Merchant & Gervais’ Warwick Davis Sitcom Headed For HBO In 2012!!

Published at:  Jun 22, 2011 7:45:22 PM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

“Life’s Too Short,” the BBC Two sitcom created by Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais, will hit HBO in 2012, according to an HBO press release issued Thursday.

The 3’6” Davis (“Willow,” the “Leprechaun” and “Harry Potter” movies) will play a fictionalized version of himself. Jo Enright (“Lab Rats”) plays Davis’ wife. Rosamund Hanson (the British version of “Shameless”) plays his assistant.

As with Merchant/Gervais’ “Extras,” lots of celebrities will play themselves, including in this case Johnny Depp and Sting. As with “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation” and many Christopher Guest movies, “Life’s Too Short” will take the format of a faux documentary, with Gervais and Merchant playing themselves.

"The 3'6" Warwick Davis ("Willow" the "Leprachaun" and the "Harry Potter" movies)"? No mention to be made of Rotmf'nJ? Blasphemy. Anyway - back on topic - Yeah, I'll watch this. I liked Extras quite a lot, if less than The Office, which is a pretty untouchable peak imho.

    It's about time.

Hopefully not as smug as (the still well above average) Extras, mind.

Guess that means Gervais won't be on the office?

    by ac_slater

Ah well, his stuff is comedic gold and I'm sure this will be no different.

    Funny.

    by kai_mah'gra

That was a pretty understated but still pretty funny clip.

    Looking forward to it.

I would have preferred a Karl Pilkington series, (although Idiot Abroad was great, you really want to see Karl in his natural habitat), but this will do.

OH NO, NOT ANOTHER "INSIDER" SHOW

    by mullah omar

I'm worn out on the mockumentary/meta/insider shows about the entertainment industry.

I'd rather see some crazy-ass show with Warwick Davis that I'll never forget. Make him the most dangerous man in the world on the run from Western governments and killing everybody BOURNE style whenever they come at him. Play it 100% straight and don't ever bother to acknowledge his size.

Or do the same shit, but have a retooled version of the Leprechaun be on the run.

    Give us something epic, Gervais!

So sick of the mockumentary shit

    by crooooooow

'We can't get our point across to the audience intelligently so we'll just fucking straight up tell you."

    That's some lazy ass shit.

  • Nice to see the boys trying something new and not simply regurgitating past glories.

Always a treat to see Barry from Eastenders again though.

  • Fuck.

    Yeah!!!!!!

That genuinely sounds like the most amazing tv show idea in the history of all things cool. Get Guillermo from Kimmel to be his sidekick!

He's one charming motherfucker and a good raconteur, did anyone see him on Friday Night With Johnathan Ross a while back when he was pimping this show? One cool dude.

If you want to see a crazy short guy killing everyone Bourne-style, go on Youtube and search for "Weng Weng".

He's a 3ft tall double-O super spy with an eye for the ladies

    Gervais is awful

    by brigon

The Americans can keep him, we don't want him back. He hasn't been good since The Office.

That said I did enjoy the cameos from Barry (off Eastenders) and Les Dennis (or was it Keith Chegwin).
