Holy crap! Check out the epic teaser poster for The Dark Knight Rises!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here just in from Harry Potter. I have some... thoughts... about that movie, but before I dive into a review I have to share this.

I'm a giant Christopher Nolan Batman Universe fanboy. I love his movies. I hate when they're in production. For whatever reason that's like a call to arms for all the Loki-like mischief-making dicks to send out a ton of bullshit images, photos, "news", etc. This, however, is official and it is what is called "fucking badass" in the higher education circles.

From the official site and pointed out to me by FirstShowing's twitter page, I present to you fine people the first poster for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

Holy shit is that foreboding. I don't think Bruce Wayne's world is peaches and cream in this next one...

I wonder if the studio releasing the teaser one-sheet gives credence to the rumors of the trailer running before Potter. It wasn't on the print I saw tonight (Sherlock 2 was, though).

Do you not see the bat symbol? Just buildings and rocks?

Goldentribe... look at the negative space...

    by bubcus

... you've got your Batman logo right there. This poster is amazing! Well done!

  • TDK was good, it made a lot of money. Inception was good, it made a lot of money. Neither of them was a ten-out-of-ten movie and both were marketed to the point where it was almost like everybody in the western hemisphere knew ahead of time that JFK and Princess Diana had made a porno together and it was coming to a theatre near you on precisely XX-XX-XX. My point is, this seems to assume you/we are going to be so incredibly excited about the prospect of this movie, the mere fact of its existence and incipience, that you/we are going to cream [y]our pants over this image of absolutely nothing. I dislike that. I would like to think Chris Nolan gives me more credit than that, as someone who has enjoyed (if not without reservations) nearly all of his films. I don't mind a tease, but this is almost literally nothing.

  • July 11, 2011, 10:59 p.m. CST

    by Quint

I give you a lot of credit for admitting to have missed the symbol. I respectfully disagree with you on the effectiveness of the poster, though, especially as a tease. This poster has a foreboding tone to it, the world is literally crumbling with the only bright spot being the symbol of the Bat. It says everything to me about the tone of the movie without telling me one damn thing about it. That's a good teaser poster.

Don't kid yourself. Nolan's Batman movies are both fantastic, and this absolutely deserves the hype given his track record. And btw I do think tdk and inception are 10/10 movies.

  • I think Nolan just wanted to have Tom Hardy oiled and buff as I have always suspected that Nolan is a bit faggy given that, until he cast Marion Cotillard, he has hired nothing but fugly bitches like Hillary Swank, Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhaal and Ellen Page.

  • July 11, 2011, 11:13 p.m. CST

why this is a great poster, what it tells us about the film

The Dark Knight poster was the bat symbol seared into a building with flame. The fall of the bat. It was the cause of destruction. The Dark Knight Rises poster is a kintetic bat shape of light moving up while the rest of the world crumbles. Through the crumble rises the bat. A phoenix. Where the last film scarred, the new film will heal. Destruction is the cause of both.

    third films in trilogies

    by mojination

..should try and have the hero rise up again (fuck i hate the word rise) after the turmoil of the middle film. It should feel triumphant and conclusive, and this poster has a bleak feel to it, like the film is going to be this huge uphill battle and an endurance test. not that i'm thinking it's gunna fail, but i just want it to feel a bit easier, and with all the rumours and aesthetics pointing to a fairly heavy flick. let batman kick some ass again and own the night after having to earn it the hard way (he lost his fucking life long girlfriend for christ sake) in the second film.

    Earthquake Storyline?

    by Ed Travis

I can't remember the name of the run of comics where a major earthquake leveled Gotham. But could this indicate that plot line? I've always felt a massive natural disaster would be a worthy story line to rival Ledger's Joker and get The Bat back in good standing in Gotham...

    by Darkefire

But I missed the Bat in the negative space as well until someone pointed it out. The poster just went from "Pretty cool" to "Holy shit, all hail Nolan". Assuming it'll be coming out around this time next year, seeing it in glorious IMAX will make for a hell of a birthday gift.

