Spice and Wolf is a rather distinctive anime series. Set on a medieval Europe-like landscape, it follows the journey merchant Kraft Lawrence and the pagan goddess Holo The Wise Wolf who accompanies him on his travels. Part of the appeal of the anime is certainly watching its wolf girl sprawl, comb her tail and gulp down wine, but this is also a series driven by an exploration of economics. Rather than via spells or swords, the action that moves Spice and Wolf involve currency exchanges, commodities prices and debt swaps.

A new, Blu-ray release of the unique anime's first season is due to be released by FUNimation on August 30th, and, on the same date, a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack of its second season will hit.

The journey through the wild countryside continues for the merchant Lawrence and the untamed harvest goddess, Holo. The companions reap the bounty of an ever-strengthening bond, depending on street smarts and animal instincts to carry them along the last miles of their trip to Holo’s northern home. While the villages along their route offer many opportunities for profit, the road is marked by heretics and shady dealers looking to separate the travelers from their savings – and from each other. With the end of the journey in sight, Lawrence and Holo revel in the riches of the relationship they’ve built – but what truly awaits the simple peddler and the forgotten deity at the end of their winding path?

AICN Anime is fortunate enough to have five Spice and Wolf prize packs from FUNimation in to give way to readers.

Each includes a Spice and Wolf pillow, towel and set of coins.

    Like other good animes

    by adml_shake

the series was never really concluded. I believe the manga was finished up a while back, so I hope we hear about a third season soon. I don't want this to turn into another FMP where were waiting years between season.

    Genderblender, you're right.

    But so is Avatar.

If your point just to constantly state the obvious in hopes that it will spark change, you are basically a streetcorner barker yelling "The End is Near" as the world continues around you.

  • You must actually know about the subject matter that you wish to talk about. You clearly don't. You're the sort who'll judge a book by the cover. How do I know this? Given your statement about Spice & Wolf, a series you haven't watched and couldn't be more laughably wrong about! While there is obvious appeal to using an attractive female main character just like in... oh... EVERYTHING, there is much more to it than you'd imagine, but you'd only know this if you actually saw the show. And I know you are not coming in here to leave funny comments about anime for the lols, because you've been in virtually every talkback pushing the ol' crazy feminist persecuted wankery.

The next thing is not to use trivial shit to back up your statements. You're the sort that looks at a shampoo commercial with a woman with pretty hair (goodness, how could they use a resonably attractive person to visually advertise a product?) and then goes off on a lengthy rampage about how it objectifies women by saying they must have shiny hair and then hilarious read further into it to claim that the little glimpses of back nudity (No shit, we tend to be naked when we have a shower) are exploiting women, or that somehow the soap bubbles and shower are reminiscient of the big bad male cumming over her smiling face (which if you haven't noticed is what all your posts sound like... absurd hilariously over the top extrapolations with are basically meaningless and devoid of any context whatsoever). Basically you're looking at clouds and coming away with things only you are seeing.

Granted there is much media and things that do exploit women and do portray things badly or encourage male delinquincy. If you want a worthy cause you can help rail against the entire Pornography and sex industry for example if you actually gave a damn about women who are really abused and exploited. But you're at a state where you're so distraut you're seeing it everywhere. It doesn't help your cause and makes you a crazy person. And an arrogant one too who takes pride in their ignorance and only likes to run at the mouth to feel important to believe you're actually doing any good. But you are not. You are either emotionally stressed to the point where you cannot think rationally, or just a trolling hypocrite who gets their jollies off on spamming talkbacks at random.

I don't know what happened in your life to make you this way. But it's best you sit down and turn the spotlight onto yourself and revaluate who you are and what you believe and whether the things you believe and the way you live are in fact reality or a distortion of that, whether they are good for you or whether it is actually doing mroe harm than good, before going off about others and seeing things that aren't really there.

    I accidentally clicked this

    by supermarch

Is that a tail coming out of that chick's asshole? Why is at least part of the purpose of anime to show stuff so messed up nobody could possibly shoot it normally? If you compare the two formats that human centipede garbage was like Sesame Street next to Japanese animation.

    @johnno

    lol

That was a whole bunch of boring ass bullshit you just typed there and all you did was validate his claims by becoming overly defensive since it shows those points made were existing fears about yourself and your tastes that you already have locked up in your brain. If you don't think anime paints women as less than human then you are the one who doesn't know what he's talking about. Anime gives weird kids tentacle rape fantasies and the fact that there is even a sub genre of Hentai for those sticky palmed perverts who don't quite get turned on enough by pre pubescent looking half animal women licking each other should be more than enough of an indication that you're into something that belittles women both directly and metaphorically at every opportunity. Enjoy your contest.

    You are right

12year old japanese males who are more mature than 17yr old american boys. I have seen and read more complex and intricate stories in manga and anime than in most "adult" oriented american TV and movies. You just look at the art, label it as childish and move on without even trying to view it with an open mind. It is obvious to me you don't watch a lot of anime either.

    by akaziel

Two things I hate most in this world!

This is fantastic. I want to hold public screenings of this in large theaters. Then halfway through, put heavy bars on the doors and set the whole theater on fire. If we do this in enough cities, it'll make the world a much better place. Yiff in hell.

I opened this expecting some new Lupin, or some old Lupin being released in America. What a let down.
