Theatrical Trailer For CAPTAIN AMERICA Is Shield-Slingin' Perfection!
Beaks here...
I've been sold on Joe Johnston's CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER since the Super Bowl teaser, but this new trailer makes me think this could be the best Marvel Studios movie yet. The moment with the grenade... love it.
See for yourself...
Now all that's left is to see the damn movie! If this isn't my favorite studio release of the summer, I'll be shocked.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER hits theaters July 22nd, 2011.

-
Yes, the grenade scene was amazing! Loved the new footage of the hydra.. Cant wait!
-
Love the shots of skinny Steve.
-
but will it be as good as The Rocketeer?
-
That grenade scene got me all misty eyed. Great scene!!!
-
OK, now this trailer fucking rocks...and I cannot wait for this movie. Two Marvel previews have used Tool music now, they got good taste!
-
God that would be awesome! But Beaks, do you honestly think it can top Xmen: First class, or Spidey 2 for that matter? I dont. But I am an optimist, so I am staying positive regardless!
-
was badass....THAT is Captain America, THAT is what American soldiers are made of....fuck al-quaeda...fuck them up their stupid asses...
-
I'm trying not to get too excited for this but....damn
-
That would be hilarious if it weren't so creepy and disturbing.
-
This trailer looks a lot less appealing then the last one.
-
Never thought I'd hear one of my favorite songs (by my favorite band) in a Captain America trailer. Stupid as it may, I'm actually more interested in this now.
-
That looks fucking amazing!
-
Cap looks good, especially that last shot with him tossing the shield. Can't wait. C'mon Joe, get with Disney and find Bill and Jen and do the sequel. You know you wanna!
-
am i to believe that the super soldier serum magically hemmed his pants to fit his newly enhanced body. this is more implausible than the hulk!
-
as much of a Tool/APC fan as I am, I can't stand "rock music" in movie trailers. Just makes it seem like they're marketing it solely to the Mountain Dew-swilling, Halo-playing crowd.
-
Damn right. Comin' again to save the muthafuckin' day, yeah.
-
I'm really psyched for this!
-
That's part of the crowd that has disposable income in hand.
The trailer looks amazing.
And to think that DC/Warner is still force feeding us that Green Lantern is the new Star Wars. Oh my sides. -
Really? You guys are AMAZED by the grenade scene? Hyperbole much?
-
Neither if those movies you mentioned are Marvel studios movies. X-men is fox and spiderman is Sony. Marvel studios would be iron man, Thor, incredible hulk etc.
That trailer is flat out incredible though. -
I don't understand the love for this trailer. The song was terrible -- not at all what I want to hear in a Captain America trailer (or ever, really). The editing was pretty awful as well, and I don't like the cinematography at all. Everything looks all frosty and fake. It looks like one long, expensive yearbook photo. Joe Johnston is a studio whore director. I like The Rocketeer as much as the next guy, but the man can't direct himself out of a paper bag.

I never thought Tool's Forty-six & Two would be great music a comic book movie until now.
by stereotypical evil archer
Tool; one of the all time great rock bands. I see them on every North American tour. Everyone should see them at least once.
Epic music, epic musicians.
Captain America has summoned Tool; this movie has a lot to live up to. -
A is for America! FUCK YEAH!
Is it wrong that I feel a little tingly in my netherparts?
-
Jun 23, 2011 8:10:04 PM CDT
Hope they don't show that trailer (in theatres) outside of the US
by attackingclone
"Heroes are made in America" *wank wank*
I'm Australian and am totally up for this film. I love the idea of a good man who is given this gift. He didn't jump on the grenade because "that's what American soldiers do", he did it coz he's a selfless man. I don't know the comics but I feel he should just represent what is good in people.... not what Americans think they are.
-
Hells yeah!
-
Joe Johnston and Adam Jones of Tool both worked on Jurassic Park together.
So I have quite the feeling, there's your connection.
Trailer looks solid. Comic Hero + WWII = Instant Classic -
Another scene that I'm looking forward to is when CA apparently runs off and rescues a group of POWs. They think he died in the mission and are writing his KIA letter when he comes walking into camp with the crowd of POWs following him.
-
After a so-so Thor and fucking shitty Green Lantern this better work.
-

Im betting real "Red Skull" will be in the last 10 min of the movie
by sunwukong86
It will be "Johann Schmidt" for most of the movie. Im betting on that
-
iwantmorelifefather -- That'd be great.
sunwukong86 -- I'll take the bet. -
You guys are nothing if not predictable.
-
Goddamn AICN, get your FUCKING ACT TOGETHER.
-
If I can say this ignoring all political / global aspects of that stuff, I wouldn't begrudge Australians making a movie suggesting Australian soldiers are heroic. Sure, it's a little propaganda feeling, but I have no problem with the pride any country can have in soldiers, especially with what they all did during World War II.
Not to mention, that's exactly the kind of thing that would be said back in WWII. -
Jun 23, 2011 8:16:27 PM CDT
I also like how command at first thinks of him as a gimmick.
by larryknowles
They don't trust him with any real missions and he has to prove his worth.
Also, the junior novelization had the pictures of his USO uniform - looks cheesy as hell (just like the original comic). Very creative way to highlight difference between comic book costumes and what works on film. All in the context of events that push the story forward. Excellent. -
There's not a damn thing wrong with having an American hero and standing behind it. Hell, I think we need a little more patriotism in this country. Being proud of being who you are instead of frickin apologizing all the time. GI Joe, an international team... Bullshit! GI Joe used to be a REAL American hero, not he's got to get the blessing of the foreign box office dollar.
I'm not talking redneck, Coors Light, monster truck patriotism. I'm talking standing tall, doing what's right and watching out for your fellow man and knowing that's what it takes to be a real American.
Sorry, I just feel all red, white and blue inside right now. -
I would say that they definitely will not include those lines in the foreign trailers. But, personally, I think they could get away with it more because is IS set in WWII. An era where the rest of the world was more willing to look positively at the U.S.
-
would make this the greatest comic book movie in history. 46 & 2 bitches!
-
The previous traulers had me curious to see the movie, but still skeptical. This one makes me expect the movie to thrill me and excite me.
It remains to be seen if the movie can deliver. -
The movie looks like crap and then the studio releases another trailer... this one showing more action and then the people on this board act like they were just fucked by a real live woman and are all misty eyed and orgasmic.
Damn, some people were born to follow I guess... Seriously, 2 words "Green Lantern" or are ya'll a bunch of forgetful lemmings??? -

I'm still predicting no more than 44% on the Tomatometer. C.A will be depicted much better in the Avengers IMO.
-
Hydra really IS a Nazi group here

Logan showed up in first class, will he show up in here?