Joker's role or non role.. His status needs a mention..

    by Weapon M

I know Heath Ledger's Joker wont be back, and no Joker in general, but Joker is too big a villain, too much of a mastermind, too "ahead of the curve" to NOT be mentioned at least once in the film. I mean, if Bane breaks everyone out of Arkham like is rumored, then there's no mention of Joker? Or, if Joker escaped- it would be almost expected, 'cause he has so many people in Gotham police or organized crime in the palm of his hands, and he was a crime boss when he was caught. There has to be a mention that he escaped or maybe got killed or something. Somehow explain his disappearance. Who knows, whatever it is, it needs to be acknowledged. If he escaped leave a Joker card behind. It may not seem to have anything to do with the story but yet it does, cause Arkham never held him for long. He's Batmans greatest nemesis for a reason. He psychologically manipulates one of Arkkams best scientists and turns her into his sidekick Harley Quinn. He's a huge threat even in jail. NOT mentioning the Joker at all, in refference to what happens to him is a big plot hole in my opinion. I know Christopher Nolan knows this. He may not show the Joker but he needs to mention what ends up happening to him or his current status. His capture in Arkham would be a HUGE focus of Commissioner Gordan 'cause from experience they cannot take ANYTHING for granted. Something has to be referenced even if its one or two lines. I hope you guys understand this and I hope that Nolan understands this, because I have a feeling he might miss the boat on this. Can't just forget the Joker and make like he never happened. This is not a Joker fan talking here, this is someone who saw a great movie and doesn't want a huge plot hole to taint a possibly amazing film.

  • July 11, 2011, 11:48 p.m. CST

    That is badass

    by Mattman

I love artistic teaser posters that actually tease. Great symbolism with the buildings crumbling and a bat emblem at the center of it all, opening to the sky. This poster was not farted out like those X-Men First Class posters. The marketing department gave this serious thought, most likely under Nolan's direction.

  • July 11, 2011, 11:48 p.m. CST

    there's nothing here

Seriously you tampon inserting pussies, there's nothing here. NOTHING. you really do gobble up any phlegma that falls from Nolan's crotch onto his bathroom floor. How about wait until we see a trailer instead of this "Inception" knockoff.

With rubble instead of bats. Viva la negative space.

  • July 11, 2011, 11:54 p.m. CST

    by Darkefire

I initially was focused on the rubble and the building walls looking for something obvious (like Batman, hur) and skipped over to the comments before I perused further. For whatever reason, I find it easier to focus on dark shapes than on light ones. In any event, now I can't unsee it.

  • July 11, 2011, 11:55 p.m. CST

    by Mullah Omar

I hope this doesn't mean Nolan is pandering to the 3D crowd.

  • July 12, 2011, 12:06 a.m. CST

just because an image makes use of perspective

    by fat_rancor_keeper

doesn't mean that Nolan is pandering to the 3D crowd. Nolan has spoken on the 3D topic in the past..... In the case of Batman, I view those as iconic, operatic movies, dealing with larger-than-life characters. The intimacy that the 3D parallax illusion imposes isn’t really compatible with that. We are finishing our story on the next Batman, and we want to be consistent to the look of the previous films. There was more of an argument for a film like Inception. Ive seen work in 3D like Avatar that’s exciting. But, for me, what was most exciting about Avatar was the creation of a world, the use of visual effects, motion capture, performance capture, these kinds of things. I don’t think Avatar can be reduced to its 3D component, it had so much more innovation going on that’s extremely exciting. 3D has always been an interesting technical format, a way of showing something to the audience. But you have to look at the story you’re telling: is it right?”

  • July 12, 2011, 12:06 a.m. CST

That's how you do a movie poster folks.

  • July 12, 2011, 12:06 a.m. CST

Technically what this poster does is an example of pareidolia, and there's been interesting studies done on how people really will perceive things differently, kinda like the "is it a vase or a ladies face" test. Interesting how our brains work.

  • July 12, 2011, 12:12 a.m. CST

    by ass clown

Nolan seems way too focused on tying TDKR in with Batman Begins and he seems to be neglecting story elements of The Dark Knight. He continues to talk about bringing the story full circle with The League of Shadows, but he has yet to mention any potential story tie in to the Joker. The Joker terrorized Gotham and took over its crime underworld in a short period of time. The mob would sure as hell be affected as well as the city of Gotham. If Bane truly does break all the inmates from Arkham, the audience deserves an explanation as to the Joker's fate. Personally, I'm already pissed that the Joker has not been recast and included as a major character in this one so I'm really hoping he gets some kind of due. Bane is a weak character and his connection with the League of Shadows does little to excite me. While I expect a decent movie, I'm also anticipating a let down since the 'fun' element brought to TDK by the Joker has now been stripped away. Bane is not a hilarious clown with bad jokes and he's got a real uphill battle to make himself as interesting as Heath's Joker. I just don't see it happening.

