in interviews like this and elsewhere, Harmon seems to be really really focused on the fan/critical reaction to his shows. Of course you're making your show for an audience, so that's to be expected, and maybe he's just more truthful in discussing that than others, I just generally don't get the sense that other writers /directors/creative types are as preoccupied with it as he seems to be.
That said, whatever he's doing is working, so I can't really begrudge the guy, mostly it just seems like he should give himself a break. Anyone read his recap on the second season over at the AV Club? He's definitely his own toughest critic. -
I love the show and everything, but he comes off REALLY pretentious in just about everything he says. The show is one of the best things on tv right now, but it's still a sitcom... an NBC sitcom... It's not changing lives, let's all just calm down a little.
Casting Omar is probably the coolest thing anyone has ever done, though. I would love to see Michael K Williams in more stuff. -
They were like bad attempts at being funny....while unleashing some bottled up passive aggression towards the show's cast and creators. Something weird going on there.

And Dan Harmon seems to be that kind of over-critical genius type that all the best shows have as showrunner. I'm thinking Milch, Chase, Sorkin, etc