What's with the resentment?
Anyway, I never say a bad thing about Australians, but to be shitted on by anyone outside of this great nation isn't fair. Hate the fuckers running the show, not the people who have to put up with them.
I can't wait to see this movie! Looks like good ol' summer fun. It's going to premier while the Con is running full bore in my town, so I'm going to check this out as soon as I get out of the exhibit hall.
-
46&2 caught me by surprise. This movie just got a whole lot cooler.
-
Why? I mean, the comic came out in frigging 1941 -- and he had that costume.
-
I have no problem with the idea of the movie itself being a bit USA rah rah rah, just that line from the trailer I can see getting huge groans from a non-american audience. HEROES......ARE MADE.....IN AMERICA, uhh heroes come from all over the world.
Anyway, movie looks awesome, can't wait to see it. -
Captain, you and I are much alike.
-
Captain America blah. You think you're so hot, well check out CAPTAIN AUSTRALIA!!!!!!http://www.captainaustralia.net/

-
fucking awesome song choice for the trailer, thats all i can say
-
Yea I hear what your saying with the whole studio differences etc.... I suppose your right if you wanna get technical... But Im not sure Beaks intended to say what your implying... Maybe he can clear that up for us...Either way, no big deal. This movie looks amazing no matter how high on the shelf you put it

Someone who jumps on a grenade to save a bunch of grunts is either crazy or stupid
by bobo_vision
There's going to be a gazillion Captain America alternate ending videos on Youtube where the movie ends with him blowing up from that grenade.
-
Jun 23, 2011 8:50:46 PM CDT
And those grunts were all far away enough that the grenade wouldn't have harmed them....much....making his actions even dumber
by bobo_vision
-
why does every Marvel super hero now need interchangeable personalities. I don't even like Nolan Batman but at least he doesn't make corny jokes all the time.
-
Jun 23, 2011 8:54:06 PM CDT
We get it. You guys like Tool, and were clever enough to spot it in a trailer. Congratulations.
by nico_laos
-
The brief shot of him at the end of the trailer ogling the rack on Cap's girl left me wanting more!
-
Jun 23, 2011 8:58:55 PM CDT
The grenade scene was amazing, but surprising moments of awesome like that should be
by theendispie
revealed in the theater not the freaking trailer.
-
Pervs staring at tits often leave me wanting more too.
-
so far the best superhero movie of the year... though I think cap might have a chance of matching or beating it after seeing this trailer. Just needs a damn good score and a wolverine cameo and I'm going to have to wash my pants afterwards.
-
The X-Men films clearly don't fit into the continuity of the Avengers films. I thought this was obvious.
-
Heros are made in America? Who in Hollywood has balls like that, these days? I'm seeing it as soon as I can.
-
http://media.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/latestc-ap_0009_Layer-42.png --- First, Jennifer Connelly in the Rocketeer, and now this. You may not be the world's greatest director, Joe, but you're a great man.
-
You don't like Marvel's wisecracking superheroes, and you also don't like Nolan's serious Batman... so what do you want exactly?
-

This movie could be great if he did NOT wear the uniform
by shiftyeyeddog
I know the comic purists will flame me and freak out, but seriously....
The movie looks good. The story looks good. The characters are good. But the costume?? It immediately destroys the tone and credibility of the film. Give him the shield, but let him stay out of the red, white, and blue halloween costume.
I know it will never happen, which is a shame, because the movie woudl be 1000% better without it. -
doesn't quite sit well in todays age. It kinda makes me feel a little uneasy and cringy!
-
X-Men films still fall under Fox. They still have the rights, not Marvel. Same with Spider-Man at Sony. So Marvel films can't include any of the characters (much less with the same actor) from X-Men.
-
Hell, the song is about genetic engineering to become "superhuman." Think of it as a Cap's musical score to Stark's AC/DC tracks.
-
Not only does this look like a great movie but this trailer finally shows that they "get" Captain America. It's not "gunghoism and patriotism" it's that Cap is a good person and a hero regardless of the shield and super soldier formula. Can't wait!

I'm predicting this will be one of the best comic book movies ever.
by ash talon
I'm not in love with any comic book movies. They're all too flawed for me to absolutely love any of them. They always miss having a good central theme that carries through the entire film. Or their villain isn't strongly enough linked to the hero (thematically) for there to be a credible conflict. Iron Man came closest on the latter matter.
That said, I have a feeling Cap will surprise a lot of people. I wore a Cap shirt this last weekend, and at least half a dozen people told me they couldn't wait to see the movie. By comparison, none of these people had seen Thor.
Everything about this film looks great. Everything. I'm trying not to become too optimistic. However, this trailer is amazing. -
You are 100% right about that. 'merica needs to wake the FUCK up!!!!!!!!
-
the goddamn rockin guitar music! ugghh this is iron man style, put in a effing rock rock rockin soundtrack to make it seem cool when in actuality it makes it as un cool as possible.
daft punks orchestral tron score or the inception trailer music or some john willams rip off wouldve been leagues better.
this takes place in the 40's, "rock" in totally inappropriate for this, even if its just in the trailer.
sweeping intense music...sigh. ill have to edit it in on FCP and see how it looks then.
as everyone said marvel is really doin well with their adaptations...something like TEN characters and only ghost rider and daredevil and the punisher were super lame, with green lantern sucking methinks DC wont even bother.
maybe marvels silver age is just easier to adapt than golden age heroes, though technically cap is a golden age hero
but he is a normal guy and through a sci fi somewhat grounded origin is easier to adapt than say "wonder woman" DC's hero's have always just seemed a little lame..aquaman hawkman, booster gold, blue beetle etc etc.
i think jack and stan just created more cinematically believeable or for lack of a better word "cooler" heros.
though im totally amazed THOR worked and this looks like its going to as well, seeing as cap and thor seem like some of the more difficult characters to make work, whereas wolverine is a cinch. -

Some of the revisioning may not meet with my approval, though.
-
i agree with you 100%, im an american so please excuse the idiotic people mentioning al qaeda and saying that american soldiers are like cap, theyre not.
cap is supposed to be an exceptional HUMAN, regardless of his country, yes he's captain AMERICA but he isnt a tool of the gov/corporations that greedily run this country, in the comics he's opposed the gov plenty.
TOOL sucks for this trailer, but not for the trenchcoat goatee wearing comic book crowd or hillbillys that get all patriotic.
99% of talkbackers make me embarrased to be american, in fact 99% of our population makes me embarrassed to be american, and 99% of the human species makes me embarrased to be human, so take that as you will.
gandhi is a hero and im pretty sure he wasnt made in america. -
The man knows how to do period pieces. The Rocketeer is one of my all time favorites, now with what I've seen of this latest Cap trailer, July 22nd can't come fast enough! I think King Kirby would be proud!

How do the X-Men films NOT fit into the continuity of the Avengers films?
by d.vader
Which, clearly, there have been none yet made?
-
I know they played it off as comedy, but I wish I hadn't seen that. I feel like that moment is gonna be sufficiently more emotional in the film and I kind of wish I could have seen that part blind.
-
I just knew that the man who gave us The Rocketeer was the right man to bring the Star-Spangled Avenger to the big screen! Everything and everyone looks great, and I am excited beyond words! Move over, Indiana Jones, because they've finally made a real Captain America movie!
-
Love the shield toss and I'm not even a huge Cap fan.

Well said. I think it's said that these days being a patriot and being a racist, ignorant fuck are considered to be the same thing.

And the Tool song sounds really goofy and out of place. I used to love Tool until I grew out of that kind of music. But if hard/modern rock is your thing, go for it. Just keep it out of Captain America trailers.
I still hope the movie will be great, though. -
This trailer makes me want to see this film more than ever!

THIS COULD VERY WELL BE AT SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE LEVELS OF GREATNESS
by bsb

Mission accomplished. -
outside of that
this is the movie that rocketeer couldve been -
All these years I've been a Captain America fan and I never thought of him with the New York accent but it works and makes him way less corny.
-
Looking forward to this, I hope they move it up a couple weeks.
-
I'd already seen enough good stuff in the earlier trailers that I didn't need a bunch more 'cool moments' dumped into the last trailer. The problem with this thing is that, even though it's cool, we now have another 10 or so "react" moments in the film that we've already seen, so the jokes, one-liners, surprise moments, etc., shown here will now be spoiled.
Yes, the grenade moment is cool. No, I didn't need to see it now, in the last trailer before the film is out, because now I'll have already seen it when I see it.
The earlier trailers worked because they set up the premise and then gave you fleeting action shots of the midsts of many action scenes. This one, however, dumps a lot of critical moments from several scenes into our laps, leaving us no choice but to have a dozen new specific deja vu moments in the theater.
Plus, the music is garbage. I know a lot of people here like Tool, but to me it's just tired, plodding, lukewarm King Crimson leftovers. And also just about the least appropriate music imaginable for a 1940s Cap film. When did people stop associating films with orchestral music? Sheesh. Save the Tool for, say, a Gambit film - overrated, out of date, never as cool as originally believed. A good match. -
Looks like a lot of fun and made with a lot of loving care. About the only thing that could spoil it is if they let the CG dictate the scale of the film, and the characters all end up drowning in a hazy mush of video-game graphics which leave no impact.
I'm talking to you, Indiana Jones 4. -
by using Tool's music.
A DANGEROUS METHOD? Yep.
THE FOX AND THE HOUND? Yep.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC? Yep.
CONAN THE BARBARIAN? HELL yep.
INCEPTION? Yarp.
THE WIZARD OF OZ? Toto-ly yep.
CITIZEN KANE? TITANIC? THE DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD?
All yep.
-
I know, that was terrible.