  • July 12, 2011, 12:12 a.m. CST

    by Noah Roundey

Does this poster confirm the color palette for the film? Batman Begins = Sepia The Dark Knight = Blue The Dark Knight Rises = Black/White/Gray?

  • July 12, 2011, 12:15 a.m. CST

    by rahtard

Serious plot holes and lapses in logic gets you a 10/10?

  • July 12, 2011, 12:17 a.m. CST

    by Mattman

The Bane pic also had a very muted color palette with a high contrast. I'd certainly be cool with that. This would be one of the first trilogies since the original Star Wars where every movie had a distinctive palette.

  • July 12, 2011, 12:19 a.m. CST

    Does anyone else see this?

    by Zachariah

You KNOW they're into the Viral martketing thing, so there's got to be something going on with this poster. Now I see 2 faces, bother definitely look like the Joker. Possibly an homage to Ledger? 1 is right above the supposed Superman shield, somewhat sideways. Seems to have curly hair, big black eye makeup and a clown smile. The other is far more obvious. Very top right corner, big white face. Almost looks like a direct photo of Ledger in makeup. Same face structure and *feel* he emitted as the character. Now things like this usually come in 3's, but I can't seem to find another. Hmm...

  • July 12, 2011, 12:22 a.m. CST

It reminds me of Crisis on Infinite Earths

    by Boneyard

The white anti-matter eating up all of the buildings in it's wake - that's what this poster looks like to me. It's a compelling image, but it's NOT BATMAN. I would expect this from Transformers, Inception, hell, even the Matrix, but it just doesn't say Batman to me. Howabout a nice big image of Batman looming over Gotham like the cover of Arkham City? Or Batman making out with Catwoman or having his back broken by Bane? THAT would make me want to see the film.

I don't think that's what it is, but it's the far left side, the building directly under the batwing tip. There's a rock falling in front of it that's blurry and whiter than the building, and it looks like its in the shape of the S. Probably 2/3 the way down the poster, at about 7:30. Joker's face is right next to it in the building windows.

definitely has an Inception vibe to it. It's nicely rendered. Nice poster. Definitely has a very dark tone to it. I wonder if that accurately represents the film. No color at all. Black and white. The Dark Knight posters, most of them had some vivid blues.

10/10 for TDK & Inception? Hahaha!

    by imagin78

More like: 7.5/10 - TDK Solid first act. Tremendous second act. Horrible third act. 4/10 - Inception 2-dimensional characters. Non-existent plot. No rooting interest. Meaningless action. I'm not sure if I'm describing Inception or the latest Transformers movie. Couldn't wait for either of them to end.

Yep, 10/10 for Inception and TDK

    by Mattman

Inception was easily my favorite film of last year. Intricately woven and filmed, with superb acting from everyone involved. The characters all felt like real people with full histories. The love story between DiCaprio and Cotillard was one of the most original romances I've seen in a long time. Movies generally don't get much better than that. And, in my opinion, The Dark Knight is the finest movie based on a comic ever made. For its genre, it's a 10/10. I admit, I am a biased Batman fanboy... but that also means I'm even more critical of the films... and for me, TDK was perfection. And before any trolls leap down my throat, as they inevitably will, that doesn't mean I think TDK is on par with The Godfather or Jaws... so fuck off before you start that tired bullshit.

Thoughts from a humble Batman fan...

    by bcom77

Even though this movie has been in production for a while and we've even had an official shot of Bane, it's only after seeing this poster that I'm now feeling it's real... And I love it! I love Nolan's take on Batman so far. The interrogation scene in TDK gave me chills when I saw it (even when the Joker's being beaten to a pulp he still cracks a laugh and says "you have nothing, nothing to threaten me with. Nothing to do with all your strength" classic!) but in both movies so far he still feels like a learning Batman, not quite the fearsome badass he needs to be, and that's fair enough considering it's still early days. I hope with the third movie that, especially being called The Dark Knight Rises, he finally does step up and become THE Batman. I want to feel that by the end of the film, the Batman we see on the screen is the batman we know from the comic books. Calm, confident, calculating and outright intimidating.

I'm not a big fan of Nolan

    by Sanyi

The guy is good I give him that but for example, Inception is a way overrated movie. I'm not say it is bad but overrated, that's for sure. Howewer, I love TDK. More than Inception and more than Prestige (I'm not sure about Memento, I've seen that flick a long time ago), and not because I'm a fanboy or anything. I like the dark tone, the story. Not a flawless film but a great one. So, can't wait for the next one, I'm sure this is gonna be huge. Also, nice poster.

