Colin Firth and Scarlett Johannson on Danny Boyle's shortlist for TRANCE?
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. We've been hearing a lot about Danny Boyle's next film, Trance, recently when James McAvoy joined in and it was rumored he was replacing his First Class co-star Michael Fassbender, which wasn't the case. He was playing another character.
Now it seems that Fassbender is having to walk due to scheduling conflicts and our pals at Twitch say that Colin Firth is on the top of Boyle's shortlist to replace him.
Twitch also says that Scarlett Johansson tops a list that also contains Zoe Saldana and Melanie Thierry for another role in the heist film about an art thief who takes a blow to the head and suffers insomnia. The problem is that he was the only one who knows the location of the painting he and his gang just stole. They suspect he may be up to something tricksy and hire a hypnotist to try to recover the location of the painting.
Whatever happens, I'm sure Boyle will end up with a great cast and make a great movie. He's on quite the run right now, no?

he is britain's greatest living modern director, I was blown out of my cinema seat by shallow grave. trainspotting contains some of the best scenes in modern british cinema. Cameron diaz naked in a towel is the highlight of a life less ordinary. I loved slumdog millionaire. danny boyles masterpiece. As far as his british work goes. one film for me and this is only my opinion stands heads and shoulders above any other british film in recent times and that is 28 days later. sunshine is the only boyle film that I was really disappointed by.

The sequel to Trainspotting is called 'Porno' As far as I know, all of the actors and Danny Boyle have agreed to make the movie. It takes place about 10 years after the first story, so they were waiting for the actors to age a bit...

It is insane that 127 Hours did not win the Oscar. None of the other nominees even come close. I wasn't even a big fan of Slumdog Millionaire and I feel like the academy gave the award to The King's Speech just cuz it won in 2009. It's just some crummy award but it sucks that the best film doesn't actually win it.

See, that is genius. His amnesia is so severe that he can't even remember the name of the condition he's suffering from. That's when you know someone's **really** got amnesia. Either that, or he can't remember the location of the painting because he can't concentrate due to lack of sleep.

was wonderful, refreshing, tense, and quite brilliant right until the (yes I know it's common to moan about it) last 20 minutes or so. Completely undid everything the movie had worked towards before that.

If he can't find the painting because of insomnia, then the painting must be hidden in his dreams. I suggest Margaret Atwood, she can cure insomnia.

Yeah like hurtlockers best picture oscar. I thought district 9 was the better film. Saw hurtlocker once and have no desire to re-watch.

Ohhhh man screw that! Come Michael Fassbender what are you thinking? This was a chance to work with Dannyboyle. That other project better be worth it, for I have HIGH hopes for you, ever since 300. Sure it took alot longer then Expected but hey your the man. Just dont over dose or get burnt on American Directors. Wait, you know what I mean cause you were the best part of that crappy Jona Hex. But I think you have open table now on work you can choice instead of take. ;)

I also cite it as proof Chris Evans can act. Sunshine is one of my top ten films, just love that movie. However, this new Boyle film makes me cringe when I see the cast. SJ annoys the shit out of me and she ruins almost everything I see her in, the exception was "The Prestige" and that's more proof Nolan is a God. Maybe Boyle can pull off the same magic trick and make SJ's annoyances disappear?

A remarkable sci-fi film with a very fresh premise and setting, and more remarkable imagery than any single film has a right to possess. I hope Danny Boyle returns to sci-fi someday.

or third acts. Possibly more of an issue with Garland. The Beach, 28 Days Later and Sunshine all fall apart towards the finale. I love Sunshine, I just don't see the need for the whole Pinbacker storyline.

they've baffled me in some of his movies. It's like he and Garland go "what's the weirdest 270-degree turn we could make for a third act to keep people on their toes?" I loved Sunshine and 28 Days until that last wacko act, but in repeated viewings I tend to enjoy them more since I know what's coming.

Gleeson's death and the introduction of Chris Eccleston, then turn the film off, you've got the definitive survival horror. I love the film but get frustrated that Eccleston - one of the best actors working today - signals the beginning of the end for the story. Acting is stellar and the character is great, but they're just not served well by the story. I'd love to have it turn into a NOTLD siege film for the last third, and through no fault of their own - it was always kind of a gyp that they died cause they were all a bit freaked out and horny. Just didn't work.<P> What's weird is that you can always pinpoint exactly where in his Garland movies the wheels come off. In The Beach, it is where Richard moves out on his own and starts going 'crazy'; in Sunshine it is just after Searle's death and the airlock jump, when Pinbacker starts running about.