I don't get why everyone gets so hot under the collar about how jingoistic this movie is.
I am English and I can't wait to see it - in this movie at least, Capt A kind of represents the fighting spirit and wise cracking humour of the GI's in WW2,and as long as he is kicking Nazi butt it's all good with me :)

Am I the only one who is convinced that this is Hugh Jackman in the trailer, making an unnamed cameo? Sure looks like him.... I can't find any mention of him and this movie anywhere on the interwebs.
They would have to keep him unnamed because of the rights issues, but there ya go... something to think about... -

I love Tool, love Cap, love "forty six and two," but...
by slaughterstorm
the way they chopped up the song for the trailer was a disgrace. couldn't they have just muted the lyrics a little instead of completely ruin the chord progression?? I can't be the only one who was frustrated by this. One of the best parts about Tool is the timing of the songs. the suspense before the breakdown. you can't just go, "METAL METAL METAL METAL!!!" without rhyme or reason. I hope this trailer will get people into the music more, but I feel that it will instead further alienate listeners who already dislike the genre.
-
I'm talking standing tall, doing what's right and watching out for your fellow man and knowing that's what it takes to be a real American.
-
in my eyes thats what it takes to be a good person in general and has nothing to do where you were born or where you live.
-
the connection between the meaning of the song and the meaning of the film is extremely intriguing. The song is about change, and the evolution of mankind. Does captain america, the legendary supersoldier, represent the next phase of human evolution? This theme was also explored in X-Men First Class, as with most MARVEL films.
-
*Hear hear*!
I thought exactly the same thing when I saw that bit about where heroes are made. I'm also an Aussie and completely up for this movie. In fact I'm looking forward to it, it looks killer.
But man I cringed at that phrase. lol -
I know what you mean, but they do this all the time so I just shrug it off.
this trailer is bad-ass and has upped my anticipation for this flick.
At first I wasn't completely sold, but the costume looks great in those scenes. -
Frail guy with heart suffers a random event which makes him stronger. The girl falls in love with him and he saves the world by kicking everyones ass.
Haven't we been here with EVERY superhero film ever made?
ps. Some of the CGI stuff with the plane makes this look like Sky Captain ! -
the cap origin was created in 41
not kirby and simon's fault that others have used it since (never mind that the super soldier program is not a random event)
so the makers should change the story cuz you are bored with it
fuck you...fuck you and every other internet troll -
Certainly any American fighting for justice should be able to show his face. So why the mask? Why not be proud to show your face while fighting against evil? I mean its not like a protective mask or anything, its one to hide his identity. Why?

Good trailer, but Hollywood has me way to Jaded to buy in before mass reviews come in
by thatswhatshesaid
Don't see how anyone can really comment on a movie based on the trailer after all the garbage that Hollywood has churned out.
-
Hide behind a flag, faceless, and assaulting others with impunity. I mean shit, this guy isnt a normal guy like Batman or Spiderman who NEEDS to hide his face, this is a government agent, soldier, captain! dude is official! So why the fuck is he hiding?
-
as usual, they reveal way too much. whats crazy is thats actually their plan. they WANT to give u a mini movie in 2 minutes, telling u all the big moments up til the end...when u already know the end. nothing is left up to mystery anymore because too much money is at stake.
but yea, as a movie, it doesnt look bad. Nothing really stands out either. Its a basic movie with basic movie tricks. Very fucking standard, nothing out of the ordinary, all the shots are consistent with everything one would expect. The grenade scene is a nice touch, but its probably the most humane thing about the entire movie.
Back in the day the studio would have let us experience that in the theater. Like imagine seeing a trailer for Raiders and seeing Indy shoot the swordsman. That would have NEVER happened. So why ruin potentially one of the biggest, best moments in the film with putting it in the trailer like that? These studios are so fucking scared not enough people will see their shit that they sabotage it. So sad. -
Q: How many Frenchmen does it take to defend France?
A: No one knows. -
Nothing wrong with that headline. Some act like Cap is about to massacre foreign hordes to protect the american master race. He's fighting nazis thanks to a German scientist with the help of an English lady (and if there's a Cap 2, he will probably have some wacky adventures with the French resistance.) There's nothing wrong with a character called Captain America, representing America.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b5RoI-jeGI
For starters, its not chronological. They use dialogue scenes from all over, and action scenes from all over. They use voice overs to plug the holes that they dont want us to see. I mean shit, we dont even know that Belloc is bad here. We see one bad guy really. And the scene with the giant boulder from the beginning of the movie shows up at the end of the trailer, in a really quick shot.
So when u go to see the movie, u have no idea where anything is gonna happen. You just know it sounds cool and looks cool, and now u are in for some cool shit.
nowadays for some reason we gotta know everything before watching something. what in the fuck kind of experience is that? -

Someone needs to recut Spoiler trailers as Non Spoiler trailers
by johnathankana
holy shit, this could be cool. Take these bullshit spoiler trailers and re edit them and reupload them on youtube as a non spoiler channel. Give fans a way to get a sense of the film without having it rammed down their throats.
could be kinda cool. -
..."I used to love Tool until I grew out of that kind of music."
When you say "grew out of", of course you mean "became dull and uninteresting". That's what people do. They pretend to "get" and enjoy things when they're young, to "fit in" and then as soon as they reach a certain age, their true, dull persona kicks in. This is what thay class as "growing up".
Pretentious douche trying to make himself feel better about being dull as dishwater.
And I'm not sticking up for Tool in particular, before you start trying to have a go at my tastes. Just your lame attitude to anything you don't like. -
...please, NEVER take into consideration the majority of the Talkbackers in this forum when making decisions for our country.
Yes, exploiting their obvious favoritism for "America" might get you Box Office numbers, but, it should not determine actual foreign diplomacy.
As for you "good-old boys" screaming "AMERICA: FUCK YEAH!" (completely missing the ironic nature of the song): YOU have done nothing for "your" country. All you've done is religiously watch 24 and THE SHIELD and masturbate to one of the female reporters on Fox News. YOU have NOT sacrificed anything for "your" country. YOU have merely been a consumer and worker. YOU do NOT "love" your country. YOU love how good it feels following the mob and not questioning anything. YOU don't even know the actual history of "your" country. YOU did not grow up in the "Bronx". YOU do not respect and honor "your" military. YOU love the self-gratifying feeling you get by romanticizing "the military". YOU are a good dog.
My interest for this film has gone down two-fold after this blatent marketing campaign to get the DAYS OF THUNDER crowd.
Time to go read a book... -
They give up way too much of the film in these trailers now. that was a virtual step by step of the whole story ! Some of the best films I've seen have been because you didn't know what was going to happen.
-
the trailer alone makes me want to treat foreign people poorly, there is no telling what the film will do. i am hoping it will whip me into some kind of nationalistic fervor, extreme patriotism that flirts with fascism! U.S.A!!!!!!!!!!!!