    Faces (minus Rod Stewart)

    by david

A question & a suggestion: 1 - I'm not totally seeing a Joker face in the top right corner. However, there does seem to be a small 'H' crudely fashioned from falling debris in the chin / forehead (see what I mean about not totally buying the face). Anyone else see that? And am I missing some obvious face-ness about the smudge next to the H?? 2 - Above the 2 of '2012' and slightly off to the right is what looks like a profile of a beak-like face. Since we're reading as much as we can into this poster I give you.... Brian Blessed's boss Nabo character from Phantom Menace. "Is 'a lots 'a Gothams gonna die....?"

Inception was a good concept, but the movie made no sense

    by Mel

The idea of using dreams was a cool idea, but the use of dreams was pathetic. Everyone was so aware that they were dreaming, which is obviously impossible. Then you had this whole idea of never waking up, lol...and being in a dream but not knowing it (even though they always seemed to know it when it was convenient to know it). and the overall plot wasnt very interesting. a dream within a dream? really? shouldnt a move establish the science fiction FIRST and then later on try got elaborate on it? instead, we get a brief single dream which makes no sense then shortly after they're talking about a dream within a dream. its the biggest clusterfuck, ever.

    Tut, tut!

    by Mark

First of all, Nolan is a happily married man of 4 kids, and doesn’t warrant the name calling. If you want to see attractive women in a big blockbuster, I suggest you give Michael Douchebag Bay a call? Chris picks his women due to their talent; not because they can bat an eyelid and go home after. And I thought Ellen Page was great in Inception BTW. As for Bane being the worst character, blame Joel Schumacher for that and WB to an extent. As Tom Hardy has already said, forget what you’ve seen before, because Nolan is revisiting that character, HIS way. You should watch Bronson and get an idea of what Bane will be like in TDKR (call it a hunch).

  • July 12, 2011, 6:35 a.m. CST

    by Mark

I think this will end with Bat's back getting broken and WB rebooting the series as Batman Beyond in 2017. As for Bane being the worst character, blame Joel Schumacher for that and WB to an extent. As Tom Hardy has already said, forget what you’ve seen before, because Nolan is revisiting that character, HIS way. You should watch Bronson and get an idea of what Bane will be like in TDKR (call it a hunch).

you guys are looking wayyyyyy to hard into this. superman symbol? jokers face? (that doesn't even look like the Heath joker, mind you, but the classic, long faced Joker)...yeah, no. anything can be turned into an inkblot test. if you look outside your window you can even see faces in the leaves of trees, or in the shadows of a shirt draped over a chair. i seriously doubt you should have to turn a movie poster UPSIDE DOWN to see any of that either. but have fun. whatever gets you psyched for the movie i guess.

  • Every time I hear the word rises, And I know the Al Ghul's are in this, And the poster clearly references No Man's Land, And ya know Bane is gonna hurt Batman in the worst way, I strongly suspect ACT 3 will involve the Lazarus Pools. In Nolan We Trust. Yeah I'm one of those guys. The man has a flawless track record. He gave us a Batman that meant something — at a time when no one, including myself, gave two shits about him anymore. Shumacher butt-raped the franchise and WB filled retail shelves with mountains of merchandise no one wanted. Frankly, it's a miracle Batman became relevant again, much less enjoyable, after such recklessness.

    by aphextwin

Batman on his badpod crashing through a building? Batman standing in front of a large burning building? oh and how about the Inception posters where very little from those was actually seen in the movie? These posters (and it looks like the same graphic team is working on the nolan flicks) are misleading/ deceptive. Not bad

    by MandrakeRoot

It's cool from a design standpoint, but is that really all that exciting? It looks like someone sat down and said "how can I make the bat logo look cool and exciting?" and then just messed around on a computer for a few hours. There's not really enough there to fuel much speculation on the movie itself (not that it really needs it, afterall it IS Batman). I mean that could be a poster for TDK and work just the same. These films are definitely overrated (the Bat films that is...not even gonna get into Inception) but still worth watching. I give Nolan credit for nailing a really excellent tone to the last film. Ledgers iconic performance also helps cloud the flaws of the movie on the initial viewing, but things didn't hold up as well on repeat viewing. The plot makes it often feel like a messy version of Heat. I couldn't even get through Begins, although that was years ago and I've been meaning to give it another shot. Here's hoping this trilogy ends on a high note.

    by brocknroll

It doesn't say "Dark Knight: Rises" on it. It just a poster that shows the Batman and Superman logos, letting people know that both superheroes are coming next Summer of 2012. Yes, of course it's the Superman S shield. If you don't think it is, then you're a stupid idiot.

