Go to hell for tricking me into watching that trailer. I seriously thought you were recommending something there. Hope you got a good laugh out of this (why is it even posted as "cool news"?) They showed Just Go With It on a ferry-ride last week and even subtitled and without the sound it was almost unbearable. The only thing to get a laugh from me was a certain coconut. Actually it was more of a chuckle.

With that and the incessant casting of hot, much-younger actresses to play his girlfriend/wife (who still manages to look like slender supermodel despite spitting out two or three kids), it's a pretty big indication of the size of Sandler's ego. Thye reason The 40 Year Old Virgin was funny was because we could relate to all ofr the leading characters, who were ordinary-looking workaday schmoes. Steve Carell didn't end up with Elizabeth Banks, he ended up with Catherine Keener (who is attractive, but not "supermodel hot" like all of Sandler's love interests are). I guess the old saying "write what you know" applies...

Poor Pacino, I really miss him AND De Niro. They have both become old and senile, and will act in ANYTHING now days. You'd think that their "handlers" would have more respect for them than to allow them to be in puke like this. Saw a screen grab at another site so I knew what this shit movie was about, and wanted to see if Beaks was making some sort of joke in the headline. Guess not. So sad that we have no great comedians today. Bill Murray only makes indie dramas that you have to force yourself to see (awesome cameo in Zombieland excluded), Dan Akroyd was abducted by aliens, never to return... Chris Farley, John Candy gone too damn soon... Eddie Murphy and Adam Sandler apparently drank the same 'family movie faggot' kool-aid, Jim Carrey was never quite great, but took a giant nose-dive after Dumb & Dumber... Is Steve Martin still alive or did he kill himself due to shame after Sgt. Bilko (I know, he did Shopgirl, Cheaper by the Dozen and Pink Panther... great). The list goes on and on. All we're left with is Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill (fucking seriously?), and....... Who else? Steve Carrell? Michael Cera? Fucking please. It's a shame really.

I think from CLICK onwards, he's been rich in his movies (exception is Chuck & Larry I can think of)....makes it less relatable as you said. Films now also follow the formula of being rich, having a hot wife, & annoying kids. ANYTIME children are thrown into the mix in comedies, things begin to go south. They're simply not funny...

A friend got screening passes to this and I saw it with out knowning anything about it. It was like the punchline to a bad joke. you wont believe how bad it is It was painful to get through the whole thing. I laughed like 3 times and the full audience I was with didn't laugh much either. My other friends we encouraged to bring their kids for a earlier screening so I think they are trying to figure out to aim for pg or pg-13. We compared the movie afterward and it was just a few scenes cut out of the more adult version. Worst movie I've seen in the theater since Jonah Hex last year.

I may get tired of Harry's reviews, which tend to exult in wide-eyed hyperbole too much for my taste, but for the most part the staff and most of the people who bother to post seem like true movie lovers. They pan the truly crappy mainstream movies and gravitate towards films that, if they don't break new ground, try to entertain us in style. They hate on Bay and love Darabont. They'll debate Kurusawa and Kubrick. They'll talk about practical vs CGI until they're blue in the face. And they'd rather take a brick to the baby makers than sit through Adam Sandler lisping and mugging his way through a childish movie. It makes one proud to be a geek, though I'd have to admit that I lack the love of comics to be one of the true believers.

I remember in the 80s, when even small crap films would have original soundtrack music. ELO's "All Over The World" was used in Grown Ups. I think it's a combination of a lack of current songs not clicking with the mainstream, plus the laziness of filmmakers that leaves us in the situation where we are today.

So he went with a goofy premise and it didn't pan out. Maybe he can turn it around and make a decent movie next time around. His last two movies were still commercial successes, I believe. I doubt he gives a fuck what some of you internet trolls think about him. They seemed more family oriented. This one was a return to the teenage comedy, and it's a stinker.

While watching the episode of Southpark where Stan hates everything and they made fun of the Jim Carrey movie with penguins, I seriously thought it was a dumb made up movie. Also the Kevin James eye rape Zookeeper. I serioulsy thought SP was doing the fake movies to make a point. How surprised I was to find out they are real. Ugh.

Seems a bit extreme. I mean, come on, look at half of the user's nicks, and most of the other comments and tell me why that particular word, used entirely within reasonable context, was so wrong.

THat cunt Sandler lost me with "Big Daddy." I have enjoyed, "Happy Gilmore," "Billy Madison", Click and FUnny people, but the rest are painful, unfunny trash. The only other person who is worse than Sandler is Chris Rock and the only one worse than him is David Spade.