It DOES look like it's gonna be the best Marvel movie so far!
by carl xvi gustaf
And I'm not talking just Marvel Studios, but Marvel anything. People mention Spider-Man and X-men. Yes, good but quite forgettable. For me as a Marvel Comics fan the Marvel Studios movies have been better than the others. Yea, even Inc Hulk.
Avengers next year will crush everything! -
if "north of $200 million domestic, $500 million worldwide" is what makes a true blockbuster, there's only been two so far this year.
And that's that pirate sequel and that Fast sequel (that last one makes me wonder about human kind). So let's just make sequels from now on. -

IF CAPTAIN AMERICA ISN'T RELIGIOUS HE'S NOT A TRUE AMERICAN
by scottpilgrimfan
He had better be very religious, just like all true Americans. One nation, under God.
-
nothing xenophobic about the trailer
unless you think that fighting the nazis was a terrible thing...
and if that is the case...i hope your nazi ass gets banned from this site
stupid, leftiist tool -
Captain America had better be pro-life, just like all real Americans. May God bless us all.
-
cap wore a mask because he represented all fighting men...and all of america
he was selfless...and didnt fight for personal glory
AND HE FOUGHT THE FUCKING NAZIS...YOU BIG DUMMY
-
Every single person on this board would benefit from momentarily shutting down their web browser, loading up Tool's "lateralus" album, hitting play and just quietly listen for about 75 minutes. You have to give credit to the greats. The 60's/70's had Pink Floyd. We have Tool.
Also, despite having severely chopped up the song, i thought it actually really worked for the trailer. It won't be in the movie, but I like it for the trailer. -
You are quite the charmer!
You might want to re-read what I wrote before making yourself look like a bigger tool than you do now.
I said the film looked standard superhero drudge, not the comic origin story.
If the films been made 1000x under the guise of Spiderman, Iron Man, Superman etc them why bother making it again? -
He would fit perfect in the Minuteman photograph from the 40s. That is a good thing in my opinion.

Ok, let's settle all the politics once and for all. Hulk Hogan is the ONLY Real American.
by thecomedian
-
That's cool. You don't have to like the music, but as a Tool fan and for the sake of not sounding like a "Tool fan" (some of you know what I mean), if you knew what the song was about, you'd realize it's perfect for this trailer.
-
That's kinda what I've been waiting to see. Lots of explosions, crazy set pieces, BIG action and it had freaking TOOL in it! That was a nice surprise, I'm still very curious to see how this is going to do at the B.O. though, considering it doesn't have all the crazy fantastical elements that other comic book movies have. But this was a great trailer and really manages to get you hyped up. But I do have one question- Since when the fuck did killing nazis become a no-no? WHO in the hell is sensitive about NAZI killing for crying out loud??
-
Even more excited than I already was! Also, anyone else think that Red Skull looks remarkable? This trailer only gives us one new shot, but its given me proof that they took his comic design and didnt change it to fulfill the studios requirement to not fuck with the material in an attempt to make more money. Reminds me of how great Doc Ock was in Spidey 2.
Quick rant: Fuck the different studios owning Marvel properties and having no balls until now (to a degree). Let X-men go into cosmic territory. Let Spidey team with the Avengers. So much potential to create something truly mind blowing. I think they are finally heading in the right direction. They took the chance on Thor which was good, and Avengers is on the horizon. Cap is looking awesome and just seeing the shots of Red Skull looking like Red Skull gives me hope! Now lets get rid of Fox so X-men can become what it should. Same with Spidey! The potential for the whole Marvel universe to finally be portayed is growing, but fucking studio rights and Hollywood bullshit holds it back. Damn shame. -
I guess I should have expected a simple "answer" from a simple-minded jackass, cause that's what I got.
-
Yeah...the grenade thing was cool but it spoils that WHOLE aspect of the film.
WHY skinny steve? Why was he so deserving? What makes Cap special above all others?
These are questions that should be answered IN THE FUCKING MOVIE not a damn trailer.
If it got people interested who weren't so before well.....good I guess. I was in from jump street though.
Its my own fault. I said I was gonna avoid all other pics and footage until it came out but I just couldn't help myself. .
Yeah....looks awesome. I always knew it would. -
it worked. And yes that grenade scene is great.
-
Film looks cool, too.
-
I don't normally say this based purely on a trailer, but it really looks like they nailed it!
I mean how do you make a guy who runs around in a bright red, white, and blue costume with little wings on his head and carries a big red shield with a pretty white star on it NOT look like a total douche in a live-action movie?
Looks like Johnston managed to find a way to not only keep him from looking TOTALLY ridiculous, but made him actually look badass! (The best I was hoping for was "passible" or at least not having the urge to snicker every time I saw him)
Oh my god I can't wait to see this! -
According to the trailers anyways.

I just noticed, that 1:54 looks like Cap is carrying the original golden-age chevron shaped shield! Perhaps it gets destroyed and he gets is trademark "bullseye" shield later.
VERY COOL! -

I'm very happy with the way puny-Steve Rogers turned out.
by royston lodge
I think that the transformation from puny weakling to Super-Soldier was always the most magical thing about Captain America, and I love that they seem to have nailed it in this flick.
It's why they like to flashback to his origin so often in the comics. As a modern hero, he's pretty bland and 2-dimensional. He doesn't have an interesting ongoing personality, like Spiderman or Wolvie.
It's Cap's origin story that gets the kids hooked, so the comics have to remind readers about it ever so often. -
But then again, Captain America has always been just a throw away superhero for me. He looks ridiculous in that suit walking with his big clunky shield. I think if you were designing the ultimate elite soldier, you'd have a lot better things to have him carry then that large round dumb looking shield.
-
I hate the kiss the girl shot. One brief second. Why give away all that sexual tnsion you have built up in all the trailers so far??? We all THINK he'll get the girl. I mean his shield is all big and shiny & shit, but why reveal that lil tidbit? Save us a lil something.
-
Jun 24, 2011 9:11:49 AM CDT
You know, I almost don't want him to get frozen in the Arctic.
by royston lodge
I would totally LOVE to see a whole series of big-screen WWII Captain America adventures.
At the very least, I hope they give us an Adult Swim animated series.
Get Warren Ellis and the G.I. Joe Resolute people to produce it.
Then sit back and enjoy the Nerdgasms. -
We're gonna get so many girls.
-
In the comics, he's TOO clean-cut. He's like a Mormon with a shield.
-
but this looks like a great comic movie. Only hope the scrawny CG FX aren't too distracting in context, they kept drawing my attention in the trailer.
-
Every trailer I see for this is fantastic. I think my only criticism is they're giving away too much. The grenade scene for example should definitely have been saved for the film. Hopefully there's other stuff as good as that in there yet to be seen.
-
Daredevil was an awful piece of film making. The casting was wrong, the script was crap, the acting worse, the visual effects don't even deserve the name.... it was piss poor.
But this looks like it has the potential to be a fantastic, fun movie that does fans justice and can be enjoyed by people who dont even know who Captain America is.
Well done to the film makers i say. -
America's greatest soldier...
Hooray for America...
And they pick LATE July? Really? -
The Nazis aren't Nazi enough! Cap's not wearing buccaneer boots! Dum Dum's mustache isn't the perfect shade of red! Waaahhhh!!
-
and that is Random Hero aka Ryan Dunn. Now where is his heroic obituary?
-
Between all the race and politic baiting, trolling, revisionist history, negativity and ignorance from EVERY side, there are a few people who want to talk about the movie, but it is getting harder and harder to sift through the shit to reveal the gem.
Also, the movie looks great, Haley Atwell is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, Chris Evans clearly invested himself in this and sells it and Stanley Tucci is one of the most underrated actors of all time.
-
Anybody else notice Cap hanging on the flying buzzbomb at the end? Probably headed for the North Pole and suspended animation.
I was worried about Evans in the role, but it looks like he buys into it. Gotta love the Howlers too. How are they gonna work Sgt. Fury into this thing? -
More generic loud buzzing rock...boring...why didn't they feature Silvestri's score ?
-
There was a time when Marvel didn't do what was easy in the comics...like keeping Spiderman out of the Avengers, keeping Wolverine in only one book...and keeping Captain America and Wolverine's history separate.
-

True American patriots hurl themselves on grenades without hesitation.
by scratchmonkey
Please take note, Sarah Palin.
-
...that the end of this movie is probably going to be Captain America frozen in something, to be thawed out in the modern day for AVENGERS. Maybe it'll do a *ten years later* thing so there's space for more period-specific adventures.
I loved THOR, but I have a consistent boner for Norse mythology, and Chris Hemsworth. It was fun. I skipped both FIRST CLASS and GREEN LANTERN. Partly because I don't care (about GL), and also with so many superhero films coming out I definitely have genre fatigue. But CAPTAIN AMERICA, I'm in. Chris Evans is dead handsome. And importantly, it doesn't feel like a 'superhero' film, not in the same way the others do. It feels like an adventure film. It feels a bit Indiana Jones, Tool notwithstanding, and I totally dig that vibe.
Looking forward to it. I've been picky this summer, but CAPTAIN AMERICA has always been top of my list. -
Many happy boyhood memories of his Marvel stuff. RIP, sir!
-
Looking forward to seeing Captain America: First Avenger in the theaters soon.
Although I was never really a Capt America "fanboy" (I followed Spiderman, X-men, The Hulk, Silver Surfer and occasionally Fantastic Four)....just like I wasn't a follower of The Green Lantern or even Ironman....what I am interested in is how this kicks off the whole Avengers movement and if this is done really well then there is only even more high hopes that when the Avengers assemble next summer? We are going to have a really kick-ass film on our hands to truely enjoy and revel in!
What I find really hilarious about a lot of the negative posts here as well as on the other Superhero films that have in the past been in production or are currently being filmed? Is how so many people base their "opinions" on how a certain film is going to look or base their criticism on how certain costumes or sets look in photos that are merely THAT....photos taken from a camera, not from an actual still of films that has been developed and the special effects added to it (Case in point, all the negativity when it came to the recent release of "Thor"....a lot of naysayers said "ohhhh the film looks like shit!", or "Anthony Hopkins looks terrible as Odin" or "the film looks like it's going to suck!")....blah, blah, fucking BLAH!
Guess what? "Thor" was pretty damn good and I even liked "The Green Lantern" (Seems like I am not the only one either)
All the nerdy little so-called "Fanboy Nerds" with all their negative comments who haven't even seen the film since it hasn't been released yet? Get a life, logoff from your silly little computers, actually GO OUTSIDE for a change and why don't you actually wait until "Captain America" (as well as "Transformers 3" and "Cowboys & Aliens") has been released and you have spent your allowance money to go see it in the theater....then and only then will your negativity and spite and nasty commments hold any validity as far as I am concerned -

That scene with him jumping on the grenade is such manipulative, sentimental pap
by bobo_vision
It's like Liam Neeson crying in Schindler's List saying, "I could have done so much more..."
It rings fake. It's almost comical....like a scene from Hot Shots Part Deux. It's so pre-meditated and forced....ya know? -
Can ANYONE answer this question? ANYONE?
-
Never gonna happen, not happening, full stop. It's like all these people have no idea about the whole rights things (Marvel Studios vs Fox in this case). It's not like every Marvel character will appear in every Marvel movie.
James Mangold's got his Wolvie movie happening, just wait it out until that hits, you don't need a Jackman cameo every few months, do you? -
Why didn't you guys report on a Wolvie director being signed?
-
Fan-Fuckin-Tastic
-
Wrong with a country being proud of itself. Any more than schools shouldn't have "fight songs" or fans shouldn't love their sports teams. Any healthy ego thinks the world revolves around it. True, that's not "evolved"--but countries aren't evolved, although some people are. Every group of people in the world has a mythology that says "God made us first and loves us best." Assholes have convinced too many Americans they don't have the same right to be proud everyone else has--as if the fact that we were/are godawful powerful denies us the right to be like everyone else in this regard. This is pretty much the same as Feminists convincing too many wussy men they should be ashamed of being men. Fuck that. England has the right to be proud of England, Japan of Japan, Saudi Arabia of Saudi Arabia, Kenya of Kenya, Mexico of Mexico...and Americans can fucking well be proud of America, and fuck anyone who says otherwise. Can't wait!
-
So that he can have a normal life, not being hunted by every Nazi in the world.
And btw--it is pure myth that Conservatives are the only ones supporting Israel. If that was true, most Jews wouldn't be Liberals. -
You wrote 'FOX AND THE HOUND is an amazing movie, especially in the way it rejects violence and is about people getting out of their malecentric roles and becoming friends and, basically, lovers for all intents and purposes, minus the sex of course.'
I couldn't agree more. You summed it up quite nicely.
It really parallels APOCALYPSE NOW and LORD OF THE FLIES in that sense.
I would also love to discuss with you the idea that NIGHT OF THE LEPUS is a razor-sharp dissection of gender stereotypes in a male-centric world as seen through the eyes of giant bunnies who are only looking to silflay in a world full of the enemies that are now their prey. -

Hipshot, I think CAP's ID is well known in Marvel universe
by sunwukong86
I could be wrong, but I think he hasnt hid it that well
-
Going from 44 + 2 chromosomes 46 + 2. Fits perfectly with the moment in the trailer where he is new and improved. Genius, in fact.
-
...pretty much sums up who Steve Rogers/Cap
is...selfless, and someone who inspires others by action.
So excited about the tone of this so far.
Really looking forward to this, but not gonna watch anymore trailers...they're starting to
give away too much.

He's still skinny.

Nothing. I'm just a kid from Brooklyn.

Like the vibe of the character in the movie marvel universe
by dreadpirateroberts
At least from the trailer, this is someone I could see fighting next to Downey's Iron Man. Still finding it a bit tough to imagine Thor standing next to the two of them (and I did like that film). But Iron Man and Cap seem to fit.

by dreadpirateroberts
Seriously, I don't care how corny you personally think it is. This sort of fearless heroism is how the Green Lantern should have been portrayed like. It should have been the fearless guy who learns to tame, master and unleash the force of his will. Not the guy who quits after minimal training, not the guy who learns to stop being a quitter.

Of COUSE it's going to be patriotic/gung-ho America! It's fucking Captain America!
by playkins
Ity's his character, it's what he is. I think it will be fascinating to see how it stands up with today's attitude and how well it's received abroad.
GO CAP! Missed ya, buddy! -
The movie will be fine. Cap is a hero from a bygone era and contrary to what you may think he represents the "spirit" or ideal of the country.
While I have never shared and will never share the Marxist interpretation of the United States (regarding corporations and the "rich") I can certainly understand that the 1940s were a different time for us and we should not be ashamed that Stan Lee and Marvel were trying to motivate people's patriotism in that time.
Anyone with any more than just a passing experience with Cap should know he has been mired in this sort of "man out of time without any contemporary relevancy" schtick since at least the 1960's, when Vietnam tried our very souls and tore the country apart, domestically and don't even get me started on the almost embarrassingly bad interpretations of him from 2001 onward. So a film set during the Second World War should really be a no brainer by comparison as to mood. -
Cap's identity was a deep secret in WW2. It finally became known widely after about 30 years of "modern day" adventures.
-
Pardon me, but somehow, I don't think that represents a "change of heart" for you at all...
-
Including opposing the government when it is wrong is the most American thing about him. Nothing is more American than telling your own government that it is full of shit and putting a boot in its ass when it won't listen. Just because we've turned into a nation of simpering greedy self-indulgent pussies doesn't change that fact. It just means that most Americans aren't acting like Americans these days.
-
Fuck!
-
I swear to god there are some whiny hateful people out there... ah, the teeming masses of humanity, who see something and love, love, love to pick it apart. Who can't say, hey, cool summer movie, let's go have some fun. Nope. It's all... where's his wings, and his head is too big... ah well, I thought it was cool, and I'll have fun. I feel kinda sorry for some of you folks.
-
Man, that sucks. Everyone is going to bring up Columbo, which they should. But, let's not forget all of his great work with John Casavetes in the 70's. 'Husbands' in particular.
-
Hmmm. You call me an asshole, and accuse me of condemning your position. Kindly quote where I said anything other than express doubt that your current position represents a change of heart--which might be questioning your honesty, but not "condemning" your white pride or politics. Please feel free to take pride in whatever group identification you can, since clearly, based upon your lack of courtesy, ability to read or capacity to reason, you have little to be proud of as an individual.
-
This movie is America at it's best.
Rogers character epitomizes what is good and right and true about the US.
I say that as an admirer from America's Hat©
Now, if only they'd not pussy out with the title overseas.
Why do you think Blue Bloods does so well in those markets?
It's a decent show, writings a bit weak but the ideal is there that people the world over admire.
Honesty.
Integrity.
Family.
Honour.
That's what Steve Rogers represents.
To NOT call him Captain America overseas is to disregard the positive power of that symbol.
Oh, and did I see Cap swinging on a cable or zipline or something with the original crest-type shield?
This.
Movie.
Will.
ROCK!
AMERICA!
FUCK YEAH!

Or worse, they're setting the right mood. That's not how a Captain America movie should be. It should be more Raiders of the Lost Ark than Iron Man. I fear the movie will be a big modern romp filled with CGI and comic relief and a hip and cool modern score like Thor or Iron Man when it should be a pulpy adventure flick like the Rocketeer or Indiana Jones with a classic John Williams score, so when the Avengers comes around and Cap is in modern day he looks completely out of place in a way that's more than setting, but also mood and feel. I fear they've already messed it up when it comes to tone. But I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm good at geussing this kind of thing. I knew X-Men:First Class was going to rock from day one, and I knew Green Lantern was going to suck from day one. I've been thinking this'll suck since Johnston was announced as director. I just don't trust the guy.
-
That scene has been used in countless war films. I'm not thrilled by the trailer. Joe Johnson has never made a great film in 20+ years of directing. The Rocketeer had moments or greatness but very little action. If Speilberg made this movie I would be in line tomorrow. The sets look 90% soundstage to me. That sucks as well. I say X-Men:FC for the win this summer.

Chris Evans looks like he nailed the characterstics of Steve Roges/Captain America.
This movie looks to be a big hit this summer. -

I wouldn't get all riled up about that.
If you remember way back, when Gladiator was about to be released, the TV trailers were cut to Queen's 'We Will Rock You', ending with Crowe's 'Are you not entertained?!' line.
So, yeah, they're just selling the movie to the 18-25 segment and using Tool music. It's not a big deal.
And I happen to love Tool, BTW. -
being proud to be an oppressed and hated minority is about having the courage to stand up for yourself and refuse to embrace the hate.
being proud of being white in america just makes you a douche bag. it's like being proud to be born rich.
pride in something you don't have to struggle for isn't pride it's vanity.
beautiful people who love themselves for their beauty are vain.
athletes who sacrifice to work hard for countless hours earn pride in the body they forge.
i am white. i am not proud to be white. i never had to work to be white. what would i have to be proud for? nothing.
but i am proud to be a foster kid who overcame my early struggles in life to accomplish what i determined for myself that i would accomplish. i develop video games. art, science and fun all mixed together. i am finishing up a game and i am damn fucking proud of the work i have done. i work from the comfort of my home which can be anywhere in the world. i found an amazing woman to share life with and i am damn proud of myself for that. and i'm proud of her for everything she has accomplished.
you probably have a lot to be proud of in your life, but unless you are struggling to overcome oppression for being white then being proud of being white is just vanity. -

Personally I think Captain America looks like it will be a great big ball of fun, but I think it will fail miserably at the box office
by lv_426
Cowboys & Aliens is coming only a week later, and the cash strapped movie going masses will probably decide to wait and see the reviews for both films. Add to that will be the fact that Cowboys & Aliens can boast "by the director of Iron Man" in the trailers and on the posters.
If Cowboys & Aliens gets stellar reviews, or hell, even a pass from the critics, then people will flock to that one. I think that Captain America will possibly get beaten up by critics as they seem to have superhero movie fatigue at this point, and they just might have hostile feelings towards more superhero flicks due to this summer movie season already having three big superhero films before Cap. Cowboys & Aliens will probably appeal to a lot of the middle aged and older critics, as they might have grown up with a lot of westerns and probably played Cowboys and Indians when they were kids.
Then there is going to be the mixed feelings about Captain America being an overly jingoistic film that falsely inflates American ideals. The critics might just have a field day ranting about this film.
Also, Cowboys & Aliens will win points for being "original", or at least original in the sense that it will be perceived as a fun twist on the old Cowboys & Indians concept. It is also not an old superhero character being given and origin story. Audiences and critics just may see Captain America as a formulaic superhero film ("been there, done that"), while Cowboys & Aliens will seem somewhat fresh.
Captain America will also be competing for people's attention with Transformers 3, which will be released at the end of June and will take up theater space into July as well. Those films seem to make money regardless of what the critics say.
It sucks, because I think Captain America looks like a ton of fun and a superhero film in the spirit of The Rocketeer or Raiders of the Lost Ark. Plus, I love these types of retro sci-fi/fantasy adventure films set in the 30's and 40's, but I just don't see Captain America making enough to warrant a sequel, that is if the film even makes a profit at all. -
it looks like "Slick Willie" got his ass handed to him.
-
The Lighthorsemen. There's your Aussie heroes.
Tagline: Heroes are made in the OUTBACK! -
The Release date really should be moved up. Come on Marvel have some balls put this up against that crap Transformers 3. This movie looks great!
I loved that they put this in WWII the actually looks like it captured that magic of the Rocketeer but with more action! -
I remember one of my Girlfriends (Ten Years ago) had asked me to go with her to one of their concerts in MSG. (Since her friend bailed out at the last minute.) and i didn't really care for any of the songs with the noted exception of Sober.
The more amusing segment during the concert had to the the Naked chick being hung upside down. Now THAT'S peformance art!
Although it's not my knd of music, i wouldn't say that the band sucks, but my tastes more or less, lean toward hardcore than alternative.
If it's for marketing purposes, then who's to condemn the film altogether? -

Try and look up a few examples from this site, cuntrag. Oh, BTW if you dig deep enough, you will find many of my posts in which i have bashed blatant racists on AICN. (from Fight Club to Sierratangofoxtrotuniform.)
Your attempt at making me be a hypocrite is fucking laughable at worst and pathetic at best.
Go ahead, slander me more and BTW my best friend is Black. So were some of my past Girlfriends. So yeah, fuckface I DO know Black People in real life.
Now STFU and go burn your cross in front of your trailer.
Speaking of You, why is Cap fighting Hydra as oppossed to Nazis?
Fuck off. -
As of now, CAP is tracking much higher than Cowboys & Aliens. According to boxoffice.com, Cap is expected to open around $47 Mil and finish with $140M (I'm expecting slightly better, but what do I know?). C&A is tracking at $29M opening/$79M total. I think Harry Potter will have a lot more detrimental effect on Cap than C&A, which I think will struggle to find an audience. We'll see!
-
Ideals? Really the movie overly inflates the idea of "All men are created equal" and the other raified dreams laid out by America's myth? Really? The ideals are ginen to much importance?
America, and Americans, may rarely live up to the ideals of the American Society, but we try, and Cap sure as hell does. Oh and Cap is a libertarian, anti gun control, pro choice, that kinda thing -

Ironically, we're(USA) kinda like the Nazis now, illegally occupying other countries
by nabster
Just saying. It's a little weird how blinkered people are, that they can't see such an obvious parrallel. Sure, we're not sending anyone to the gas chamber.
We do that with radioactive cluster bombs, predator drones, and indefinite prison detentions. It's one thing to kill over 2 million ppl in Iraq and Afghanistan, which we did. And it's a whole nother(much worse) thing to indefinitely occupy these countries.
Fighting oppression is not an American thing at all. And I'm saying this as an AMerican myself.
-
Given that IBC (Iraqibodycount.org) puts it at 110k, and even lancet which is tracking medical effect/QoL issues puts it at 600k. Only 24% of that 600k is related to violence and only 31% of that is attributed coalition forces.
As to the legality of occupying the lands? Declared war (right or wrong, personally I'd have just had special forces kill anyone who even looked funny), destroyed government, decided to stick around to form a new one. Got mired down in BS. Yeah a new pattern for US wars, it's not like the US is still in Germany or Japan... Oh wait.

"You and I both know you're a racist."

" HAHAHAH...your best friend is black, eh? Does he listen to Tool? LOL." No,retard one of my past GFs was a fan of Tool as I have mentioned earlier . (Oh, and for the record, she's Biracial.)
"And you fucked black girls? Wow, then you couldn't possibly be racist....because anyone who would ram their dick into a black person's pussy can't possibly be racist, right?"
Hey asshole, you claimed that i do not know any Black People, ergo I gave you a few examples.
BTW it was more than just ramming my dick in black pussy. You're fucking pathetic and a blatant racist cunt at that.
"LOL Keep bleating you politically correct idiot."
Your the one posting shit like "White Power" and you call me an idiot? I don't need to impress anyone or myself by "trying" to be politically correct, especially on AICN, It's who I am.
Please enlighten me on any of the racist comments that you claim to make out to be...

@erykthedead According to Amnesty INternational, and other Orgs, we Killed well over a million in Iraq
by nabster
It ranges widely amongst these groups from 400,000 to 1.5 million. And the leaked Iraq War files, which we conviniently ignored, proved we killed 140,000 civillians in cars just at checkpoints!
We've done our best to make sure we do not count the dead. ANd our rules for counting the dead are ridiculous. For instance, if someone is shot from the back and not the front, it is not counted.
The reality is, its almost certain we killed far more than a million. We've also left depleted uranium all over country, and basically everyone in Iraq gets cancer now. Dude, we pillaged the country of EVERYTHING of value, we stole artifacts and destroyed the rest. We destroyed that country. The true cost is probably 2-3 million people in JUST Iraq. I'm sorry but we're not the good guys at all. And most of the word knows it.
You know what I think being an American is? Honestly and intelligently criticising your country. Blind nationalism(Chinese) is something I associate with OTHER countries. -
It's waaaaaaaaaaaay higher than 110k.
Between Iraq and Afghanistan it's at least a million.
Of course no one knows because of all the disinfo. -
sounds ridiculously stupid. ill do the robot dance in celebration if he gets banned.

Can't get over how political this movie is making people. Its a movie. Its a fictional character named Captain America. Loved my many for over 50 years now.
If your hatred for the United States (greatest country on Earth) consumes you to such a degree it interferes with your enjoyment of big-budget tent-pole movie produced by a company thats knocking them out of the park, than save your money, and go see a Michael Moore Documentary. -
Looks great! After watching the first try at this property back in the 90s I had lost hope for this character ever making a decent big screen outing. This is now my most anticipated movie of the summer!
-
Heroes are made all over the world. But superheroes on the other hand, those are american made. So the line should have been SUPERHEROES ARE MADE IN AMERICA.
-
I guess I might be considered a "good-old boy" because I have screamed "AMERICA: FUCK YEAH!" (having nothing to do with the song): I have done something for my country. I don't watch 24 or The Shield and have never masturbated to any female reporters on any news show. I have sacrificed something for MY country (I think serving 6 years in the U.S.M.C. qualifies). I am pretty damn sure everyone on this planet is a consumer (food, water, etc...). And most people do work. I DO love MY country (though I don't always agree with the decisions made by its leaders). I DON'T follow the mob and I question a lot of things. I bet I know more about the actual history of my country than you do. No, I did not grow up in the Bronx (but I have been there). I do honor and respect our military. I don't romanticize about the military, because I ACTUALLY know what it is like. YOU ARE THE GOOD DOG. A female dog. So be a good little bitch and go read your pop-up book, you smug, arrogant, pretentious douche bag.

by conspiracy
Half my post didn't fucking post! God Damn it....Hire some fucking professionals to code this bitch Harold.
Anyway...I just do not like when movies set in a fictional universe use music grounded in the "now". It does nothing to add to the film, and distracts from the visuals as you are immediately pulled out of the film by it. If they wanted Heavy guitar riffs, which for a film set in the 1940's I can't understand why" then do an original piece. Fucks sake...it's Los Angeles, go down to Musicians Institute and part time fry cook taking classes there would be happy to whip something up for the price of an ounce of decent herb.
Myself...I think it would have been a much better trailer with period music, or original orchestration. But with the TOOL riff...it takes an otherwise well crafted trailer and turns it into another teen pandering explosion fest that Bay would be proud of.
Nothing wrong with TOOL...Everything right with the trailer...they just do not belong together. And for the record I hated the use of AC/DC in Iron Man 2...Sabbath in IM1 was ok..it was on fadeout. -
Or can you really not answer simple questions? If you've ever been to this site before, you'd know I'm not a troll. The Avengers movie isn't even out yet, which is a valid reason in wanting to know why its obvious it would not fit in with X-Men continuity. I haven't seen First Class yet, and I'd like to hear your explanation.
Or are you still a grade-A jackass? -
Jun 25, 2011 12:05:47 PM CDT
Oh, jesus christ. Fine, I'll explain it to the fucking retard.
by nico_laos
You do realize that the Avengers movie will be part of a shared universe, right? You do realize that both Iron Man movies, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Captain America all involve crossover characters, right? You do realize that the central figures of all these films make up the Avengers, right?
Well, then if you understand all of that ... then you should have no problem figuring out that when I say 'Avengers movies', I'm obviously referring to the other films involving these same characters, in the same shared universe.
As for how this fits in with the X-Men ... it doesn't take a genius to realize that the whole 'mutant hysteria' seen in the X-Men films seem to be oddly absent from any of the movies involving Avengers characters, is it should be.
This is obvious.
Now, kindly fuck off. -
Its less that they couldnt fit into eachothers continuity and more that, since Fox has the rights to X-Men and Marvel has the rights to Cap and the rest of the Avengers, the chance of a cameo from either franchise in the other's series is quite slim..
-
I am aware of that. There is no chance for a cross-over due to the different studios owning rights to different characters. I'm just curious why its obvious the two franchises don't fit into each others' continuity.
-
it doesn't take a genius to realize that the whole 'mutant hysteria' seen in the X-Men films seem to be oddly absent from any of the movies involving Avengers characters
-

