AICN has a CAPTAIN AMERICA screening tonight at Alamo South... interested?
Hey folks, Harry here... finally got everything cleared to announce this screening tomorrow. We're going to be screening a CAPTAIN AMERICA movie that has the Howling Commandos, The Red Skull, Bucky Barnes, a musical USO number and more. Not only that... but every tight lipped closed mouth critic I know that has seen it has been losing their fucking mind for the film! People like Beaks keep saying that they're dying for me to see it - because well, Beaks loves seeing me lose my mind for stuff like this - and I'm pretty friggin primed.
Now due to the late date - we can't do a lot of fun... SO... First come, first served...
TOTALLY FILLED
When Captain America Throws His Mighty Shield, I want to behold that shield & yield!!!
NOW - in the body of the email you must list your name, the names of up to 2 guests and "The Pledge of Allegiance"
Hurry up!
The screening is at 7:30pm at the Alamo Drafthouse South on Wednesday, July 20th! Just 27 hours and 50 minutes from now.
I'll email all the winners tonight!

CAPTAIN AMERICA! Fooled Ya! CHOPPED!!!
-
I don't know if you just want the words "The Pledge of Allegiance" or the actual thing, so I listed both. Hope I get to go. AICN screenings are always a bunch of fun! Thanks, Harry. THE A DOESN'T STAND FOR FRANCE.

Squeee!

I am offically moving to the Austin area. There are too many cool things happening over there, and I can't take it anymore. I will tell the wife that it is a "job change" and a "cost of living" issue, but in reality, it's to watch awesome movies with awesome people. She'll come around...
-
for movies in Austin!!!
-
Hope I get in!

Is anyone honestly going to choose to see this in 3D instead of 2D?
by Simpsonian
If you are I would like to hear why.
-
Because it's being filmed with 3D cameras.
-
I even live close to the alamo south lamar. Hope I got my request in quick enough!!
-
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0458339/technical 2D will definitely be the way to see it if you hate the conversion process, but Captain America is Captain America. I'd see this in anaglyph 3D if I had to.
-
I was thinking of The Amazing Spider-Man when I typed that. Yeah, I will not be seeing Cap in 3D. I've never seen a post-converted 3D movie and I have no plans to. If it's filmed with 3D in mind, though, I'm game.
-
Harry, you know you're going to have to start calling it "Alamo S. Lamar" since there is going to be an actual "Alamo South." I keep seeing you say "Alamo South" and thinking that they've already finished the new one!

Is this the atheist Pledge of Allegiance or the one with God in it?
by Monkeybrains
You know, cause you don't want to offend anyone by mentioning a name that causes so many people to freak out because you're cramming it down their throat and they don't have the ability to move along. <p> What?
-
WANT
-
This is the one I've been waiting for.
-
No reviews posted yet at this site and no reviews listed at rottentomatoes. Three days before release that's never a good sign.
-
But I'll see it three times.
-
I'll bet they wanted the Deathly Hallows mania to subside. Can't wait
-
And my wife would fuck me really good if I could get her in to this. Maybe even during the trailers.
-
kindve a misfire on that huh?
-
So did anyone already get their emails for the invite? I tried 3 hours after it got posted.. but not sure if they have been sent yet.

No reviews = fear of bad reviews from anti patriotic critics
by antonphd
That's my wild stab in the dark as to the moronic reasoning behind pulling a green lantern on reviews for Captain America. They are afraid of critics who will give a bad review because they hate patriotic movies. I write this as a liberal. Critics do bullshit like that. I mean, remember how ebert gave speed 2 a thumbs up and praised the superior acting of the stars. i don't know if he ad a crush on jason patric or what but that review was horseshit.
-
Although hopefully this will be good, clean fun, as expected.
-
Aaaaww, fuck! Now I have to wait one more week for the premiere, here in Hungary. Damn...I wanna be in Austin
-
Roger Ebert gave Speed 2 a thumbs up????? Jesus Christ, that is shocking! What a horrible movie that was
-
Has anyone received their confirmation emails? I sent mine 15 mins after Harry posted this...granted it's possible I still didn't make it but I was wondering if anyone else has received an email yet...
-
for this site. Cause the majority of your readers couldn't give a shit about what's happening at the Alamo.
-
I'm also checking to see if the mails were sent. I shot the message out less than 10 minutes after this was posted, so I thought I was a shoe-in to get in.
-
Did anyone get their emails?? I thought I sent my request within a good time frame..
-
..theres always cowboys vs aliens to look foward to in case this sucks

Joe and Jane Average will... look for the current cookie-cutter rom/com that will make them feel secure about their own disgusting relationship to each other.
by THE_CHOPPAH
gender, you would like to believe that all heterosexuals have disgusting relationships, wouldn't you. that would fit in with pseudo-feminazi ideology. I guess all lesbians have perfect Ward and June Cleaver relationships sans the Ward.

I'm glad. I don't want to be right, i just think marvel would sell their soul to get TDKR numbers at the Box Office.
by Arkhaminmate001
Marvel can't compete with Batman, nor any D.C. character. In fact no other character this side of Harry Potter - also Warner Bros - can compete. TDKR will do the same numbers in 2012 as Harry Potter is taking this year. Spider Man and the Avengers will scrap it out in the few weeks B4 the release of TDKR, but after that.............nothing. C.A. will be the best superhero movie this year, just by default, as all the others were pretty poor. X-Men origins was okay, G.L. was terrible, and Thor was in the middle. marvel and sony will get their movies out before TDKR nukes the box office. If C.A. gets 3 stars or more at Total Film - the best movie reviews IMO - i'll go see it.
-
July 20, 2011, 1:34 p.m. CST
BTW C.A. 54% Harry Potter 95% The limey kid with the glasses TKO round 1. But don't fret he did it to Transformers (34%) too.

Not even Green lantern?! Thor has made more money than Superman Returns internationally. Yes Thor, who has been deemed a second or third rate marvel hero by many here beat the world's most famous superhero. (you will mention the extra 3D money, but people were willing to pay extra. And then there's Superman Returns' budget of $270 million vs Thor's $150 mill). You are right tho, nothing Marvel makes will come close to TDKR, but it will still be awesome.

animals (including humans) that engage in a homosexual coupling increase their lifespans by 22%
by THE_CHOPPAH
LOL! Are there really people studying homosexual coupling of animals. If so, I hope not with federal funds. The Republicans would have a field day with that one. As per your study, the same study said that women married to men have a shorter lifespan than those not married. And that men married to women live longer. Therefore, it is fair to say that it is living with men that reduces life expectancy, so gay men in relationships should have a lower life expectancy than men married to women. Btw, I don't believe a word of this study. Especially, that 22% number. And where are all these gay animals?