  • July 12, 2011, 8:38 a.m. CST

Yes, that is the Superman S

    by Jake Pantlin

No doubt about it. Subtle, but it is there. Superman will have nothing to do with the movie though... its just to spike interest with fans since he is producing Superman.

  • It's self immolating. If possible, we will know how many ounces of sparkling water Nolan drinks between takes before this movie comes out. Also, what's the over/under on many hours it will take The Dark Knight Rises to reach #1 of all time on IMDB?

Great tease poster... I feel for Gotham

    by Andrew Coleman

Looks like some bad stuff happens to the city haha. Also why is it now trendy to dislike Inception? People who do this are very simple. So it comes out and Harry writes his review... Almost everyone rags on him for it because of how much they liked the movie... Now that it became a uber hit its suddenly a bad movie? So tired of this. Can you guys stop being so predictable. If people like it... You guys come out and bash it to be against the grain or look "cool"... Problem is you just look like a douche.

  • July 12, 2011, 8:42 a.m. CST

I caught the Easter egg Superman shield too.

    by Orbots Commander

Superman won't be in the movie, but it was likely added to the poster to start the buzz/hype for that particular Nolan produced film.

Quote: ...but my god, some of you people are nothing but ants marching single file. Why? Because we are excited for a film? Or is it because we like a poster that is both clever, simple and foreboding? I guess that goes against your idea of what should be considered "cool" or "inspired", and certainly goes against the grain of what it takes to be a jaded cocksucker, which so many here have certainly nailed the art of. And all those fan-made posters? Yes, let's ram Batman in ALL of them. Because we complain when a poster is nothing but shots of the star, and yet we complain when the poster has a concept...

    by Emperor_was_a_jerk

Batman Begins was a bore to me. Take Batman out of the movie and just put some guy (non-costume wearing superhero) and it's still the same movie. That's what I didn't like about it. TDK was amazing. It is one of the few BluRays that I own. The only problem was that it lacked any joy or wonder. A little heavy handed. Again, a great movie but not really a Batman movie. I am looking forward to Rises because Nolan OS top notch and it should prove to be a great movie. I am looking forward to the future of Batman movies and hope they steps little bit closer to the world of fantasy and comic books to make them a little more fun.

    by ewokstew

And it's not the mind playing tricks. Once you see it, you can see it was intended. It'd be nice if we got a similar nod in the movie as well towards Superman.

  • July 12, 2011, 11:01 a.m. CST

    by Johnno

That's not the Superman Logo! It's OBVIOUSLY the WHITE LANTERN RING!!! Batman and the League of Shadows are fighting for control of it!!! It's what's causing the buildings to get sucked into that white light! At the end of the movie, Batman will join the Lantern Corps and protect Gotham and the universe from space!!! I figured all of this out from the teaser poster! That's why it's so brilliantly designed, it gives EVERYTHING away!!! There's no need to even watch the movie now!

This poster reminds me of this fan video:

by THE_CHOPPAH I'd pay triple to watch this movie.

  • ... with black space emphasized. The poster designers are sending the subliminal message of SEX to the audience. Then notice how the 'tail' of the bat splits the building with some light from the sky, like it's a vagina. They are planting the thought of animal rape from CAT PEOPLE to cash in on that built in audience of horror fans. Very clever.

  • from the top, forth window from the right, you can see,not very clearly but it is there,HARRY TAKING A A SHIT.

  • July 12, 2011, 11:55 a.m. CST

But I still think the Muppets poster is far superior

Notice how the M in Muppets is right above Janice and she's reaching for an amphibian shaft . The poster designers are sending the subliminal message of SEX to the audience. Then notice how Animal is just above and lunging at the viewer inviting him to join him in his excitement. They are planting the thought of RAPE to cash in on that built in audience of Muppet fans. Very clever. Look at Miss Piggy's right hand....the one on the bottom right of the poster See how she's holding it. Guess what that is supposed to look like. Yeah, you guessed it. She's about to disrobe. And they put a pin right at her breastline to entice you to look at her tits. See, they can show her cleavage but not her pussy. If you look at her crotch....she has a hand going up there and when it moves, her mouth and body became active..Miss Piggy is controlled only when things are inserted into her. The poster is claiming this is acceptable in today's society. And Fozzie, the bear, usually a tame and submissive role in the homosexual underworld, finally accepts the aggressor role and take Scooter from behind. They both seem to be okay with that switch-up. Of course up top, Statler and Waldorf show disapproval, like the conservative bitches they are, unwavering in their hatred and fearful of change. Look at Gonzo--his nose has always resembled a question mark, which makes you think of his orientation. Gonzo is also giving the interntaional sign of the SHOCKER, indicating he knows how to take care of the ladies. But his attire, way too metero, quickly negates that. The brilliance of this poster is it caters to both sides of the audience. Damaged chicks who want to feel empowered will look at Fozzie and say they want to see this and be just like him. Guys who want to dominate a chick like that will see Miss Piggy with an arm shoved up her like she's his property, and subliminally know her pussy is in his hands and they will want to see this. Plus the black piano player is relegated to top right corner. This poster is a masterful in how it controls the audience.

