It's too bad Steven Soderbergh is retiring, because he's one of the best directors out there, first off, but even more, he knows how to make a film with multiple plots and characters. CONTAGION seems to show Soderbergh back to big-budgeted, multi-level filmmaking, and thank goodness for that. TRAFFIC dealt with the epidemic of drugs - CONTAGION deals with the real thing. This is Soderbergh making his zombie movie, in a way, and I think the trailer's really effective in showing that primal fear we all share.
There's a brief scene with Matt Damon, dealing with the death of his wife, that just plays perfect as his character reacts in denial, and anger, and it makes the trailer for me. This looks amazing, and I can't wait to see this. Could Soderbergh win another Oscar with this? It certainly could be a possibility:
