NBC’s “Awake” pilot is terrific and the best network pilot for the coming season I’ve seen so far. (I’ve seen most of the fall pilots, but notably not Fox’s time-travel series “Terra Nova.”)
Scripted by Kyle Killan (“Lone Star,” “The Beaver”) and starring Jason Isaacs (“Brotherhood” and the “Harry Potter” movies, the midseason drama follows a detective who can’t decide which of the two tragic realities he’s experiencing is real and which is a dream. It’s MUCH better than that simplistic summary implies, full of nuance, emotion and big, interesting ideas.
It screened in its entirety for Comic Con attendees Thursday afternoon, so I thought we’d create a little space in case anyone who saw it might like to chime in via talkback.
