and the way characters would act or with subplots that just seemed to come and go at the drop of a hat for no reason at all. Seriously, for a show that clearly wanted to mimic LOST...which would depend on having some very TIGHT writing to keep people interested...it just seemed like THE EVENT was thrown together week to week, where the showrunner or the entire writing staff had NO fucking clue where this show was going.

Hey, let's show 6 contestants but make sure we highlight the winner so they stand out on the cover.

Saw it at Target this week.

Maybe they have found that "Season One" dvds of cancelled shows with no resolution sell better than those that honestly state "Complete Series". What I find funny is the tagline "What will you beLIEve?". Like it's trying to come across as a political thriller full of espionage and red herrings and double-agents. Sure, some characters were double-agents; some stuff was a red herring (although, I believe, more often than not, the red herring was simply a plot point that didn't go anywhere - it was the result of poor writing, not a clever misdirect). Answer 1 - I think their planet was messed up thanks to solar flares or their sun on the verge of going supernova (or whatever the deal was). Although, now that they are away from that sun maybe their planet might begin to become habitable again. So, no, it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. Answer 2 - The President's wife didn't take the blood test. She convinced the President her "secret" was she was an illegal alien, not the extraterrestrial kind.

Amazon has all 6 seasons in 4 sets cheaper separately than the bundled package. $49 for all of them; had stock earlier today.

Any redeeming value at all? ANY?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and answer my questions. Much appreciated. I was thinking of watching the DVD set all the way through, to see what I missed and maybe give the show another chance. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized it would just be a waste of my life force since the show was cancelled -- which means why should I give ANY kind of crap at this point? I was really disappointed in the finale. I realize they were trying to wrap things up for fans of the show, but all things being equal -- as I said in my other post -- it really did seem like the writing staff was on autopilot most of the time and just pounding shit out to grab whatever paychecks they could. Because, man, did that show have red herrings and plot holes galore. Worst of all, they never got Taylor Cole naked enough! Talk about wasting a total hottie!
-
If you don't know the show check it out. It's definitely one of the 3 best 3 current shows if you ask me. Great characters, great storylines and the most evil bitch you will ever see in a tv show, Ally Walker.
-
because I seem to recall the President making reference to "the event". Obviously not THE event that all the hype kept teasing us with; most likely the press conference and the "aliens are among us" revelation. More of a cheat than a clever red-herring. Hey, maybe the special features has more of Taylor Cole.

This is the theme to Gary's Show, the theme to Gary's Show. Gary called me up and asked if I would write his theme song...

It's Gary Shandling show was the Proto-Seinfeld only with the added bonus of breaking the 4th wall.

I picked that one up as soon as I saw the price. I got it for $4.99, not $5.99 though. That shows was the balls.
-
And what deranged mind would buy any reality series on DVD? Ugh.