And no one, I repeat NO ONE, calls the Iron Man franchise, the Hulk franchise, and the Thor franchise...
by d.vader
... The "Avengers movies". That's something you, and only you, have made up.
-
Jun 25, 2011 2:36:28 PM CDT
Besides, you don't need constant "mutant hysteria" for films to be in the same universe
by d.vader
The only reason mutant hysteria is highlighted in the X-films is because- SURPRISE!- those films are about mutants.
I don't see constant mutant hysteria represented in other Marvel titles. Sometimes its just in there as an Easter Egg, like someone flipping channels and going past a news story. Throwing something like that into the Avengers films wouldn't be out of the question and it wouldn't infringe on the Fox-owned X-characters either.
I think its unlikely any of this will happen, but again, its not OBVIOUS that it won't. -
This is the first time its happened to me.
I'll keep the rehash quick and to the point.
FOX doesn't own the rights to the word "mutant". Its entirely possible The Avengers movie can have a character say he believes Thor to be a deluded mutant rather than a Norse God (just like in the comics). Its possible, improbable but not impossible, and therefore it certainly doesn't jive with your assertion that its OBVIOUS that the two movies don't exist in the same continuity.
You may as well claim its obvious the X-Men can't exist in Captain America's world bc not a single X-Men mentions Cap when discussing history in the X-films. -
Fuck it man. Let's go bowling.
-
That's got to be it. I bet he has arguments with other 12 year olds about which fictional characters would win in a fight with each other.
By the way, d, you've been obsessing over semantics for two days now. The fact that you still don't understand what I'm saying is fucking hilarious. Please keep it up. -
You know what? You're right. The X-Men can't possibly exist in the same world as the Avengers simply because mutants are never mentioned in the other characters' films.
THAT'S your big piece of evidence, the end of the argument.
And its retarded.
But you know what, that kind of logic is right! For example, Superman could obviously *never* exist in the same continuity as Christopher Nolan's Batman because you NEVER hear anyone talk about that super-powered guy in Metropolis!
Stick to the topic at hand if you can keep up. If not, and if you realize that A) your first argument was entirely too weak and B) you've been beaten, then continue to fall back on tired middle school insults.
Because its obvious you have absolutely nothing else. You're weak. -
maybe even Red Skull's daughter.
-
Beaten at what? You asked a ridiculous question and I gave you a response worthy of it. Do you think if I went up to John Favreau or Kenneth Branagh and started talking about the 'Avengers movies' that they would say, 'There aren't any Anvengers movies yet. What are talking about? No one calls these franchises that!'
Haha. You're right. I'm sure no one would understand.
And as far as your Batman and Superman point goes ... either you haven't seen Nolan's films, or you really are 12 years old.
LOL ... Yes, d, I'm weak. I concede. Your unparalleled powers of reason have proven that all superhero movies exist in the same continuity. But hey ... why stop there? Batman never talks about Luke Sywalker, right? But that doesn't mean there aren't jedi running around. Just think of the possibilities! Iron Man teams up with Gandalf to rescue Han Solo from Agent Smith! Why hasn't anyone made this movie yet?! According to d. vader, it's obvious they belong in the same shared universe!
BTW ... nice work on writing *its retarded*. Oh, the irony. It's right up there with *your stupid*.
And make sure that when you reply, you hit the enter button six times between paragraphs like you've been doing. It really helps my simple mind grasp the highbrow rhetoric you're trying to get across. LOL -
Jun 25, 2011 4:20:25 PM CDT
Laos, is there any way you can stick to the topic without insults?
by d.vader
There's your challenge. I doubt you can live up to it.
Fact remains, you said its OBVIOUS the two continuities can't exist in the same universe.
So far, you've done very little to prove it. But doing very little seems to be your MO. -
I haven't read all the posts in this thread, and I'm reluctant to step into anything going on between Talkbackers.
I'm just confused as all cacophony about this supposed great desire on the part of a hungering public for this "shared universe" nonsense, represented by this predicted domination of all things holy by Marvel Comic Book movies.
Lettuce see...previous examples of "shared universe" movies...
FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF-MAN, HOUSE OF DRACULA, ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN. OK, those were fun movies. They kinda worked. Don't tell me, though, those are the first titles that come to your mind when people ask you about the great horror films.
Um, AVP, FREDDY VS. JASON? I might be forgetting something, but the contemporary examples of the "shared universe" concept really suck.
I just don't see much of a yearning for it beyond a wee corner of the internet. And, yeah, I realize everyone here expects THE AVENGERS to set the world on fire. Personally, I'll be shocked if it makes THOR money. And, they'll probably have found a way to add three bucks to the ticket price by then. -

It's just frustrating sometimes being a tool fan lol you DO feel like you're on to something special, because the uninitiated is often just callous and ignorant. The fact that some of the songs happen to be on rock radio should be considered a blessing to the uninitiated and a beckoning to discover the REALLY good stuff. But I'd say their demographic is closer to 25-55 than 18-25.
But people are always gonna hate. I'm sure there were a few people who hated on Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin at the time as well. ;) -

BEST MARVEL TRAILER YET!
Damn, I've always loved Cap as a character, but I always cringed a slight bit at the idea of bringing him to the screen in a big way because I just figured Hollywood would back off from the patriotism angle...or they'd make him look doofy...or play him like a joke.
But so far everything to date has been SPOT ON and Johnston looks to deliver an insanely great comic book movie -- as someone noted, possibly the BEST comic book "feel good movie" since the original Donner SUPERMAN film.
FUCK YEAH! BRING THIS ON! IT LOOKS AMAZING AND GEEK-TASTIC!!!! -
You're absolutely right. This is why I'm convinced these talkbacks are mostly full of children ... because you have to explain every little detail of what you're talking about to them. It just takes away the fun of making a point/joke.
-
I see you're still incapable of following through with the challenge I issued earlier.
Go figure. From your very first response to me, it was easy to see you were just another troll incapable of intelligent dialogue. -
Go back and look at your 'challenge'. Look closely. Right after asking me to reply without insults ... you closed your post WITH AN INSULT.
-
How 'bout you go fuck yourself, 'kay? :)
-
if you are going to argue that you were only joking about the white power comment then why would you go and make an absurd and racist comment like this: "I think I assumed you were black because of how you jump on every thread that turns into a discussion on racism and spout your political correctness"?
-
You sling shit at me without prompt, I'll sling it right back.
Fact is, you made what I found to be a very strange statement, I asked for clarification, and instead of being mature about it and answering like a civil talkbacker, you decided to act like a stubborn teenager and insult me instead.
I apologize for suggesting you would do very little in regards to the challenge, but so far, have I been wrong about that?
Remember, you started this, not me. -
Are you obsessed with me or something? Because every time I go away you keep bugging me. Should I send you an autographed picture or something? lol
-
quote: "I know why stalkeye does it. It's because stalkeye comes from a family of rednecks, and he wants to convince himself that he's not racist, so he tries to purges those values taught to him by his family on these talkbacks, and he cries "racist" with a knee-jerk reaction, because this is what he'd like to say to his redneck family so that he can fit in within this modern diverse world. "
Yup, you seriously need to see a shrink.
Nice Backpeddling in regards to the White Power post. Guily as charged, you apologist fucktard. -
I didn't realize I had gotten under your skin so much. Or that it was this easy to make you get your panties all in a bunch.
Duly noted for next time. It's incredibly easy to get Laos to act like a botch. -
Damn autocorrect.
Ah well, it's worth repeating: incredibly easy to make Laos act and cry and whine like a bitch. -
I tell you to quit crying like a bitch ... and you pretty much say, 'No, YOU'RE crying like a bitch."
Wow. You're wit is earth shaking. I can feel it from here.
Actually, you're boring me. I can't even laugh at your retarded ass anymore. You should take a couple of days off to come up with some better insults. I'll see you in the next thread.
Don't let me down, fag. lol -
Weak. You're no challenge at all.
You've got nothing. Absolutely nothing. -
Was I? Its obvious I really *did* get under your skin. You've been bitching ever since that first response.
Poor kid. I feel for ya. You can't win 'em all. Go back to school, do some growing up, learn the difference between "your" and "you're". Maybe wash the sand out of your vagina and come on back to play.
It'll still be incredibly easy to get you riled up and all hot and bothered, I bet. And you'll still pay me just as much attention as you have here in this thread.

You both lose no matter what