You silly girl. Movie posters, in general, have been horrific in recent years... I'll concede that point. But I can't believe you guys are geeking out over this drabe, colorless, emotionless, meaningless dreck. The Thing prequel poster is 10x better (the blurry version was 100x better) then this thing... and The Thing will most likely be a turd of a movie. Sorry, I'm just not excited about your Inception meets Batman poster, which is filled with nothing but crumbling buildings. Ohhhh --- Batman's world is coming apart/falling down on him how forebooooding. For fuck's sake. I'll give you this... its better then the BB poster of Batman flying, or TDK's image of batman stunt-jumping on the motorcycle... lmao. I haven't seen the fan-made posters, but they can't be any worse then those. That is all... I just don't have the energy for in-depth discussion on this topic.

invisible superman logo's? this is some dumb shit

  • July 12, 2011, 11:58 a.m. CST

Look at the Batman symbol's 'tail' again.

See how it's extended. Guess what that is supposed to look like. Yeah, you guessed it. It's Selina Kyle's pussy. See, pussy ... cat ... Catwoman. If you look at the 'tail' ... in conjunction with the part of the building on the right, it forms a question mark ... the question mark also points to the left...and there you see the Superman 'S' planting the subliminal image of Selina's pussy in the audience's mind. It also symbolizes how Batman/Bruce Wayne holds her pussy in his hands, that he is the real 'Superman.' The brilliance of this poster is it caters to both sides of the audience. Damaged chicks who want to feel empowered will think of Selina and say they want to see this and be just like her. Guys who want to dominate a chick like that will see that Bat insignia as a symbol of Batman's dominance, and subliminally know his 'tail,' i.e., penis is bringing the light of justice to her dark pussy, and they will want to see this. This poster is a masterful in how it controls the audience.

This one is a pirate novel. Historical fiction. I wrote it five years ago and then let it sit. I recently dug it out and started cleaning it up... which proved to be a very lengthy process. I have done a few short fantasy stories that all take place within the same universe, and have a much bigger novel on the way, after this one. One of those short stories is currently on Amazon for Kindle: Liar's Myriad. That's great about your friend. I love that e-readers have given indie authors a voice. The publishing process is just too damn arduous. It looks like things are changing drastically now.

Dammit, you pointed out the one character who actually wasn't all that well fleshed out. Although, I don't think she really needed to be. As you said, she exists mainly for exposition. She's a conduit for the audience. I liked her for that reason, but I could see how it would annoy some. I do love the romance between DiCaprio and Cotillard though. It's wonderfully disturbing and touching. I also really dug the team, specifically Joseph Gordon Levitt and Tom Hardy.

Not really saying that. But what I am saying is this- Micheal Bay is first person lucky enough to shoot with the new 3D camera that will be used on Avatar 2. And he was lucky enough to have an unlimited budget and a 3 hour movie that lends itself to a 3D motion ride experience better than any other property currently around. The bottom line is this. Transformers 3D IMAX is technically the most sophisticated thing ever created in the history of motion pictures. It is the biggest effects movie in history. It out-titanics. It out-avatars. If you haven't seen this thing yet in IMAX 3D then you haven't seen the best 3D motion themepark ride ever done. That said.. Bay treats objects like women, man.

    by Billy_D_Williams

love the poster. Begins was decent, TDK was pretty good though the holes were inexcusable...i've already listed them in another talkback so i wont bother here. basically Nolan showed great promise with Memento, but he has yet to make a movie even approaching that level of brilliance (No, Inception didn't quite make it, too many problems), yet he's lauded as some savior of cinema...laughable. he's only so propular because he's attached himself to geek properties like Batman and Superman...even a mediocre director can become legendary for doing that...not saying he's mediocre, but he's ridiculously overrated after failing to deliver on the promise of Memento.
