UPDATE: Kevin James as been cast as Frank (Frankenstein), with Fran Drescher as his Bride. David Spade plays Quasimodo, Cee Lo Green plays Murray the Mummy, and Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon are cast as a werewolf couple. Finally, Andy Samberg is cast as Jonathan, who falls in love with Dracula's daughter Mavis.

Ordinarily, the idea of Adam Sandler playing Count Dracula in a family animated comedy would give me pause. It sounds nightmarish. But there's a pretty damn good animated director at the helm of HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA, for Sony Animation - Genndy Tartakovsky, of SAMURAI JACK, DEXTER'S LABORATORY, and STAR WARS: CLONE WARS. The premise, which may have changed now with Tartakovsky as director, is that all the great monsters of old - Dracula, the Wolfman, the Mummy, Frankenstein's Monster - are staying at the monster resort Hotel Transylvania because they are no longer relevant in the 21st century. But a new generation of monster hunters brings them back into play.
I love Tartakovsky's work thus far - he has a kinetic animation style and his shows are a lot of fun. Let's hope he brings that sense of fun to this project. I'd be real curious to know what the other voices would be. I'm sure they may go the comedy route with the other monsters, but I hope they go for good character voices first, and comedy second.
